Down on Star Lotulelei? Then you are doing the draft wrong.

I simply don't buy people that say Star is not an elite prospect.

Great burst, holds the point of attack, always gets push, pretty damn clean technique and strong as a bull.

Assuming his heart checks out, having him and Poe on the same DL could help us dominate the line of scrimmage.

DOMINATE

I SAY

He's a STAR!

Yea, I'm not really sure where you are going with this.

Frosty 03-07-2013 09:10 PM

I was going to post Star's highlights from when he went one on one throughout the game against a true freshman center when Utah played my Beavers but then I remembered that there weren't any. ;)

Chiefspants 03-07-2013 09:37 PM

How well does he occupy blockers?

CaliforniaChief 03-07-2013 09:53 PM

I'm not sure he has the heart of a champion. My arm went numb while watching that video, and I had the sudden urge to take an aspirin while watching. Other than that, it was ok.

Brock 03-07-2013 10:14 PM

2 fatbodies ina row! Yay!

Sorter 03-07-2013 10:25 PM

There is some really solid stuff in that film and a lot of negatives (in which Star gets completely removed out of the play via Guards).

While I think he has upside and is great at getting an initial push/explosive with his hands, I'd prefer Richardson.

Richardson has the potential to me a more dynamic player, but he probably has too many character concerns to go in the top five.

Nice Barkley video.

Chiefnj2 03-08-2013 06:42 AM

With Dorsey a free agent and Jax only signed thru next year, it looks like DE (or move Poe outside) is going to have to be a draft priority.

Ace Gunner 03-08-2013 06:46 AM

He quick as hell for a 340lbs player. Ngata like player imo and can play in any system anywhere along the DL.

Elite? I would say he could become an elite player, needs to develop techniques.

Direckshun 03-08-2013 07:31 AM

He's often compared to Ngata. But so was Poe. We have to hit on one of them eventually, I guess?

He's like 325 lbs, by the way.

htismaqe 03-08-2013 07:59 AM

Stupid thread is stupid.

Taking a tackle at #1 overall is dumb.

Saccopoo 03-08-2013 08:47 AM

As said countless times before, he's not a 34 five tech defensive end. He doesn't have the length to play on the outside of a 34. He's a 43 NT.

We should have drafted Michael Brockers last year if you wanted a good 34 five tech prospect.

buddha 03-08-2013 10:42 AM

The take away from those clips is this...USC's o-line was shitty! Everybody on the Utah DL looked like first rounders.

But don't let any of the "the o-line doesn't matter in the NFL" guys hear that.

I hope the heart condition thing isn't serious...this kid is very fun to watch no matter who he plays for.

Yup. Brockers was a perfect fit.

I'm pleasantly surprised by what Poe did last season, but I'm still disappointed that we didn't take Brockers instead.

Brockers went off the board five picks ahead of us.

Nightfyre 03-08-2013 01:25 PM

Uh, no he didn't.

He went 3 picks after Poe.

Who am I thinking of, then?

Edit: Looked back over the 2012 draft. I have no idea.

The Franchise 03-08-2013 01:39 PM

Fletcher Cox went one pick after Poe.

CleveSteve 03-11-2013 08:46 AM

I fully agree, Direckshun. I've had Star to the Chiefs #1 overall since January. You guys need help on the DL bad, and he's by far the best candidate for that role. He can play any line position in a 3-4 front.

Dave Lane 03-11-2013 08:59 AM

That video is is way worse than Glenn Dorseys rookie video. Pass.

No.

Glenn Dorsey is a totally different kind of guy and never should have been drafted into a 3-4. That's not his game at all. He was strictly a penetrating 4-3 UT and he gets put into a vanilla Romeo Crennell two-gap 3-4 as a DE? That's setting a guy up to fail. That's what I think, anyways. That's what I thought then, too.

He was drafted into a 4-3, champ. Do you know anything about the Chiefs?

My bad. :thumb: I still think he could succeed in a 4-3 as a UT. He never should have been a 5T end, though.

If he could, he would have shown productivity in subs. He didn't.
