Baltimore Flight

I was in Baltimore on a business trip the past few days. While waiting on my return flight home, in walks Trent Green. I struck up a conversation with him thinking he would give me the standard how are you doing but leave me alone type of communication. I was surprised that he seemed to welcome the conversation. We talked about several things like coaching, the draft, Pioli, Andy Reid, Herm Edwards, John Dorsey, etc… At the end of the conversation I told him that my son was going to be excited that I got to talk to him because he is a fan. Trent asked me his name and volunteered an autographed football card. He is definitely the anti-Larry Johnson. Very nice guy. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Nice.

Dayze 01-07-2013 12:36 PM

yeah; I waited in line with him once at a Chipotle in town. he was really nice, carried on a conversation the entire time; and even said "Good chatting with you" on the way out as he passed my table.

good dude it appears.

Yep Trent Green is one of the nicest pro athletes you will ever meet.

He offered to mail you an autographed card or he had one on him?

Nice, but could you expand on what he said about these guys?

Cannibal 01-07-2013 12:36 PM

What was his opinion on Pioli firing and the Reid hiring?

Don't particularly care about the star****ing. I just want to know what his opinions were :)

Hammock Parties 01-07-2013 12:37 PM

He's so gosh darn cute, too. And great abs.

FlaChief58 01-07-2013 12:37 PM

He had a card on him that he signed to my son.

Strongside 01-07-2013 12:38 PM

Yeah, but did he save a family from a burning house?

Rain Man 01-07-2013 12:39 PM

I was aghast when we made the trade for him, but I was wrong. He was a real bright spot for this team.

RealSNR 01-07-2013 12:40 PM

I took my nephew up to River Falls one year (he was 11 or 12 at the time). The practices got a bit boring for him at times, but we had fun trying to get autographs from all the players. The coolest moment was when most of the fans had gone to lunch, but we stuck around and ate sandwiches. Lamar Hunt actually walked up to US, and chatted for awhile. Ten minutes later Trent Green came riding by on a bike, GOT OFF and introduced himself to us and the other few fans that had stuck around. Got pictures and autographs from both Lamar and Trent.

Dayze 01-07-2013 12:44 PM

awesome. I wish more pro-athletes acted this way. I'm sure there are a lot of them, but still.
I think the really nice ones are the ones who know the fans are what make this thing called the NFL tick.

L.A. Chieffan 01-07-2013 12:45 PM

Cassell shouldve been this guy for us.

58-4ever 01-07-2013 12:48 PM

Great guy. His brother-in-law is a pretty frequent poster on the board. I've had the chance to meet him a few times and he's genuinely good to other people.

ptlyon 01-07-2013 12:48 PM

Nice of him! Guess you can't blame the guy for being that way, hes the most recent qb to play for the chiefs that hasn't been hated & told to go on a long camping trip in an aids infested forrest.

'Team-killer' Pioli - Basically said the same things we have heard over and over about him being a controlling type personality.

Herm Edwards - Told him the offense was not going to change but in the first team meeting said all he wanted from the offense was to get first downs. Herm just wanted the offense to keep the defense off of the field and play close games and try to win a t the end.

John Dorsey - Likes the tree he comes from. Thinks he would be the best choice but wasn't sure the Chiefs could get him unless Reid gave up some control.

Draft - He doesn't think there is a QB in this draft worth the #1 overall pick.

Coaching - He would love to coach but he doesn't want to take the time the job would require away from his family.

Albert - Thinks the Chiefs should try to resign Albert

Bowe - The team-killer' Pioli group did not want to re-sign Bowe.

Hammock Parties 01-07-2013 12:51 PM

LMAO @ Pioli chasing Bowe out of KC after this year.

Thank god that fat arrogant douche is dead.

This adds to my suspicion that some chiefsplanet members are supermodels who merely pretend to be men.

No #1 QB? Well **** you, Trent. I take back all those nice things I said about you.

I think he knows that the Chiefs need a QB but I think he believes that there are more worthy players deserving of the #1 overall selection. He did mention trading for Flynn or Alex Smith.

:)

mikey23545 01-07-2013 12:58 PM

I love hearing stories about pro athletes like this, especially when they're about athletes I really liked as players...

Yeah, it's almost like he thinks he knows more about the NFL than a bunch of puffed up, self important, arrogant bulletin board posters...

What an idiot he is.

:p

Deberg_1990 01-07-2013 01:01 PM

I once sat next to Ray Lewis on a flight. He threatened to shiv me if asked him questions.

chop 01-07-2013 01:06 PM

I also saw Shannon Sharpe in the airport. Just exchanged "hey" as we passed each other. Intersting running into two former NFL players.

That's the thing about the NFL draft. NOBODY KNOWS how good the prospects are ahead of time. All we have are educated guesses. NOBODY can say with 100% certainty how they will turn out. When you have the 1st overall pick and need a QB like we do, you have to do your scouting, find the best prospect you can and roll the dice.

Sometimes people think too much of value and not enough of need. You can't control the prospects that are there, you just have to take your chances with what you've got available.
