Kick returners.
I've long thought one of the biggest failings of the Pioli regime was complete inability to find a kick returner.
Don't give me Arenas bullshit stats. I want a game breaker at that position, not a guy who will get you 10 yards every time and a TD never. Who are the top KR coming out? |
You fill your roster, then from those guys you find your returners. If you have competent special teams you're fine. Competent special teams come from having a solid roster and a good special teams coach.

Arenas lacks the speed to be remarkable. |
BRING BACK JUSTIN PHINISEE
The guy that caught my eye the most was De'Anthony Thomas, but he's only a sophomore. I HAVE NOTHING. |
There really arnt too many guys in the league who are consistently good KRs/PRs for more than a couple of years. I think its just one of those positions you cycle through until you find a good one, play him till he sucks, then start again.

I still like Dri Archer. :(

Marcus Murphy had 3 PR tds and 1 KR TD this year. 21st rated rb in the 2015 draft class, not sure he would stick around for 2 more years though. I haven't heard anything about him declaring for this year, so I imagine he'll be back next year to increase his stock. Missed the 2011 season with shoulder injury. Posted via Mobile Device |
My phone mangled that link somehow.

Ummm...didn't we draft Wylie for that shit last year in the fourth?
|
I will wait for actual special teams coaching before I throw in the towel on the returners on the roster.

|
remember when we once spent 2 second round picks on kick returners?
that was fun |

Thats not really fair though. At least they played other positions and we got decent production from them at times. |
With Toub coming from Chicago, I think he will appreciate a good return man. I vote we just sign Josh Cribbs and nip this in the bud.

Ace is a ****ing stud. What does he play offensively?
|
WR
Pretty sure he runs a 4.3-4.4 so he isn't Dex. |
Players that could be drafted mid to late rounds and are good in the return game.
RB - Antonio Andrews – Western Kentucky WR - Nick Williams - Connecticut CB - Kahlid Wooten – Nevada Andrews had over 1700 yards in rushing, 400 plus yards in receiving in addition to having over 1000 yards in punt and kickoff duties. |

Personally I'd rather worry about fielding a good offense and defense first...

Aren't short quick, fast guys who don't have the size to be full time starters a dime a dozen? Find one of those guys in the 5th or later and go with him. |
This kick returner problem is easily solved.
Sign dominque Rogers - cromartie as cb/kr Not a draft post but thought bout this the other day |
I thought I read somewhere that Sanders was going back to SC.
