I know DV stuck by GROB too long but this team did try by bringing in players through FA and the draft. Carl is the one that finally replaced GROB with Gunther ****ing Cunningham. Yup that was on DV. Try again

I loved Dick Vermeil. Yes his drafts and defense were horrid. But, the man brought excitement to KC. That was hands down, the most prolific offense we have ever seen in KC.

I loved him as a coach, the way he can motivate his players too. Without Vermeil, Kurt Warner never would have been found either. I'm a fan.

Toward the end of his tenure I was extremely ready for Vermeil to be shown the door. I was tired of his crybaby shtick, loyalty without logic, and playing favorites.

I like Vermeil, but I'd also like to point out his endorsement of Herm Edwards and Grob.

It could be argued his last team (2005) was his best team in KC. They were on a fairly nice roll the back half of the season.

Was it Vermeil's idea to hire Greg Robinson? If so, GTFO. Robinson is THE worst defensive coordinator in the history of football.

That said, those were some exciting times. The Priest Holmes era was fun to watch.

Yes. They might have gone on quite a playoff run that year...part of that 6th seed making a run phenomenon. Didn't Pittsburgh edge us out and then go on to win the Super Bowl that year? I'm not sure.

KC was always top 3 in TOP when DV was here. We dominated TOP.

Largely because our D gave up TD's in 5 plays or less almost every time the opponent touched the ball.

I love Vermeil, he's one of my favorite coaches in any sport, but he probably gets too emotionally attached to guys to be a GM. Coach is where he belongs... with an intelligent GM making personnel decisions. There aren't many guys who can handle strategy and fundamentals better than him though, even today. Just look at how disorganized we appear on both sides of the ball anymore.

I think Vermeil probably tore his hair out every day trying to fix that defense. Robinson's scheme was flawed and outdated and too cerebral. Vermeil should have let recognized that and let him go. His tenure here is admittedly tainted by that defense. But "unforgivable?" Raping a nine year old is unforgivable. Being too loyal to a bad defensive coordinator is more like, unfortunate...
