Hypothetical Situation : Smith or Geno

Alex Smith and Geno both available for 1st pick, both coming out of college. Imagine if they were both available in the same year. Would Geno be considered over Smith?

Trick Question: Smith is Geno.

EDIT: That's a play on the name, and does not reflect my feelings on talent. Mob... please don't neg bomb me. Please.

Alex Smith had a higher grade than Aaron Rodgers, something that most certainly would not have been true of Smith. In fact, with Rodgers' slide in the first round, Geno would likely have been a second rounder that year.

HELL YES.

Geno has the the unpolished talent and Alex had the school and raw talent as well.

Asking me to go back and erase YEARS of Alex sucking is unfair...

The biggest negatives on Rodgers coming out were his ability when the play breaks down, his intangibles, and (of all things) his accuracy...

This is dumb and meaningless and also dumb.

Alex Smith is going be a retread QB going to what ever team.

We don't need no more stinking retread QBs

Geno Smith is a prospect QB that has potential to be what ever he makes of himself in the pros. He could turn out great or he could turn out bad or somewhere in between. I want to find out what he can do for the Chiefs regardless.

**** Alex Smith **** any retread QB.

My money is that Geno Smith is going turn out pretty damn good & has Super Bowl potential.

RealSNR 02-09-2013 01:15 PM

Hypothetical situation:

Let's say Tony Mandarich and Luke Joeckel were in the same draft class. Who would get drafted first?

Rasputin 02-09-2013 01:16 PM

Bap. I made OP bleed with neg rep. Stupid ****ing thread.

Imon Yourside 02-09-2013 01:16 PM

tk13 02-09-2013 01:27 PM

People have become so defensive over Geno. This thread is pretty harmless. We'll see way, way more stupid things posted over the next couple months. Although it's impossible to answer really. Might give a slight edge to Alex Smith. He lost 1 game as a starter, less than 10 INT, graduated in 2 years and finished by dominating a BCS game. He still wasn't a sure #1 pick though. It's not a slam dunk.

HolyHat 02-09-2013 01:29 PM

Jesus FukBalls! Who let this guy start a thread?

We need more QB threads.

ClevelandBronco 02-09-2013 01:55 PM

Hypothetical question: Would it have made a difference if Cassel had been a guy?

gta0012 02-09-2013 01:58 PM

You are all such butt hurt dicks on this board. I post a thread in which we can think about the QB situation in a different way. Something to discuss in the off season when there isn't much going on. Don't like the thread or discussion? Don't post in it.

Done with this board. All I read all day is the same shit from the majority of members and anyone that says anything otherwise is crucified and talked down too. I really hope Ried trades for Alex Smith and picks loeckel, or how ever you spell it, so 95% of this board drowns in their own tears.

It's spelled with a J, dumbass.

munkey 02-09-2013 03:10 PM

So...Alex takes the Niners to the NFC championship an he's a retread...wow...he's really not that bad BUT I'm not saying Geno is the answer either...I'll let the front office make the decisions and go from there. I have more faith in Reid and Dorsey than the previous regime and until proven otherwise will support what ever they do..I just want to win again..

B14ckmon 02-09-2013 03:19 PM

Geno might bust hard for all we know. Alex Smith was a no brainer #1 pick at the time.

That old saying "Don't let the door hit you in the ass" comes to mind.

Then I think, why not?

If it hit you hard enough, it might knock you over, landing on your head, sramblig your brain.

Hell, it might improve your IQ.

This is a problem with our fanbase accepting what ever our leadership front office has for us. Why? We get screwed over and over again and we are just suppose to accept it? Bull shit I'm not.

They have to prove to do something different than what got us to the number one pick in the first place.

OrtonsPiercedTaint 02-09-2013 07:08 PM

If Alex Smith hadn't spent 6 years under Mike Nolan and Mike SIngletary might he have not been ruined? If Geno Smith is drafted by the Rex Ryan will he become Sanchez II?

I asked my Ouija board and it caught on fire.

The CP tendency to destroy anyone that doesn't toe the party line here is ridiculous.

His shoulder injury was corrected and he has improved every year since. He deserves to be a starter in the league, and probably will be even better than he's been in the past. A cagey veteran to lead a young team is just what we need.

Buying a lottery ticket with our #1 pick is appealing to some, but when you look at what the chances are of getting someone who can play the position in the league versus all the QBs drafted every year, you take the veteran sure bet.

You might have an argument if there was a non-QB worth a squirrel fart at the top of this draft.

There isn't.

So if Matt Cassel were to swallow a condom of cocaine and it busted. Then they surgicaly repair his large intestine. He may not shit his pants under pressure, real or imagined.
