KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Beaumont Club in Westport has closed its doors, according to multiple reports.
Tom Mag, a member of the Motley Crue tribute band Looks That Kill, was notified by the club’s booking agent that the band's March show is canceled because the venue is no longer in business.
On Tuesday, the club’s website still had three concerts listed through April 13. The Take Action Tour scheduled for January 16 was moved to the Granada, in Lawrence, Kan. The last event held at the club was a Battle of the Bands Sunday night.
There was nothing posted online or at the facility indicating the closure. Social media was abuzz as word spread, however the club’s Facebook and Twitter accounts have only posted about the relocated tour.
41 Action News reached out to the club's owners, but has not gotten a response.
We'll have more on this story on 41 Action News at 10 p.m.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. my favorite venue!

RedDread 01-01-2013 09:40 PM

Surprising, I figured they were doing fine.

Valiant 01-01-2013 09:47 PM

Place has been garbage a long while.. Need to put the sand back outdoors and bring back the volleyball nets.. Give me a place to go for sand volleyball outside of shawnee..

QuikSsurfer 01-01-2013 09:47 PM

That sucks... I've seen some fantastic shows at that place..

Edit: I should say that I haven't been there since I last lived in KC, which was 2008.

Demonpenz 01-01-2013 10:31 PM

Baby Gap is going to move there.

Titty Meat 01-01-2013 10:33 PM

It's a cool venue but anytime I tried to go there it was country night.

Strongside 01-01-2013 11:09 PM

That's sad. I grew up going to shows there.

Pablo 01-01-2013 11:13 PM

****. That sucks.

Dr. Johnny Fever 01-02-2013 09:35 AM

My brothers band plays there from time to time and he said he expects it's going to re-open with new ownership.

Deberg_1990 01-02-2013 09:37 AM

Turn it into a Jazz club. Watch the crowds flock. Profit

gblowfish 01-02-2013 09:54 AM

Hugh Beaumont would be disappointed.
Did you know he was born in Lawrence, KS?

Where else will I get a PBR with my Indie bands?

Molitoth 01-02-2013 11:15 AM

There are much better venues with better sound.

Knuckleheads sells those big huge cans of PBR cheap. Think they're like $2.50 a can.

Yee-haw?

CoMoChief 01-02-2013 01:01 PM

The Midland and Beaumont were my favorite small KC venues.

Westport is a shit hole though.

Sure, absolutely - but the Beaumont is a KC institution, plus there just aren't as many straight-up rock and roll venues anymore, period...

For local bands, that place was way too big. You could book 5-10 local bands there and the place would still be half empty.

For larger national acts it would sometimes work out as a good show, but for some national acts, it's far too small.

I prefer to see national acts at Uptown and local bands at Riot Room or Recordbar.

I think Beaumont Club will be reopened under new ownership though. The more venues the better.

Clearly you don't know Westport then.

Truth. The place needs reinvented. I only think of going to The Beaumont if there is 1 particular band playing that I want to see, whereas I might hangout at the Riot Room or Record Bar regardless of who's playing or if anyone is even playing at all.

Cmd'r&Chief 01-02-2013 02:03 PM

Surely somebody will snag this venue up. It really is the best venue I've been to.

QuikSsurfer 01-02-2013 03:43 PM

Didn't The Static Bar close down as well? Saw some great metal bands there..

Silock 01-02-2013 06:13 PM

It's alright, but it looked like a shithole in its last couple of years.

redfan 01-02-2013 06:22 PM

Saw some MMA fights there a few years ago. Kinda weird space for fights, never saw a show there.

Micjones 01-02-2013 06:38 PM

Heard this yesterday. Sad news.
They had some high-profile events forthcoming.

I've played Beaumont in the past.
Sucks though. Kansas City's already short on mid-sized venues.
