Love this guy. Dick for GM. LMAO

His endorsement of Reid is enough for me to want The Walrus in KC.

He did not. I would be that most of our draft picks during his tenure went to defense. At least it sure seems like we were drafting DL all the time back then. We spent a first and a second in the same draft IIRC.
They just couldn't pick anybody worth a shit.

Which is the perfect reason he shouldn't be a GM.

You can suck off Dick all you want.

The D was shit and it was obviously not a priority to fix it.

They wasted a SB offense.

People really ought not to throw stones at DickV anymore.

One of only 5 coaches to take 2 teams to the SB.

I know DV stuck by GROB too long but this team did try by bringing in players through FA and the draft. Carl is the one that finally replaced GROB with Gunther ****ing Cunningham. Yup that was on DV. Try again

Bump 11-26-2012 07:07 PM

I loved Dick Vermeil. Yes his drafts and defense were horrid. But, the man brought excitement to KC. That was hands down, the most prolific offense we have ever seen in KC.

I loved him as a coach, the way he can motivate his players too. Without Vermeil, Kurt Warner never would have been found either. I'm a fan.

Toward the end of his tenure I was extremely ready for Vermeil to be shown the door. I was tired of his crybaby shtick, loyalty without logic, and playing favorites.

It could be argued his last team (2005) was his best team in KC. They were on a fairly nice roll the back half of the season.

CaliforniaChief 11-26-2012 08:51 PM

Was it Vermeil's idea to hire Greg Robinson? If so, GTFO. Robinson is THE worst defensive coordinator in the history of football.

That said, those were some exciting times. The Priest Holmes era was fun to watch.

Yes. They might have gone on quite a playoff run that year...part of that 6th seed making a run phenomenon. Didn't Pittsburgh edge us out and then go on to win the Super Bowl that year? I'm not sure.

GRob was horrible, but The the Chiefs still didn't get blown out as much as they have under Pioli.

Of course, that's probably because our offense was better and our time of possession was a lot better.

Yep. Cowhers only SB title. They were 10-6, same as us....one of those odd years where 10 wins wasn't enough for a playoff berth. If only we had beat the Eagles, Cowboys or Bills that season.......

And IIRC, that Cowboys game was the one where we had the phantom hold in the end zone and then drove down for a FG only to see it get shanked. Now I'm just getting pissed.

Ya, and the Eagles game we held like a 17 point lead at one point....then lost. The Bills game we could only score 3 point on the road against a 5-11 team.

TOP was probably about the same. Only difference was we scored touchdowns instead of punting/fumbling/throwing picks/the odd field goal on every possession.

say what you will, but I loved watching games in the Vermeil era. In fact, ever since I have watched the games (well, not so much this year) but haven;t really enjoyed them like I did in the Vermeil era.

KC was always top 3 in TOP when DV was here. We dominated TOP.

Largely because our D gave up TD's in 5 plays or less almost every time the opponent touched the ball.

I love Vermeil, he's one of my favorite coaches in any sport, but he probably gets too emotionally attached to guys to be a GM. Coach is where he belongs... with an intelligent GM making personnel decisions. There aren't many guys who can handle strategy and fundamentals better than him though, even today. Just look at how disorganized we appear on both sides of the ball anymore.

Was that the season that we played the Bengals in week 17? LJ went off that game but I think the Steelers were playing the Lions or some bullshit ass team that you knew had no chance of knocking them off.

And the Dallas game LJ had 3 TDs but whiffed on an easy block that lead to an INT or sack/strip fumble or some shit. What was it?

I feel like that was forever ago.

Yeah, I'm not even gonna think about that. IIRC, It's also the year when thy wouldn't let T Green audible against Philly and they cam back from 17 down.
We win that game, or the one against Dallas, where Fujita knocked the ball away from Green, and we have a chance at the SB.
Although we would probably end up playing the Colts, and have another punt less game.

Did anyone say Herm was better? No. As usual, you're just arguing with the ****tarded voices in your head. In the end, all of them failed. But none had the tools that Dick had to work with. And he pissed it all away by COMPLETELY IGNORING THE DEFENSE. This 1-10 abortion we're watching now is awful, but at least it won't rip our hearts out in the playoffs.

All Vermeil did here was fail. And his failure was utterly unforgivable.

Ask the Jets how much of a "Step in the Right Direction" Fail Sanchez is.

Your use of smilies is impressive.

If you're three years old.

And he pissed it all away by COMPLETELY IGNORING THE DEFENSE. This 1-10 abortion we're watching now is awful, but at least it won't rip our hearts out in the playoffs.

All Vermeil did here was fail. And his failure was utterly unforgivable.

I think Vermeil probably tore his hair out every day trying to fix that defense. Robinson's scheme was flawed and outdated and too cerebral. Vermeil should have let recognized that and let him go. His tenure here is admittedly tainted by that defense. But "unforgivable?" Raping a nine year old is unforgivable. Being too loyal to a bad defensive coordinator is more like, unfortunate...
