What TV do you have and why?
I have a 2012 Samsung PN60e8000 plasma. Got all the bells and whistles but if I had to do it all over again I wouldn't have gotten the one with the motion and voice recognition. Other than that the 600 Hz refresh rate is great and the black levels make this TV fantastic. I am having it calibrated to its true best settings next week.

Have a Sharp Aquos 54" with some leatherette BS trim around the edge so it fits the decor of the living room. Down in the man cave I have a projector setup. Mitsubishi HC1500 throwing on a 106" diagonal fixed screen. If you have the space, and believe me I understand not having the space, a front projector is without equal. And you can get a used one so cheap it is worth it....if you have the space.

Panasonic PT-AE8000U projector, because my picture in picture is bigger than a TV. 140" screen. 3D.
It kicks so much ass. |
Samsung 60 inch LED smart tv. Because it's awesome.
|
37 in Vizeo LED. I bought it cause it was $300 and didn't feel like spending more when my plasma busted.

Sharp Aquos 60in 240 1080 HD LED smart TV. Black Friday deal.

Sharp 90" LED.
Because I'm rich. And I run a 4 flat 40 and have a 12 inch cock. |
A 5 or so year old 46" Samsung LCD because it was the best picture on the floor and it still works.

I'm picky about lots of other tech related things, but TVs don't fall into that category. |
Living room: Samsung 55" LED LCD
Bedroom: Vizio 47" LCD SmartTV |
This 32" Sanyo CRT will not die.

In the basement - Runco LS-5 DLP projector w/ anamorphic lens attachment to project onto a 150" screen
Basement bar - 55" Samsung 3D LED Living Room - 65" Mitsubishi DLP Bedroom - 46" Panasonic Viera LCD A few 32" Samsung LCD's scattered around the house. I think I have a problem. |
Just bought a 39" Panasonic at BestBuy for $375. It's great. Very pleased with the purchase.
I had to buy one because my 55" Samsung DLP started fritzing out two weeks ago. I've had it 6 years. It's incredible. It's like a loved one being in the hospital on life support: should I pull the plug? Or get it repaired, with the possibility of it fritzing again in a year or two and being out $250-400 in repairs? |

Don't have the space right now for a screen that big but when the basement is finished I will. |

When I bought my new house a couple years ago it came with an unfinished basement with 10' ceilings so I went crazy with it. |
42" Philips plasma in the man cave. Bought it around 2006 and still going strong.
37" Sanyo LCD in the family room. It was cheap and has a great picture. 19" CRT in the bedroom. It's mainly used to watch news at night and in the morning. Don't need anything fancy for that. |

Living Room - Samsung UN60D7000 (sweet deal on a floor model)
Bedroom - Samsung UN46C8000 (moved from living room due to sweet deal on the 60") Bonus Room - Samsung UN55ES6500 (not our primary TV, but wanted a good size for sports/movies) I've had nothing but good luck with Samsung's LED's, and even though some of the plasmas were tempting (Panasonic GT and Samsung 8000), I couldn't shake the concerns inherent to the technology (buzzing, burn-in, heat) when spending that much on a TV. |
I've got a 2 year old Samsung 55 inch LED......that I moved to the bedroom after I bought a panasonic GT-60 inch 3-d plasma for the living room.
I used to be a non-believer of plasma....and a huge fan of Samsung LED...... But now, after I've had both in the house for about 4 months........I prefer the more natural look of the panasonic plasma. It freakin' rocks blu-rays and PS3!!! When you talk to anyone at magnolia or high-end shops....all the staff will push plasma - and trust me, I wasnt buying into it at first. I'm so glad I made the plasma choice now.....it freakin' rocks! |
Samsung Plasma, Samsung DLP, Sharp Aquos LED, Toshiba LED, RCA LED.
Samsungs are the best, overall, for the price IMO. The Sharp is the best looking, with best speakers. The Toshiba is meh, but was relatively inexpensive. The RCA has a built-in DVD player; POS for the kids to use & not worry about them breaking. |
Samsung is always my first option. I have never had any issues and find they produce as good a picture as any. The friends I have in electronics all tell me the same....Samsung.
|
yes, plasma will always be the best choice if you can control ambient lighting

LG 50" PLasma - why?...because I got it for $525. I was going to get an LCD 120hz but it was more expensive and was only a 42" if I recall.
Love the Plasma |
You boys and your toys! It must have hurt like hell watching the Chiefs lose that big.
All the info is very helpful though, thanks! I'm shopping around for a new TV and have been leaning toward a plasma for some time. Think I'm on the right track. |
Plasma will get you the most bang for your buck at this point.
the rest will depend on if you want Plasma/LED/LCD, smart TV etc. |
