Late night bullshit: other than Geno, here's where I'd be drafting QBs.

Because we've all had more than our fair share of Geno conversation for the time being, I'm going to introduce a conversation topic that specifically excludes him.

The question:

Excluding Geno at 1.1, which QBs in this draft would you take, and in what rounds?

1. I would take Ryan Nassib with our pick in the third, should he last that long. I think he's incredibly bright and throws with great accuracy. His roof may just be as an extremely effective game manager, but that's really all this draft has to offer aside from Geno.

2. Sadly, I'd probably take Tyler Bray, too. But I wouldn't take him over Nassib. I just feel the tremendous need for this team to build some semblence of depth at QB, and Bray has a prayer's prayer of being any good. He's at least playing with the right materials: he's got great size, a strong arm. But his gametape is really not anything to write home about. He's throwing to two 1st round picks this past season, and shit his pants about 1/3 of the season.

3. I'd consider taking Zach Dysert from Miami (OH) if he's still there in the midrounds. I don't know. I'm really reaching here, everybody's a pig you have to put lipstick on. Dysert can stretch the field, has a great arm and pretty good size. Take a flyer.

4. That's pretty much it.

I guess I wouldn't kick up shit about EJ Manuel should we trade back into the 2nd, or Brad Sorenson or Landry Jones in the 7th.

Everything else is just torrid bullshit.

Maybe one of you guys are more optimistic.

O.city 03-06-2013 11:36 PM

As much as it sucks and it really sucks for us but when you look at Reid and Dorsey's background, the massive need we have/had at QB, the fact that they decided to do what they did for Alex Smith and not draft a guy at 1 tells you pretty much all you need to know about the top guys.

Now, maybe they see their guy sitting there in round 3, I dont' know. But it's frustrating.

Canofbier 03-06-2013 11:47 PM

I keep wondering to myself if Wilson will be available at the top of the third, and if we take him if he falls that far. He's absolutely plummeted down the draft boards, but is he worth the first pick of the third round?

Rasputin 03-06-2013 11:48 PM

If this is what we got to do then I'm ready for next years draft to come out.

He ****ing sucks.

Bray or Dysert in the 3rd or later are the Chiefs best bets for a developmental QB in 2013.

O.city 03-07-2013 12:02 AM

I'm pretty leary of Wilson at this point based on his "Petrino" itis.

Bray would be fine, he has the best natural tools of the class. IMO, and he would take developing, I'd like to get back into the 2nd round and get Manuel.

If they get back into the second, it had better be for a starter and not a developmental player.

CB, S, DE, ILB.

Some of these holes will be filled in FA. If they think that Manuel is their QBOTF and he's there in the 2nd, fine, take him.

I think CB and/or DE will be filled by the time the draft hits. Also we signed that Abdullah who could be a decent S. Likely better thna Lewis at this point.

Hammock Parties 03-07-2013 12:07 AM

Tyler Bray is going in the 2nd.

Well, I honestly don't think there are enough players in free agency to adequately fill these holes. I don't see a true #2 CB or a true starting safety in FA that will be reasonable and available. There may be an ILBer like Ellerbee or Jones but I doubt the Ravens will let Ellerbee walk.

I honestly think they're looking at the draft to fill the holes and I'd take Xavier Rhodes, Kenny Vaccaro and others before Manuel in the second, if they HAVE a second.

He might but he shouldn't.

No, but there are guys like Nico Johnson who they could get on day 3 and be a starter there.

I just think they're going to somehow get a 2nd rounder back, and I figure thats where they plan on getting their QB. Unless they wait till the third, but I don't know that there will be any around then.

I don't think theres any way Rhodes or Vacarro make it to the 2nd, but there will eb some CBs there.

It depends on where in the second. There are a lot of good players in this draft, so it just might depend on who chooses whom.

Although I admit, I liked the Chiefs chances of getting either player when they held the #34 overall pick.

Thats the biggest shitfest with that trade. It isn't that we got Smith, he's probably the best option for 2013. It's what we gave up and we we will miss out on.

O.city 03-07-2013 12:20 AM

I've got a pretty good way to fill that Cb spot, but it will cost alotta coin and some ingenuity.

I'd trade 1.1 to the Jets for 1.9 and Revis, then hope like hell one of the LT's fell and try and trade with the Rams for 18 and their 2nd.

Then take whoever or whatever I wanted that was available there.

Sweet Daddy Hate 03-07-2013 12:33 AM

Take no QB whatsoever. Start lining up next years prospects, because this team with ****-O Alex at the helm WILL be picking high again next year. Does Lil Chiefy love him some 4-12? Good boy!

Oh I don't know, something tells me Nick Foles will be a Chief either this off-season or the next.

ChiefsCountry 03-07-2013 12:37 AM

I draft Matt Barkley at 1.1.

This is what I'm looking at. Don't have the second round pick to work with & the drop off from Geno in tallent is scary. I can live with Alex Smiff one year if it's getting the best prospect in next years draft with our first pick. If we don't do that next year it's going be tougher and tougher to enjoy watching this team.

Better start finding out what channel San Jose State is playing on next year. David Fales here we come.

Fairplay 03-07-2013 01:09 AM

I'm thinking Zach Dysert will be a decent quarterback in the NFL if he has a good coaching staff to mentor him and he sits out a couple seasons walking around with the clip board. Maybe he will be there in the fourth and the Chiefs pull the trigger on him. Pending if we pick up Geno in the first.

If he gets picked up by someone else in and he works out fans here will be bitching because we could have picked him up.

rico 03-07-2013 01:26 AM

In order: Bray (dude was generally being mocked #1 overall in 2014...in a draft that's "better" than this year's draft...why he isn't generally projected higher this year, is beyond me....do they expect him to "grow out of" the character concerns in the matter of one year)?, Barkley, Manuel, Glennon.
