my wife drove by that store about a half hour after the shootings took place. She had me scouring the local net when she got home.

I hope they find this POS.

That suspect was my sister's next door neighbor until she moved a couple years ago. She said he was a thug. What a scumbag. Last I heard, he was still at large.
|
Fox 4 reporting the argument started over who had the best mustache.
|
They are reporting that he is holed up in an apartment and surrounded.

Another shooting?! Goddamn....

RIP to our brave officers and prayers to their families. Terrible time to lose a loved one.
They had guns and they were trained to shoot. |

I know the TPD can't comment right now, but how did this guy get off two head shots on two officers? I know one of the eye witnesses that was standing in the doorway of the store as it happened. Said both officers were gone at the scene even though emergency personnel were attempting revival at the scene.
The scumbag hit one of them with multiple shots to the torso also. |
They tear gassed the house he was hiding in. 5 minutes later you hear gunshots. Then they release a dog into the house and let it drag this punk's dead body out. The news isn't confirming who it was or if they are alive. Knowing the situation I bet it was the punk and he's done for.

KMBZ 9 stayed with this through the end. After tear gassing the place he may have shot himself which led the TPD give him about 6 rounds of 3124fps of justice. This guy was looking to commit suicide by cop. Better that he's gone from this earth.
Reading that he's a Pottawatomie Indian that changed his last name from David Jim to David Escarino, the last name of his step father. |
I didn't know Jim was a last name

Good riddance

From the tweets I got from the PC, that according to witnesses interviewed at the scene, it was a simple drug deal. Officer(s) walked up on car and this POS fires from the back seat. JFC, what a POS this guy was. The TPD is familiar with the POS. Had a history of ciminal activity.
|
First TPD officers to die on the job since 2000. (Helicopter crash)
|
Sad deal. A low life like that ruins the lives of so many.

ALRIGHT. I'm sorry! I used it in the wrong context.
|
Crazy.
I've sold flooring to an Atherly. Not sure if she is in the Topeka area or not or if there's any relation. Hoping not. |
I feel like these types of shootings suicides happen everyday in most parts of the country, now they are reported every second. Look our society is sick the world is not a great place but atleast let me log on to one of the only places i have left to escape from the violent place we live
|
Ganked = Acquire, steal or rob
Shanked = Strike or stab from close range |
Guru, is that a bad part of town now? I lived in Topeka for many years and that area was getting pretty run down when I left, but there were other areas much worse.

My buddy covered this for 41 News. Here's the intense footage he got yesterday morning (watch the whole thing): <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/oYWiUQ8R5pM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

That Dillon's is the one they've kept open as courtesy I think. There are som many elderly, disabled, low income folks without transportation, that this dillon's was always pretty vital to them. But it also became a haven for thugs preying upon those very people who are easy marks. The spread of gangs in the 90's didn't help much. |
The Dillons i live near (29th and Gage) is pretty ghetto.
Can't imagine how bad the other must be. |

I live off 29th/Gage. I hate to be too nosy. But does anyone know Mr. Atherly's wife's name? Has that been disclosed? |

The 29th and Oakley dillons isn't "ghetto". I used to live right down the street and go there all the time. The location where the pos killed the officers on the other hand is a very questionable locale. Efforts to clean the area up but the residents must first take pride in the neighborhood. Unfortunately that's not likely with the majority of the people.

That one on 29th and Oakley hasn't always been a Dillons, has it? I remember it being something else. My daughters used to work at the old 21st St. Dillons in high school. Did they close that one?
