Best Theme Song

Talk is of Shirley Bassey performing at the Oscars.

Is there a better theme song in the history of cinema than Goldfinger?

It just ties in with the 007 theme so well while being a great song in its own right

Dayze 02-08-2013 02:16 PM

speaking of Bond songs, I liked the one that Chris Cornell did, and this last one Skyfall.

"Gooolld finnnngahhhhhh"

I would have said Indiana Jones, except my son is going through an Indy phase and he likes to keep the DVD menu on which plays the theme song over and over while he wears his hat and his whip (the tie from my bath robe) and pretends all over the house.

This is all cool except that song is always on.

So I went with full house.

Whatever happened to predictability?

Ah, i like that pick, i used to model everything i did on Sonny Crockett.

But for the purposes of this thread i'll throw out Skyfall by Adele.

I watched this movie over and over and over when I was a kid. The effects (such as they were) are now horribly dated and cheesy, but the theme's still a killer.

The actual theme begins at 2:14.

I say lets put this to a Rainman poll.

Jenson71 02-08-2013 08:15 PM

I think most people are conflating theme (music) with theme song. They're different for these awards.

And like it or hate it, Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go" is got to be biggest commercially, "Beauty and the Beast" is great, "Moon River," "When You Wish Upon a Star," "As Time Goes By," and "I've Had the Time of My Life" are iconic, but . . .

the greatest song in movie history is Judy Garland's "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."

This is a little random but I was watching a show on Disney Channel with my younger(much younger) brother and I thought it was pretty cool. Gravity Falls. By the way, for a kids show its not bad.

Probably never see a run of themes like that in history again.

Nice, I loved that show as well, although it was early 90's for me. Chip and Dale as well as far as Disney shows go.

Yeah that's a good one. Speaking of that, I always love the songs they use during the closing credits. That cut-away for the NBC show during the Summer Olympics made me miss it because I hadn't planned on it when I set my DVR.

I wouldn't say it's the best movie/TV theme, but it's better than the Judy Garland version of Over The Rainbow, and fits its respective movie at least as well.

Six Feet Under was on five seasons and had 63 episodes. I've seen each one at least five times. I don't why I liked that show so much, but when I heard the theme it felt like an old friend coming to visit.
