Would you be willing to endure another bad season?

If KC drafts a QB would you be willing for that QB to start ala Luck, Aikman, RGIII to find what he is made of?

We would have to consider that he makes it through camp and shows some skills that need to be honed?

jd1020 01-05-2013 12:08 PM

No. I think if we draft a QB #1 overall he needs to sit for 2-3 years...

Mama Hip Rockets 01-05-2013 12:10 PM

NO

El Jefe 01-05-2013 12:10 PM

No, here in KC we are competing for the Super Bowl every year, anything less than that is a waste of time.

MMXcalibur 01-05-2013 12:10 PM

Bring back Quinn and Cassel. That's better.

He needs to sit and shrivel up as the previous QB's the Chiefs have drafted?

OK.

DeezNutz 01-05-2013 12:11 PM

I do not want this organization trying to develop a QB. I'd prefer to find a guy who can be mediocre right away, while guaranteeing that mediocre is all he'll ever be.

Give me 9-7 or give me death.

The reason AR did not start McNabb was because of the OL. (per AR)
I will trust ARs' judgement on when to start him. The sooner the better IMO.

Pin Head 01-05-2013 12:41 PM

It doesn't matter...we can expect to have many more seasons of mediocrity.

TribalElder 01-05-2013 12:41 PM

Nope! Unacceptable! We'll just have to trade for Kirk Cousins if our rookie QB falters

Demonpenz 01-05-2013 01:27 PM

I am always confused what people would rather be doing, even when the chiefs suck shit, it is time on the couch eating wings with your hands down your pants.

FlaChief58 01-05-2013 01:33 PM

Assuming we draft a QB in the 1st or 2nd round (I think there's a better than a 90% chance we do), I'd say throw him in there game 1, unless Reid feels like he could bennefit from sitting 4-6 games to get him more comfortable. No matter what, the rook should be starting no later than week 8

Thig Lyfe 01-05-2013 01:38 PM

If Geno is on the field developing and showing progress but the team just can't seem to get it done, that's fine.

If Geno is on the field looking like horseshit, that's also fine. Then we know to maybe start looking elsewhere in the near future.

If Geno is not on the field, then no. Losing AND wasting a year when we could be assessing/developing our #1 overall pick QB? That's unacceptable.

DaWolf 01-05-2013 01:39 PM

Reid probably isn't going 10-6 next year unless Tom Brady becomes available. That said, with the money he is getting paid, we better be winning by year 2. So take year 1 and develop your QB before the honeymoon ends...

crossbow 01-05-2013 02:24 PM

I can tolerate another year of suckness because I know it won't last long. We will have competent management in place that knows how to fix it. The players are going to have to learn yet another freeking offense. 5 of them in 4 years isn't confusing enough. This time though, it should be the last one for a while and they will have enough time to get used to it. So the first year is probably gonna be pretty sloppy until everyone gets the timing, language, and blocking down. After all of that, I hope we start seeing offensive production like Al Saunders created.

no ****ing way lol. #1 pick starts Day 1. It's that simple, QB's need experience. this isn't the 80's anymore man. QB's hardly ever sit now. Geno is gonna start day 1.

Too much pot? No worries, happens to the best of us :D

AdumbGuy 01-05-2013 04:12 PM

I don't understand. We drafted Stanzi and he's been sitting for 2 years now. Why wouldn't we want to replicate all of that success?

bevischief 01-05-2013 04:22 PM

All depends on how the season unfolds. Injuries to several starters maybe. But I expect to at least have a shot at the playoffs this year anything beyond that is gravy. It will take a couple of years to get Reid to purge those that don't buy in to his way.

I don't know anything about pizza. It's all so very complicated, just like watching football. I need professional GMs and coaches like Andy Reid to tell me which pizza to buy and eat, even if their favorite brand is Totino's.

I've never worked in a pizza factory. I've eaten lots of pizza before, but what if I'm wrong?

It's not as easy as it looks!

Whether I would buy a pizza and not eat it isn't relevant. Whether the Chiefs would draft a QB and not play him is a historical question. Check the three first round QB's they drafted. They were placed in the deep freeze on the sidelines and when they did get into the game their skill set was gone.

My question seems to have bypassed any historical knowledge that you have with the Chiefs. You are dumber by default.

This is even a question? Gotta start. If he absolutely sucks, we'll be picking #1 in 2014 and can try again.

L.A. Chieffan 01-05-2013 10:26 PM

I think Reid will get a solid veteran guy, win about nine or ten games and look like a conquering hero to the common people. Shit, if the dude wins a first round playoff game they'd probably bronze a statue outside arrowhead

He's already got a solid veteran guy in Matt Cassel.

I would be willing to endure another few bad seasons only if it meant that Stanzi "the Manzi" could get the experience he needed, (under Cassel of course), to become the world beater that many on this board, (including myself), have proclaimed him to be.
Now that Reid has been hired, the Chiefs secret weapon can be unleashed upon the rest of the NFL.
GO STANZI

That doesn't wash on this board, I've seen it discussed and is the only actual conclusion that makes sense, read the rest of the comments around. 99% of the people here look like they want to draft Geno in the first pick and then season him on the bench for 2 or 3 years. How stupid is that?

My point is to throw the #1 Draft to the wolves and see how he handles the situation.

If we're 2-14 or somethin? No I can't take that again. But if Reid goes 6-10 to 9-7 his first year, I actually expect that. I'd consider that progress. Like people have been saying, year 2 for Reid is when he's expected to take us to the playoffs. But there's worst to first stories all the time, so who knows. We have some talent on both sides.

This, anything above 6 wins this year I would say is successful. 9 or more wins would have me dancing naked in the streets!
