LL and EVH

I love the comment that someone made:
"This is worse thing Eddie Van Halen has ever done... with that being said I still like LL Cool J more than Sammy Hagar!" |
Is this what we're replacing waterboarding with?
|
I like this song more:

Lyle Lovitt and EVH?
|
EVH has one of the best guitar sounds ever. I jsut don't understand why he does not create some new musice. He gets back with Roth and just re does old 70' demos? He has time to do this crap but not Rock out with his badass Son on some new tunes??

Eddie doesn't write music. If it weren't for Wolfgang, the original Van Halen would have never reunited in 2007 or put out that shitty record in 2012. |

Oh yeah Money and touring-lol |

That's the last time I'll be doing that. |

The last time I saw Van Halen with Dave was 1984. I went both nights at Kemper and it was amazing. I vividly remember both shows, although they were nearly identical. Man, what a party! |
Quote:
Maybe that's just me getting older? :D IMO, the accoustics of the place are just......off, somehow. The shows that I've seen in there don't have the same sound as they did in Kemper to me. Everything is just a bit too distorted, or a bit too loud, or a bit too soft.... Sprint Center is nice and new and shiny, and all of that, but I'm not so sure that it's a better venue for rock concerts than Kemper was. |
And yeah, that would have been a hell raising good time to see Van Halen in their prime for the 1984 album.....

Kemper was always a good venue and the only band that I found that was too loud was Metallica, when they opened for Ozzy back like in 1986/1987. My friends and I went out to the concourse and could hear them more clearly than in the arena. Way too loud. |

The only concert I've seen at Sprint was Pearl Jam and I didn't really notice the seats being uncomfortably small (but that doesn't mean they aren't, compared to places I haven't been, of course). In general, I hate big arena shows and I'm not a fan of big arena ticket prices either. Give me the Uptown, Knuckleheads, |

You know, I was going to qualify that by stating that no, the people who've told me this are not fat, but I decided against it. My bad. Quote:
But nothing compares to the Hollywood Bowl and the Greek Theater. It's an indescribable feeling to watch phenomenal performances outdoors, under a blanket of stars, with incredible acoustics to boot. |

My dad would never even try lobster because he thought there was no sense in acquiring a taste for it when beef was cheaper. I'm sure the places where I see shows don't come close to those places when it comes to acoustics, but since I've never experienced better, they work for me just like beef worked for my dad. :) |

The Sprint Center seats are a little close. Not bad, a great venue. Acoustics seem a little rough to me. Maybe it's my ears. I've seen 10 or 12 shows there but don't have a "great" acoustical venue to compare it against. |

Hearing "Darth Vader's Theme" at the Bowl with John Williams conducting the L.A. Philharmonic is as close to Heaven on Earth as it gets for me. |

Have any of you guys seen any show there? |

Wow, sorry guys. Be sure to wear earplugs at any loud venue to protect what hearing you have left.

How have you found the music you're into living there? |
Quote:
As for live music, it's pretty common for bands I'm interested in to skip KC, but with the limited number of shows I go to, it's not a problem to find acts that appeal to me rolling through town. For example, I've been waiting for Brian Jonestown Massacre to come to KC since NewChief turned me on to the DiG documentary about them, but it doesn't seem like they make it here very often. |

They were truly the first alternative station in the country and MTV, when it was a music channel, used to look to KROQ for guidance. |

KROQ, however, lives on. |
Honestly, not my favorite work from either guy.

Just something i bumped across but found interesting, Dave does an excellent interview... among other things, i had absolutely no idea the van halens were half indonesian.

They're Dutch-Indo, so not exactly Indonesian. I'm not sure if this video is full length but there's more than an hour of this interview out there, somewhere. |
Saw Van Halen in 1978/79 in New Orleans. A guy I worked with was from Cali and was bragging on them. Talked me into going. I wanted to go to see more titties.
I will always remember the first time I heard Van Halen. I remember the car, the highway, the moment as clear as it happened yesterday. The club held about 200 people, if that. I went in the space of 4 hours from not knowing that Van Halen existed to seeing them live in a small club. I left the club that night believing I had saw greatness. I had never seen or heard anyone play guitar like I saw on that night. |
