Chiefs Kingdom: Joe Delaney

Would have been nice to have them put this together a few years ago, but better late than never.

Most newer folks don't even understand the connection.....

Bob Dole 12-29-2012 09:45 AM

Pretty awesome piece.

BlackHelicopters 12-29-2012 09:47 AM

Nice

threebag 12-29-2012 09:49 AM

Joe Delaney one of the CHIEFS Greats.

Lex Luthor 12-29-2012 09:52 AM

Joe Delaney was every bit as good as Jamaal Charles. That's not a knock on Jamaal Charles, who I think is the second best running back in the NFL today.

Delaney was that good. His death was tragic.

threebag 12-29-2012 09:54 AM

It's because of guys like Delaney who were building blocks of a storied history. They will continue to withstand the erosion of time. It's the guys like Pioli that wash away with a single flush.

Holy Jesus.

I can't take too much of that.

Wow.

Nice piece. It's interesting that if it wasn't for Joe and his legacy I wouldn't have met many of you in person and developed great friendships. Joe had a bigger effect on lives than many will ever know.

ChiTown 12-29-2012 10:40 AM

Wow. I'm choked up. Lot's of great memories watching that vid. Thanks:deevee:

Raiderhater 12-29-2012 10:41 AM

Yeah, I made the mistake of watching that in a public place.

swayy07 12-29-2012 11:10 AM

congrats clark ur still a ball washer

ChiefsCountry 12-29-2012 11:11 AM

It would have been intresting to see the Chiefs offense if Joe hadn't died and they drafted Marino instead of Blackledge. Marino, Delaney, Carlos Carson, Henry Marshall. Damn. That is Rams of 1999 or pretty close.

lewdog 12-29-2012 11:40 AM

Very moving, thanks for sharing for those of us who never saw him play.

bevischief 12-29-2012 11:42 AM

I take this as a sign that Peeholi is gone.

scho63 12-29-2012 11:45 AM

That was great and I really forgot how awesome he was!

He was actually a Chief at one time.

According to the mythology, Stram told him he wasn't a football player, he was just a dude trying to play football ... or words to that effect.

John Amos did the coin toss for the falcons game.

Well said, Mr. Nut.

Molitoth 12-29-2012 02:16 PM

What a nice video. I knew nothing of Delaney.

soopamanluva 12-29-2012 02:58 PM

My dad told me this story since he was from down around that way. Delaney was one of a kind. ...

That red on red practice uni was nice...

007 12-29-2012 03:16 PM

Nicely put together. Comparing McCluster to him made me LMAO though.

chagrin 12-29-2012 03:52 PM

Awesome, although I almost threw up when I saw Dan Rather, the "hey I make shit up" guy.

Al Czervik 12-29-2012 04:42 PM

Just ****ing AWESOME.....

JD will always be in my top 10......

Holy shit, where've YOU been?

chefsos 12-29-2012 05:35 PM

Wow. I'll agree with those who said this was very well done. Do the Chiefs produce this stuff? There were clips in there also, that I've never seen before. Joe was just about the ultimate "what could have been" story.

Greater love hath no man...

Easy 6 12-29-2012 06:21 PM

Damn, that was good, brought a few tears to the eye all this time later.

The first time a celebrity death ever hit home for me... that park should've been finished a long time ago.

But McCluster is the guy who they want to compare him to? reeeally?... thats my only gripe with this otherwise outstanding piece.

Yes the Chiefs produce this. They have a full blown television crew in house now that produces this stuff. Its one of the things the Chiefs have done really well recently.

big nasty kcnut 12-30-2012 12:59 PM

One other thing i think they should of put the spotlight on the 37 forever foundation those people brought back the legacy of joe. Also to put him up with the immortals of the chiefs ring of honor. Also it got really misty in my room here.

Hydrae 12-30-2012 02:08 PM

Well done. Thanks for posting this link.

37 Forever is done. If it were still active, it would be part of the discussion. Let it go.
