Al Michaels arrested for DUI
http://www.cnn.com/2013/04/21/us/al-michaels-arrest/
Legendary sportscaster Al Michaels arrested, charged with DUI (CNN) -- The man revered for yelling "Do you believe in miracles?" as the U.S. hockey team upset the mighty Soviets in the 1980 Winter Olympics was arrested and charged with misdemeanor DUI in Southern California on Friday night, Santa Monica police said. Sgt. Ryan Gradle said Michaels, the current play-by-play announcer for NBC's "Sunday Night Football," was extremely cooperative and was released on his own recognizance Saturday morning. Michaels was arrested shortly before 10 p.m., then spent a little more than five hours in the Santa Monica City Jail, the Los Angeles Inmate Information Center said. He's scheduled to appear at Los Angeles Municipal Court at 8:30 a.m. on June 26. Neither Michaels nor NBC had immediate comment. CNN has reached out to Michaels' representatives for a response. |
Just a bad boy act to draw some new tail.
|
Can't stand him. Wouldn't bother me if he got shit canned.

DO YOU BELIEVE IN DRIVING DRUNK?
YES!!!! |
Moar Gus Johnson
**** al |
If Al Michaels is penalized by NBC beyond a slap on the wrist, then I'll believe in miracles.
|
Do you believe in over-inflated egos based on a famous phrase uttered three decades ago???!
|
Before 10pm? Who even begins to party before 10?

Always seemed like an asshole to me, but he is a good PBP announcer.
|
I don't understand why rich people aren't just driven anywhere.

Seemed a lot smarter than this to me. Don't know why if these people are gonna drink they just don't hire a driver to be on call. But then again, in today's world they would probably be drunk also. :doh!: |

In honor of Pat Summerall, no doubt.

I'm not getting why everyone has this "egotistical asshole" opinion of him, i've never once gotten that vibe from him, as far as i'm concerned he's one of the classiest and best in the biz.

Wish it had been Bob Costas instead, then maybe he would shut his horror mouth.
|
Not that he's excused, but it appears he blew a .08 exactly.
Dude probably played 36 holes at the club, stopped in the Men's Grill and had 2 cocktails and drove home. |
"OH MY!" - oops - wrong guy. :D

Quote:
****, there were probably 20 million people driving that day who had taken cold medication that were more "impaired" than him. Probably some dick cop trying to make a name for himself. |
Ease up. It happens.

I figure if LaRussa could keep managing after his DUI, Michaels can keep calling games.

must have relapsed

.08.
JFC, that was an expensive couple of beers. |
Probably had 1/2 a beer to pop .08

He could have took a drink, got in his car, and blew quickly after. I don't know if you can ask for a blood test or not. (Thank goodness) |
Way to be a wingman, Collinsworth.

Do you believe in getting a good beer buzz? YES.

DUI laws need to be changed.
I realize driving drunk is ****ing stupid, and I no longer do it because I nearly got busted and it's just not worth it... but I bet you $500 I'm a better driver at .1 - .15 then any Asian or old person on the road. At the very least they need to hand out citations for the 'fringe' 'on the border' drunk driving incidents rather than arrests. I understand if people disagree since honestly it's not that hard to get a ****ing cab...especially if you're Al Michaels. But if you are 5 beers deep there really is no ****ing reason you should get in trouble for driving...5 beers effects me in no way... BUT LEGALLY, I'd probably blow right around that 0.08 and at least around here that's all the police officers look for... |

that, to me, completely excuses him a 0.08 is just...NOTHING it's a joke I bet it'll get dropped. |
The whole dropping the legal limit from .10 to .08 was a bunch of bullshit anyway. Seems every time some drunk-ass mother****er crashes and kills a bunch of people they're always 2-3 times the legal limit, not .09 or .10.

Can we get some young announcers. Al is 68 years old.

They aren't easy to find, that's why Al is still working at 68 cause the networks will let him write his own check to keep him around. |
