Chief's 2013 Draft Day QB Pick?

Poll forthcoming....

So, with Alex Smith seemingly the starter going into September, what will the Chief's do in the draft to make camp a comptetition, and not a coronation? Will they shock everyone and take Geno at #1, grab whomever drops into 2nd round (by recouping a 2nd round pick via trade,) wait until the 3rd or 4th round and take a chance on a project QB, or try to out-smart everyone with a late round developmental pick?

What say you, ChiefsPlanet???

ChiefRocka 03-01-2013 08:20 PM

You haven't heard...Tim Tebow is coming to town.

Pitt Gorilla 03-01-2013 08:37 PM

I really hope they strongly consider a QB at #1, but I think many of us would simply like a good Day 1 (or what used to be Day 1) QB prospect to groom for the future.

Red Dawg 03-01-2013 08:39 PM

Dysert baby

Frosty 03-01-2013 08:44 PM

I'm guessing Matt Scott in the later rounds. Hopefully, it's not Landry Jones.

It's going to be tough to "steal" one of second tier guys with no 2nd.

Unlike many, I actually think (hope?) there is a chance of this...if they do draft Geno in the First, there will be some serious eating of the nasty-ass ugly-ass big-ass Crow pie by many here....heh. I'd love to see it.

Not holding my breath though; unless Reid and Dorsey subscribe to the theory many seem to favor...that QB is everything, thus we will make sure we have a real QB, if we can help it, at all....

:hmmm:

penbrook 03-01-2013 08:47 PM

I say Geno at #1.

We sign d bowe to a long term deal and tag Albert.

No team offers us a reasonable trade so we stay at #1.

We have our qb now so why not draft the qb of the future in Geno Smith.

hometeam 03-01-2013 08:48 PM

I voted getting back a 2nd rounder, because that's what they likely want to do.

Only way I see that is if someone falls in love with Geno and wants to get above the raiders.

LOL

It just came to mind when I thought of how the front office handled our QB situation

Exoter175 03-01-2013 11:10 PM

Drafting Geno in the first still, or my name isn't Xavier Raphael Pilankovich

penbrook 03-01-2013 11:24 PM

Some guy who works as a camera/set up man for NFL Network is on arrowheadpride. He does have pics of behind the scenes of NFL Network is saying we are taking joeckel #1 and cutiing winston and moving Albert to RT.

What would be the upside? Saving cash on winston and trading him?

I guess saving cash or getting a draft pick after Dorsey screwed us over the Alex Smith trade.

TribalElder 03-01-2013 11:35 PM

Pass protection was the theory

KC_Lee 03-02-2013 11:24 AM

I went with Bray.

I know, I know. But there is such a tantalzing risk / reward with the kid.

And if Reid is such a QB guru a couple of years riding the pine and learning could turn him into a good QB.

keg in kc 03-02-2013 11:27 AM

I suspect that it's possible that they "wait until the late rounds and hope that someone like Jones, Bray, Emanuel, or Renfree will become the next Brady" but I voted that the "Chiefs will NOT draft a QB".

Sweet Daddy Hate 03-02-2013 11:40 AM

i dont think they will. This is the band-aid Chiefs. Martyocre is good enough!

Yeah, if we do end up with Bray, Wilson, or Emanuel in addition to Smith...it could certainly be worse.

MGRS13 03-02-2013 12:56 PM

4th or 5th round trash. Another wasted late round QB pick who will never play a down in a regular season game.

Pasta Little Brioni 03-02-2013 12:56 PM

The guys that are going to be available in the mid rounds make me want to puke

patteeu 03-02-2013 01:02 PM

I voted for a late round flyer, but I could see them not drafting a QB at all too, depending on how the draft falls. I seriously doubt that they'll draft a guy with their 1st and I don't think Bray is even a consideration for an Andy Reid offense.

redsurfer11 03-02-2013 01:05 PM

The Chiefs will hope that Bray, Manuel or Wilson falls into the 3rd round. If not, they'll stick with Smith, Stanzi and Tanney.

acesn8s 03-02-2013 01:12 PM

Quit obsessing over the QB. The rest of the draft should be focused on protecting Smith, giving Smith targets, and defensive players to fit the new defense. There are no good QBs available. Look for a QB next year after another dismal season.

Pasta Little Brioni 03-02-2013 01:20 PM

Since they aren't taking one at 1-1, don't even bother.

Sweet Daddy Hate 03-02-2013 02:33 PM

Dont worry guys; Reid is a mastermind who will lend a whole new dynamic to the offense. He'll maximize Smith's sweet dink and dunk while utilizing Bowe and Charles in dramatic new wa-.....lol...I can't even finish typing that horseshit...

If (and even I don't believe it will happen) they were to draft Geno in the first, can you imagine the reaction in this joint?

A late round flyer on someone could shock us all though, just sayin'.

There are no better options coming out next year. LMAO

This is ****ing hilarious. The perpetual "wait til next year" crowd.

OK Let's continue spending the 1st two picks of every draft when there are no good options and build a team of 5th round offensive linemen, 3rd and 6th round defensive players and 4th and 7th round WRs. That way when that great QB finally shows up he will get injured early and often, the defense won't be able to stop the worst offenses and the WRs will be making millions to drop passes.

But hey, we will have that awesome QB that can't wait to leave.

Direckshun 03-02-2013 05:41 PM

My belief is that Foles will get cut by the Eagles here pretty soon.

The Chiefs will scoop him up on waivers, and land a QB they can groom like Nassib in the draft.

When you say continue spending the 1st two picks do you actually mean on QB? Continue spending on a QB? Please make the argument that you build a team and then get the QB. I hope for your sake I am misunderstanding you because otherwise you don't comprehend football at all.

Sofa King 03-02-2013 07:14 PM

What's the worst possible thing they could do?

Because they'll do that.

I'm pretty sure he's saying that you don't flail wildly for a QB throwing good picks at bad prospects over and over while the rest of your team withers away. If I'm reading him right, he thinks a balanced approach that takes advantage of the particular strengths of each draft is more sensible.

Dayze 03-02-2013 08:12 PM

I wouldn't be at all shocked if they didn't take one at all

Exactly.

The 2nd round pick is Smith. If they swung for fences and missed then they can try again next year. And if the results are the same then try again the next year. In the meantime, improve the defense, the O-line and WRs.
