Retweeted by Arrowhead Pride

Didn't really want to start a new thread for this but didn't know where to put it where it would get buried. Thought it was very insightful. Enjoy.

For those of you that don't know:Lynn Stiles
Former Chiefs VP of player personnel (92-96) and VP of football operations (00-08).

Good Lord I thought we were officially interviewing him for a second.

Someone with the cliff notes.

He thinks Reid is a good hire. Good stable organized leader.

About the draft, gotta make sure you get guys that fit.

Made a point to let us know former front office types and players weren't welcome under the last regime. But he was around for the press day when Andy was introduced and he felt at home again. Clark has told him he is welcome here anytime.

A few points I remember.

Just thank ****ing jesus we are done with the football GM version of Stalin.

How could you alienate past players and staff? What point does that serve?

Scott Pioli deserves never to work in football again. Let him suck off his father in law, who also was one of the most overrated talent evaluators.

O.city 01-12-2013 04:31 PM

Friend of mine at school's dad visited with Trent Green on the plaza this week, said the organization, once Reid was hired, immediately opened itself back up to former players.

The bigger question for me is "Why?". Why alienate former players and staffers? He must have a massive inferiority complex.

Pioli

This is what I ask.

What was the point of that? Pioli was a typical East coaster.

That is unequivocally untrue.

I have tons of friends that are from New York, New Jersey, etc. and they're not ****ing assholes in any way, shape or form.

Guess your friends are the lucky ones.

I just don't know how Clark allowed that to happen. When I visited Arrowhead in 1999 and 2000, I was lucky enough to get down on the field. Walking through AH, there were TONS of former players, staff walking around talking, shaking hands.

The whole stadium all around the stands there were the charity signs.

Lamar built a huge family environment and I'm happy it's coming back.

He's just an insecure **** head. He can preach how he appreciates the history of the game, but then he shits on it here?

**** that scumbag.

ChiefMojo 01-12-2013 04:36 PM

Same thing many say happened at Nebraska with Cally. Amazing how things crash when you treat everyone like crap and tear down history!

East coast people appreciate history and relationships.

Meh, most people I've met from the north/northeast were retired elitist assholes.

Granted I was just a kid working in the pro shop of a country club surrounded by a huge area of retirees from that area might have something to do with it.

Of course it does.

Not everyone is a country club asshole.

CaliforniaChief 01-12-2013 04:43 PM

Even the online behavior of the organization and openness to the fans/media changed immediately when Pioli left. Amazing.

crossbow 01-12-2013 04:52 PM

Who the hell knows what he was paranoid about? Dude was a control freak to a point of psychosis. Locking the bathrooms and requiring security escorts. Firing people in the offices if they didn't keep the window blinds closed during practices. Rumors of him tapping Haley's phone. Yeah, this is exactly how Stalin behaved. Filled with distrust and paranoia. Glad that psycho is gone.

chiefzilla1501 01-12-2013 05:03 PM

The name Lynn Stiles makes me cringe as much as the name Scott Pioli.

He was head of personnel over some of the most disastrous drafts in the team's history. Keep in mind this is the guy who said he didn't even know who Big Ben was.

crossbow 01-12-2013 05:13 PM

I don't think dipshit understood that the player's perception of being part of the Cities family was critical. The players played better because they didn't want to let the family down. Everyone in town knew who they were and what they looked like. A poor performance in Arrowhead was like shaming yourself in front of your real family. The players had pride in their contributions to the community and the fans appreciated it. Aside from that, there was no genuine reason to tear it down. It wasn't causing any problems.

ChiefMojo 01-12-2013 05:35 PM

Many have heard me complain about the change in culture as one of my biggest stinks with Pioli.

The destroying of player/organization relations with fans was a complete head scratcher. Keeping ex-players/personnel away from Arrowhead was not only a killer for environment but how FA looked at KC. Saw it as a sterile and unfriendly place. Then you strip the charity aspect between the team/fan base and it made the players just numbers and not people... They were like Pioli's gladiators and nothing else.

The Chiefs use to be a college atmosphere much like the Packers. Hopefully the new change brings that back and hopefully adding John Dorsey as GM also brings that atmosphere back to Arrowhead.

Yup, I've said the same thing. Here's what's great about the Pioli fiasco. The Kansas City media is the biggest group of ballwashers I have ever seen. What's funny is that if Pioli showed even an ounce of respect for the media, they would have help Pioli fight back against SOC or against fans calling for his head. It shows how much of a dick Pioli was to turn our media against their team.

I also talked about 2010. How we made the playoffs, but it never felt electric. Nobody was really that excited. I talked about jerseys. During the Carl era, I had a few players I idolized. During the Pioli era, I don't idolize anybody. Not even Jamaal Charles, who is one of the best players I've seen play in a Chiefs' uniform.

If Hunt is smart, he will demand that the Chiefs open the team back up to the fans. I want to see Bowe and Charles clown around. I want to hear about their charity work. I want to see shows like the Jared Allen show again. And yes, even though I barf every time I read a fluff piece on Junior Siavii enduring tough times, I want to see that shit too.

hometeam 01-12-2013 05:54 PM

He talks about drafting pro bowl players because they fit the system, and they got coached up.

Geno is perfect for WCO, and our coaching staff is now filled with QB coaches.

Suck it haters.

Then again, new gm/reid may not draft that way :(
