Statement from Romeo Crennel

Quote:

“Obviously I’m very disappointed in the way our season went. At the end of the day, the NFL is a performance-based league, and we weren’t able to win. I want to thank the Hunt family for the opportunity as well as our players, coaches and fans for their support during my time in Kansas City. As for my future, I’m planning to take some time to reflect on this season, evaluate everything, and make a decision based on what’s right for myself and my family.”

Retire, Romeo. Take a break.

Thanks for Geno. I will never forget you.

Classy guy, to the end. He'll re-emerge as a DC somewhere---where he blongs in the first place.

I think he's done.

the Talking Can 12-31-2012 02:47 PM

he stole every penny

can't think of a coach who has done less

Spott 12-31-2012 02:48 PM

Take a year off and then go coach KU. :)

BlackHelicopters 12-31-2012 02:48 PM

Miscast as a HC. Good luck to him.

FlaChief58 12-31-2012 02:49 PM

Seems like a nice guy & just not a good HC. Enjoy your retirement years

Eh, he is 65. However, there's a lot of coin out there to pass on...

DaWolf 12-31-2012 02:50 PM

Class guy. Bad head coach. Good luck RAC. Don't take a DC job in the AFCW...

I'm not sure what went wrong out there this year, I'll evaluate it as I retire..

Cannibal 12-31-2012 02:54 PM

The players had no accountability under him. He's far too nice a guy and too lenient.

These players need a taskmaster and they need to be held accountable for their play.

You don't produce... you're out.

Why not? We could run up 30 points before halftime.

Cheater5 12-31-2012 02:57 PM

He lost the competitive fire required to be a head coach; even as a DC he only brought it to a handful of games the last few years. Poor hire from the get-go. Good luck, goodbye.

RINGLEADER 12-31-2012 03:02 PM

P.S. Buttered corn.

ping2000 12-31-2012 03:08 PM

Anyone who would think Brian Daboli is the answer at OC is showing he shouldn't be a HC. Romeo had no coaching tree to pick good assistants. He didn't even have a coaching shrub. He had a coaching dandelion.

CaliforniaChief 12-31-2012 03:13 PM

Scott Pioli's not getting a lot of love. LOL

Dave Lane 12-31-2012 03:15 PM

Thanks for getting us the #1 pick and ridding us of Pioli. Now go retire.

Hammock Parties 12-31-2012 03:21 PM

he still doesn't know why

Sorter 12-31-2012 03:24 PM

I'll take future defensive consultant for NE for $750, Alex.

Crush 12-31-2012 04:08 PM

I'm going to miss his "bend and then break" defense.

Pasta Little Brioni 12-31-2012 04:17 PM

Just not Head Coach material, but I respect the hell out of him

JCharles1981 01-01-2013 06:22 AM

I don't think Crennel was tough enough on the team. Several times when the press asked why the Chiefs ended up with yet another loss, his reply was "I don't know." A real HC gives the real reason why his team blows a game and doesn't look for an easy escape route. Crennel is not HC material, and both Hunt and Pioli should have seen that long before the start of this season.
