Original 1966 Batmobile On Sale At Barrett-Jackson Auction This Weekend

1 Attachment(s)
Fellow Car Nuts:

Holy Shit Batman!

The Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale is this weekend thru Sunday on the Speed channel.

For the first time ever the original 1966 Batmobile will be auctioned off on Saturday night.

This is the original prototype out of George Barris' personal collection used in the Batman TV Series.

Lots of other sweet machinery too.

I saw an Olds 442 that was sold for only 29K tonight. My parents had a convertible 442 when I was growing up.

Check it out.

I got to sit in that car when I was a little kid at a carshow. Pretty ****ing awesome. I remember when they fired it up. Straight pipes and loud as hell.

Saccopoo 01-17-2013 11:33 PM

The first two days of that auction are a gold mine.

Some seriously great rides go for cheap.

25k for a new Toyota Camry or a mint '66 Super Bee?

Ace Gunner 01-17-2013 11:40 PM

I've got a pic of my wife driving that car.

I've never heard of a Delahaye, but now I really, really want one. I'm torn between the blue or the two-tone white.

I love me some Batman, but $5M? No way.

Not even if I were Bill Gates.

I get that, but people realize the gadgets don't actually work, right?

I mean if they did, all bets are off :)

those are definitely the "value days" but most of those cars are far from what i would call "mint"

I had never seen or heard of Barrett-Jackson before this year.....but I have loved watching this over the past few days. There are some pretty nice cars being sold..

I was chuckling about the old Kansas Highway Patrol car they sold.

Are you serious?

They have auctions all over the country but their Scottsdale in January is the biggest.

They always have some cool '70 Cuda's and other muscle cars.

I'd like to hear from someone that's actually been there.

this was during the eighties. she used to work in the film industry and it was inside an industry storage place in burbank while they were retrieving a bunch of props for some film and the guy let her drive it outside to get it out the way. I just happened to be there and shot some pics. case of a hot woman getting her way :D

whoman69 01-18-2013 02:29 PM

This was one of my ten cars to buy if money was no problem

ive got a buddy that builds awesome cars.

he built a morrison chassis 57 that sold not too long ago at the mecum auction in KC for almost 80. and it had about 160 in it. the old man died and his wife sold everything short.

he also built a #s matching every part original to the car 70 hemi cuda that the guy had over 600K in.

it was pretty cool, you get to see some cars you will never be able to afford lol

600K for a Barracuda?

They seem to usually go for about 200K when the market is hot for em.

Post a picture of it if you have it.

Sweet Daddy Hate 01-18-2013 02:59 PM

That would be so awesome to own.

I expect him to be on stage with it when it gets sold.

I'd much rather have the one from the Burton Batman movie. That's the best one of the bunch, IMO. I despised the TV show.

NO...I said it just so people would make fun of me.:rolleyes:

The job I got about 18 months ago has me more interested in all aspects of car restoration. I find myself watching alot of the shows on The Speed Channel on Saturday and Sunday morning.

Psyko Tek 01-18-2013 08:18 PM

Scottsdale is the Caesars Palace of Barrett-Jackson.

That event should have it's own zip code.

JoeyChuckles 01-18-2013 10:10 PM

Does anyone else do the Hagerty Fantasy Bid during the auction?

Their servers have been so overloaded.

I live in Phoenix and have gone to the Barrett-Jackson auction ever since I moved here. Its really amazing to see what some people have been able to do with those cars. Ill actually be there tonight when they auction the Batmobile off and I'm fairly interested to see how much its gonna go for. I was also there on sunday when everybody shows the cars off before the auction starts and got to see the batmobile up close, its pretty amazing!

I don't know how I will explain it to my wife, but if it looks like the Batmobile will go for under 5000 dollars put in a bid for me and I will pay you back.

This car just sold for 1,320,000.00 and it was an automatic.

It was a Hemi but I still don't get it.

The guy who bought it said he is going to park it in his living room. He knew he was going to own it and I think if he had another bidder that would kept going, he would have gone over $5 mill the way he talked about how much he wanted it from childhood years.
