Andy Reid's new defensive coordinator if he's hired here?

KCrockaholic 01-02-2013 11:30 PM

Ew. No.

The sad thing is this is plausible. Hes from Excelsior Springs IIRC.

ROYC75 01-02-2013 11:35 PM

Bring him in for a look.

He's looking at houses in Overland Park.

Lex Luthor 01-02-2013 11:38 PM

So he got a little overzealous in his pregame speeches to his team. He's paid the price for it. It's not like he deserves the death penalty.

If he could help the Chiefs become a badass defensive team, I wouldn't have a problem with it.

CoMoChief 01-02-2013 11:57 PM

Coaches say shit like what he said all the ****ing time at all levels.

I never cared before...I don't care now. It's really time to move on.

Yes a bounty program is bad....but it's not as if the Saints were the first team to ever do something like that...they just got caught. Didn't Neil Smith or some former early 90's Chiefs players say they had something like that? I'm sure its happened on many teams at some time or another.

Hell it's not even the first time he's been apart of something like that. Wasn't Williams on Buddy Ryan's Oilers' staff in 1993 when they wanted to take Joe Montana out of that playoff game? Wikipedia says he was the LB's and ST coach then.

Sassy Squatch 01-02-2013 11:59 PM

Would be an aggresive 4-3 correct? D-line should be ok but OLB on both sides becomes a huge need.

BossChief 01-03-2013 12:43 AM

Id be just fine with that.

rtmike 01-03-2013 12:51 AM

Hell to the NO.

He runs a hybrid scheme and also has experience in running a 3-4 front effectively. IIRC, he primarily operated out of a 3-4 in the SB.

KC Hawks 01-03-2013 12:57 AM

I'd be okay with it if he tells our players to "Kill Manning's head!".

He behaved dishonourably. I wouldn't want that person around my team.

mnchiefsguy 01-03-2013 01:22 AM

He still has to be re-instated by the league before he coaches anywhere. Who would want to wait on that?

Easy 6 01-03-2013 07:53 AM

Highly doubtful he's allowed to coach this year, and maybe never again.

Having said that, as long as he stayed 3-4 i'd take him, you bet... you want an ultra-aggressive, attacking defense?

He'd give it to you.

Mr. Flopnuts 01-03-2013 07:54 AM

If he's reinstated, I would LOVE Gregg Williams as the DC for Andy Reid. 4-3 or the 3-4. I don't give a shit. We'd have a top 5 defense with him. Sign me right the **** up.

Deberg_1990 01-03-2013 07:55 AM

Dont want this unethical *uckstick anywhere near my team. Shameful hes from KC area.

You really think he pioneered some vile, disgusting bounty program in the NFL? Come on, man...

The reality is that Goddell got his face pushed in largely because he tried to take what it was (a pay for play program) and make it into something it actually wasn't (a bounty list).

Basically the Saints paid each other a few hundred bucks to do what every defensive player is trying to do anyway (hard hits, turnovers).

Anyone who thinks it was a legit bounty system is drinking the NFL's kool aid. That was about image and optics while a class action lawsuit bares down.

Damn right it has and it is just to damn bad that "vitriolic passionate words used to inspire victory" have now been PC'd(political correctness) into a so-called BOUNTY:rolleyes:

Iowanian 01-03-2013 09:49 AM

A pretty good source regarding this coach on this site has said he wouldn't coach in KC because he didn't want to coach where he is going to live.

Indeed. Hopefully Andy Reid thinks the same way, since he owns a home in San Diego

he doesn't want to coach this close to his family because they will take shit when things don't go well.

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter

Filed to ESPN: Suspended former Saints DC Gregg Williams already has met with Titans and is on verge of becoming Tennessee’s assistant HC.

Most of the time we agree on things but quite frankly this is the most stupid comment thus far on here.

Kind of an off-base remark on a pretty decent guy. Know much about him?

Mosbonian 01-26-2013 06:44 PM

And FTR....I wouldn't want him to coach here for for different reasons than most. I think coaching in your own backyard just works against you.

houstonwhodat 01-26-2013 06:45 PM

You don't want this bastard he'll throw everyone under the bus to save his own ass.

To be politically correct....Bovine Feces.

You know crap about this.

warpaint* 01-26-2013 06:50 PM

I'd take him.

I couldn't care less about the bounties. And neither did the NFL until it became necessary.
