Hall of Fame semifinalists announced
Posted by Darin Gantt on November 30, 2012, 2:32 PM EST Unknown Getty Images Six first-year eligible candidates are among the 27 semifinalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2013. The Hall normally forwards 25 semifinalists, but there was a three-way tie for the final slot this year, so two extras were sent on. The Hall’s selection committee will reduce the list to 15 finalists in January, from which no more than five will be inducted into the Hall. Guard Larry Allen, kicker Morten Andersen, safety John Lynch, tackle Jonathan Ogden, defensive tackle Warren Sapp, and defensive end Michael Strahan were the newcomers to the list. Former Chiefs and Raiders cornerback Albert Lewis is also a semifinalist for the first time, though he’s previously been eligible. The remaining 20 have been semifinalists before, including last year’s 10 finalists who missed the final cut: Running back Jerome Bettis, wide receivers Tim Brown, Cris Carter and Andre Reed, guard Will Shields, defensive end Charles Haley, linebacker Kevin Greene, cornerback Aeneas Williams along with Bill Parcells and Ed DeBartolo, Jr. The other 10 semifinalsts are: Safety Steve Atwater, coach Don Coryell, running backs Roger Craig and Terrell Davis, tackle Joe Jacoby, linebacker Karl Mecklenburg, owner Art Modell, former commissioner Paul Tagliabue, special teamer Steve Tasker and executive George Young. Two senior nominees — former Chiefs and Oilers nose tackle Curley Culp and former Packers and Redskins linebacker Dave Robinson— are voted upon separately, for a maximum class of seven. |
You probably could have highlighted Will Shields, too...

A lot of people forget Lewis was a hell of a ST player. I've seen him block punts, FGs and even an extra point. They finally started putting 2 guys out to block him.
Curley Culp was a great D-lineman. I hope he gets the nod. Will Shields is a no-brainer. Him pulling on a sweep was a thing of beauty. |
At some point, Bettis will get in and while I get it... don't really care for him, but that's fine.
Tim Brown, Cris Carter and Andre Reed will all get there too - but not in the same year, it will take some time. |

First in, w/ "Choclate Penis".
Because you just can't get enough Choclate Penis at CP. |
What a shame that Curly Culp would be in the hall over Otis Taylor.

Otis has a great legacy and should be in the Hall with Curly FTW's. There we go. |
Outside of the weekly Blair Kerkhoff spot on 810 in July, Petro's incessant NFL Hall of Fame voting rants is some of the worst radio ever.
Didn't know where else to put that. |
Johnny Robinson

Warren Sapp was a good player, but he wasn't great enough to be a hall of famer i don't think, but he will probably get in because he is now a media member and is still in the limelight, but there are more deserving players not in the hall.
