http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap100...st-draft-picks

saw this on their site. thought it was meh. but for a fan, especially one who wasn't around in the sixties, thought there was some (little) insight.

my bad if repost.

i know, right?

hurry up 3 weeks!!!! so i can be massively unimpressed.

or have a massive boner.

Deberg_1990 04-03-2013 06:16 PM

Anthony Hancock, Brian Jozwiak, Ethan Horton.....TyJack

chefsos 04-03-2013 06:26 PM

They didn't specify, but it looks as if they're ranking the best/worst first round picks. I guess digging deeper would require more research than they (or I, for that matter) would like to do. Oh, well.

I'm pretty old, but not old enough to remember Buchanan's career. I did catch the end of it. Must have been nice to have the #1 pick and use it on a guy who would simply change the way the game was played, fresh off a league championship.

Yeah, I guess it won't be popular in light of TG/DT, but I think Buck gets my vote.

notorious 04-03-2013 06:32 PM

I wipe my ass with that list.

Neil Smith above Derrick Thomas? Sly Morris worse than Sims?

Get the **** outta here!

I don't think they are listed like you're thinking.

Mojo Jojo 04-03-2013 06:40 PM

No Willie Scott?

SPATCH 04-03-2013 06:42 PM

Not sure why Sly Morris made that list...

Dude was the real deal before the injuries.

That knee injury destroyed him.

jd1020 04-03-2013 06:48 PM

No Donald Stephenson?!?!?!?!

gblowfish 04-03-2013 06:53 PM

Slo Mo and Percy Snow were both injury washouts.

Trezelle Jenkins was a horrible pick. Neil Smith humiliated him in training camp.
Anthony Hancock could run fast but couldn't catch a cold.
Jozwiak had arthritic knees and hips and they drafted him anyway.
The pick that absolutely hurt the worst was Blackledge, because of what we could have had otherwise.

I think the Blackledge pick has hurt for what it has done to the Chiefs psyche, more so than what they missed out on.

CrazyPhuD 04-03-2013 07:00 PM

WTH no Matt Cassel???? No Alex Smith???? Picks lost count as picks used and those two will likely do more damage than any of the listed ones(except maybe Blackledge)

Yep. I remember standing behind him @ TC up in River Falls that next summer and his friggin leg was so crooked :deevee: I don't know how he was walking without limping let alone running. Messed up.

I curse three things:

I curse Todd blackledge.

I curse Carl Peterson.

And I curse the day this team built the "super line" of the 2000's. Nothing but drafting dipshittery from this fanbase ever since.

We'll never win jack without a premiere, elite QB. That's a fact.

And if anyone would know, its the man who attends more games than all of us combined. No elite QB play equals no capitalizing equals defense losing steam and giving up. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Yeah, but something about a scooter injury just makes it so much worse with Snow.

Saw Sylvester Morris' name...anybody been around long enough to remember his mom getting on CP and raising hell with all the people who were bashing him on here?

Gonzo 04-03-2013 10:10 PM

Morris could've been something else. It's a shame that didn't work out. I remember thinking he was going to be a long term #1 WR after he tore the Chargers a new asshole.

Damn shame.

Rasputin 04-03-2013 10:30 PM

Harvey Williams didn't do much.

big nasty kcnut 04-04-2013 01:14 AM

paul palmer was pretty good i liked him. But Blackledge i hope he die in a fire while drinking antifreeze in a aids tree.

or we can draft a DT Buchanan and a LB Bell with our first two picks. That's the only time we won anything.

Ethan Horton was even worse than Palmer. He was so bad at RB, the Raiders ended up coverting him to Tight End after they picked him up.

HemiEd 04-04-2013 08:20 AM

I think Bobby Bell was the best pick ever, with DT right behind him. No dissing of Buck intended whatsoever, with Tony being in the top 5, but surely not the best.

Jenkins and Jozwiak were the biggest dumbass what were you thinking picks ever, especially Jozwiak because he was such a high 1st round pick. I will agree Blackledge set back the team the most because of his position and he played just well enough to make people believe he would improve, which he didn't.

So I give Jozwiak the prize because he was the biggest dumbass pick in this teams history.

Deberg_1990 04-04-2013 10:13 AM

People like to bag on the Jenkins pick, and yea he was a bust, but it really didnt set the team back. He was a late round flyer. and looking at that draft, there wasnt much of anything around where he was picked.

late round? he was a first rounder, man. hell, if you were going to go tackle, just freaking draft zach wiegert. he had a pretty damned decent career for the rams and a few other teams IIRC

Dayze 04-04-2013 10:42 AM

Carl will never shake that Blackledge pick.

gblowfish 04-04-2013 10:49 AM

Um...Carl didn't pick Sackledge. That would be the handiwork of Jack Steadman. He's in the Chiefs Ring of Honor, y'know....

Oh, come on man. That was an awful reach pick. Just terrible. I can overlook Slo Mo and Percy Snow because of injuries, but Jenkins was just wiping our ass with a number one pick. Terrible.

Ethan was bad. Palmer was bad. Harvey Williams was bad. Greg Hill was bad. Do we see a trend here???

He was #31 in the first round. How many of those guys turn into anything? He busted, but it didnt set the team back. When top 10 guys bust, that sets a team back.

You're right, the #31 pick never amounts to anything.... except:
2001: Todd Heap, TE Baltimore
2003: Nnamdi Asomugha, CB Oakland
2007: Greg Olsen, TE Chicago
2008: Kenny Phillips, DB, NY Giants
2009: Beanie Wells, RB, Arizona
2010: Jerry Hughes, DE, Indy

One thing I will say: If you're going to **** up a draft pick, better to **** up #31 than a top ten pick, like we did with Ryan Sims, Glenn Dorsey and Tyson Jackson.

kysirsoze 04-04-2013 11:40 AM

Good on Carl for getting anything in trade for Ryan Sims.
