Lets Talk Dwayne Bowe
I'm not quite as savvy as others when it comes to keeping people/letting go. Has there been much talk of Bowe since Reid came in? Obvious upside to the guy is that he's really the only good receiver we have, and he's one of the better guys in the league. Obvious downside is he's expensive at this point.
Any insight on to whether or not there are signs pointing to him being here next year? |
General rule seems to be that this gets looked at a lot harder after the superbowl.

They can no longer sake by being 30 mil under the cap. He'll be retained. |
Tag him. Get a first rounder in trade if possible. Use that pick for younger faster legs to replace him. Save money. Life is good.
|
If we lose Bowe, we better sign Gennings and Welker to replace him.
Geno Smith is gonna need some reliable receivers and Bowe is the only one we have (unless Breaston is good to go). |
HeWhoShallNotbeNamed is gone which is the only reason Bowe hadn't signed with the Chiefs.
Non-issue |

This is why we should have let BlackBob stay. This thread would turn into a full-blown jihad in 5 minutes.

This is the year to re-sign and extend as many contracts as we can. The rules say we need to spend 90% of our cap. Also, you're a moron |

I think Bowe is perfect for the short crossing routes of the WCO. We should look at drafting a speedster/deep threat in the middle rounds.

Especially because our 1st round QB isn't going to be getting a huge contract. Extend Bowe, Colquitt and Albert. |
If we dont re-sign him, we have 0 gamebreaking receiving threats.

Why talk? Re-sign him. Re-sign Albert. Don't need much discussion for either one.
|
Another point that goes unmentioned.... The team has to spend he actual CASH CAP, not just get to the cap floor. I bet we damn near need to sign Bowe, Albert and Colqiut just to get there.
If also really like to see hem bring Dorsey back...I think he could be pretty good in a 1 gap nose type roll. |
I would be floored if Reid didnt want to keep him, without him the cupboard is very bare.
He instantly gives Reid a legitimate player... slants, crosses, fades, snagging poorly thrown jump balls, he would seem to be a great fit for the WCO. As others have said, what we need is speed to compliment him. |
Speed to compliment him sure, but I could see Bowe thriving in the WCO. He is best after the catch, so throwing him a lot of slants, crossing patterns, etc could be a thing of beauty.
|
Resign Colquitt.
Resign Albert. Draft Geno. Tag Bowe. |

Basically Bowe looks better than these other receivers because Cassel would only throw the ball to him and Quinn sucks too. QB's make the receiver. (Look at what Rodgers has done to the GB WR crew, what Brady has done with the craptastic NE crew, and Peyton has done with Colts/Broncos) Geno is pretty good at getting the ball to multiple receivers... so one of our guys could break out. |
tag him .. we gotta have a #1 WR .....
|
Tag him. Trade him to Pittsburgh straight up for Mike Wallace. Bowe reunites with Haley, who coached him to his best year, and gets a legit QB for once.
We get a deep threat with speed for Geno to hit for the long bomb. Everyone gets their new contract, everyone gets a better situation. Oh, and if you agree to that, then why not throw in having your hot sister fellate me. |

Bowe is a great fit IMO for our offense. Gains solid separation on slants and can beat a solid jam at the LOS, sells his down field routes and gains great separation on digs, outs, and comebacks. Additionally, he's a a strong guy who can shield with his body and despite how much people like to bitch about his drops, he typically catches the ball aggressively with his hands.
He's going to do wonders with a QB that has consistent ball placement. If we resign Bowe and Geno progresses like an elite QB prospect, we'll also be able to murder people with back shoulder throws with Bowe in the future. |
I'd also like to see us begin to utilize Bowe in the slot on occasion as I think he's a very solid size/strength matchup adv over most guys playing in the nickel and also has the ability to get down the seam. He'll need another legit receiver on the outside though to truly accomplish this though IMO.

but we have Jon Baldwin to replace Bowe. This will be Jon Baldwins break out year I just know it!
/resident homers |
all Andy Reid has to do is look at The Chiefs passing stats when Bowe was out with injuries.
|
|
Bowe is a must resign IMO

I think Bowe could be a better downfield threat, if we had somone to get it to him with some accuracy.
|
So long as he will agree to a reasonable offer, I'm confident a deal can get done that benefits both parties.

We should care about our cap situation in future years though. |
Do not care about expensive. Do you think other fans have this mindset? We have to get up to the MINIMUM!! We are not there yet. The fact that even remotely comes into your brain is ridiculous.

Lock him up long term or tag him, simple as that.

I have no problem with Bowe getting Fitzgerald money.
That was 2 years ago. Those contacts are never paid out entirely. |

Bowe is over- rated and needs to be allowed to walk.

I have no idea what Bowe is even looking for. I need a jumping-off point. |
Well, it's not my money, so I don't really give a shit how much they pay him. I'd rather overpay and keep him, than not pay and lose him.
|
7 yr $85 million with 9 mil signing bonus and 30 million guaranteed. Backload the last couple years for when he is 34 and he can be cut without paying those years that would be worth 25 to 30 million of the contract.

They have to spend 99% of the total cap as cash. |
Just hand Bowe two checks and tell him we'll see him at camp.
Have the checks for Cassel (7.5 million) and Jackson (14.75 million) already made out and tell him to cross off their names (with a wink, of course). |
