CB DeAngelo Hall might be released

ESPN’s Adam Schefter said on SportsCenter today that the Redskins are considering releasing cornerback DeAngelo Hall in order to get under the salary cap.

Hall is scheduled to count $8 million against the cap and as he has not prorated bonus money on his deal the Redskins would save that entire amount against the cap. They are about $3 million over as of now so the one move would satisfy the requirement and get them under the cap by the deadline that comes this Tuesday at 4 p.m.

“He will be a candidate that the Redskins will look at to try to get back underneath the salary cap,” said Schefter

Steron 03-08-2013 10:11 AM

Oh ****. QB? I meant CB.

Steron 03-08-2013 10:12 AM

Can somebody fix the title for me? Stupid N00b mistake.

Mother****erJones 03-08-2013 10:13 AM

Hellllllll nooooooooo!!!

Rasputin 03-08-2013 10:13 AM

See we need competition at the QB spot, bring him in for a look.

mr. tegu 03-08-2013 10:13 AM

He probably shouldn't have changed positions to QB after they got RG3. He was a year too late.

I was fully ready for the CP shitstorm. Hence the two posts I made right underneath the OP. I was skeered.

I'd much rather get Hall on an affordable 2 year deal and draft a corner in the third round to develop than spend 7 million a year on a corner like Smith.

this x10000

-King- 03-08-2013 10:57 AM

He wouldn't be a bad #2 corner. A bit on the older side though.

Too expensive for what you'd get. Hall has great moments and horrific moments.

Mr_Tomahawk 03-08-2013 11:00 AM

Evan Silva‏@evansilva

Rashard Mendenhall could be one of the better cost-effective signings in FA. Only 25yo. Full season removed from ACL. Versatile & talented.

Titty Meat 03-08-2013 11:00 AM

If were going to sign a loud mouth dumbass I'd rather sign Pacman Jones who statisticly was the best CB last year in this free agent market.

*can't think of a monopoly reference*

No thanks.

KCrockaholic 03-08-2013 11:05 AM

DeAngelo Hall isn't very good. Not even really worthy of a thread.

ForeverChiefs58 03-08-2013 11:11 AM

Panthers announced they released CB Chris Gamble.

Pass.

His demands will far exceed his worth...

Sassy Squatch 03-08-2013 11:14 AM

He can demand whatever he wants but the fact is there's so much CB talent on the market none of these guys will get the deals they want.

Note: they'll still make enough they can play Monopoly with real cash.

Hopefully a team doesnt get stupid and set the market high.

He's a 30 year old corner...his demands won't be high.

'Hamas' Jenkins 03-08-2013 11:24 AM

He sucked as a rookie, he sucks now, and he'll suck two years from now.

ChiefMojo 03-08-2013 11:36 AM

I definitely have interest in Gamble. He has been in the league for 9 years and quietly was very effective.

Hootie 03-08-2013 11:38 AM

I'd take him over any other CB...

Really? He has nice interception stats, but he gambles way too much and gets shredded as a result of it. It's also easy to mentally take him out of the game.

His gambling style reminds me of Terrell Buckley.

I think I just get off on playmakers. A lot of people say Ed Reed gambles too much, too...

but yeah, maybe I overrate DeAngelo...

KCWolfman 03-08-2013 11:45 AM

no

Hootie 03-08-2013 11:45 AM

I also thought he has played better than past few years after he got that reputation earlier in his career...

but I'll be honest, other than watching a few RGIII games because I was a fantasy owner I didn't pay a whole lot of attention

Can he throw a one yard dump- off to DMC?

ChiefMojo 03-08-2013 12:28 PM

Add Aaron Ross to the names of CB's released and available.

Between 15-yard personal foul penalties and routinely getting beat deep...nah.
