No New Contract For Alex Smith
Chiefs | No new contract for Alex Smith
Wed, 27 Feb 2013 09:41:00 -0800 At this point, San Francisco 49ers QB Alex Smith, who will officially be traded to the Kansas City Chiefs March 12, will play under the terms of his remaining contract, which calls for a guaranteed base salary of $8.5 million in 2013. There has been no discussions between the Chiefs and Smith's representatives about negotiating a new contract. ????? How many years are left on his existing contract ?????? |

Good.
Alex will come here for a year while Geno learns the playbook. :-) |

Alex Smith signed a 3 year deal for 24 million with San Fran last year after missing out on Peyton Manning.
|
Well we probably will still draft a QB but not the one that everyone had hoped for. 2 Quarterbacks in 2 Rounds I just dont see happening. They will draft a QB in the 3rd or 4th round and use the 1st round pick to trade back and acquire more picks.

Anybody know anything bout Zak Dysert the QB from Miami (OH) ?

He'll play two years ranging from 7-9 to 9-7 and then be let go. Two years of all our football lives wasted... |

OK. So ,He needs to play lights out to get another contract while we're developing another. This is good news IMO. |

This is not the QB I wanted, I wanted us to draft Geno Smith but that dream is down the drain now more than likely, we will probably trade with Philly, Buffalo, or Arizona and hopefully we can acqure at least 3 picks in this years draft and 2 in next years to add some talent to this team.

The 49ers still royally raped KC of it's draft picks. But this lessens the blow that this shithead may be only a 2 year plan.

I just wish he'd learned not to sign trash QBs and give up drafts picks to get them. Maybe the next GM will figure that one out? |

Philly needs Joeckel too. Never know, anything can happen. |
good news
now tell me it was a swap of 2nds and I can get back on the Geno at #1 bandwagon |

Where is that news from?

If we can trade down (highly unlikely) and pick up another 2nd or 3rd round pick (which would only happen in Madden) we might be able to move up and grab him mid 2nd round. |
Why are you guys giving up on Geno?
|

The GM stating that there was no QB worth the first pick before the combine? The fact that this team just gave up our 2nd round pick, the 34th pick overall, for a dumpster fire the the HC is in love with? The team's history of never drafting and developing its own start QB? Take your pick or mix & match. |
If he doesn't extend, then the compensation we're giving up is even more egregious.
In other words, he'll get his contract at some point. |
Give him Matt Cassel money!

All i can do at this point is hope that John Clayton is right, and it's a swap + conditional 2014 pick |
This is almost certainly from KFFL.
And it is almost certainly bullshit. Alex Smith will get an extension this offseason. |
Swap of 2nds plus a 2014 2nd rounder isn't so bad if KC drafts Geno or trades down to, like, #4 overall and drafts Matt Barkely. Actually, I'd dare to call that approach a bold one. Not ideal, spending three picks on two quarterbacks, but not altogether terrible. Win now AND win in the future.
Of course, this is not going to happen. Why would it? Hamas' Final Theorem and all. |

Seriously, this forum would probably turn back to being positive about the Smith acquisition. Honestly, though, you don't give up 2 2nds for a two-year patch. Alex Smith will get extended. |

But they're not going to do that. You just don't give up the compensation that they did for Alex Smith if you plan to bring anyone else with any pedigree in. |

Two second round picks. We're not kicking the tires on this guy. He's The Guy. |

Id like to think they just want to let him run out his two years and if theyve found theyre diamond in the rough they let him walk or keep him in a mentor back up (hasslebeck). But id also like to think no one would give up a second for A.Smith. Honestly i could swallow this deal if we swapped seconds but things dont look that way.

Nfl Am says smiths on his way to kc. Whos waiting on him with a bat for that shoulder?
