The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has officially announced next year's inductees: Rush, Public Enemy, Heart, Randy Newman, Donna Summer and Albert King will all join the class of 2013, with Summer, who passed away this May, and King, who died in 1992, earning the honor posthumously. Lou Adler and Quincy Jones will both receive the Ahmet Ertegun Award for non-performers.

"It's a terrific honor and we'll show up smiling," Rush's singer and bassist, Geddy Lee, tells Rolling Stone. "It made my mom happy, so that's worth it." Lee is especially happy for Rush's army of hardcore fans. "It was a cause they championed," he says. "I'm very relieved for them and we share this honor with them, for sure."

The Rock and Roll HOF is a joke. Obviously, Rush should have been in many, many years ago. They have inducted many acts over the years that were complete head scratchers. Meanwhile Rush, despite whether or not you like their music, was a very big part of rock music for decades.

Heart probably deserves it more than Rush does.

Have they inducted the Dixie Chicks yet? **** those clowns.

Oh, and I'm not opposed to Rush being inducted - they're not one of my personal favorites, but I recognize their contributions, and unlike many other inductees, like Johnny Cash, ABBA and Michael Jackson, they actually... play.... ROCK.

I'm mainly just opposed to an organization declaring itself to be the ROCK AND ROLL Hall of Fame that enshrines bands/individuals that have nothing whatsoever to do with rock, while ignoring great bands that embody rock.

Again, **** these clowns.

Okay look.. I'll support hip/hop bands for the rock and roll HOF because hip hop is something that has been born out of rock and roll. It's backbeat driven music much like rock music. I let that fly.

Bullshit. Rock and Roll was born from blues, but that doesn't mean that Albert King belongs in the ROCK and ROLL HOF.

Definitely. And so does Rush. But that doesn't forgive their overall fail.
