What is the point,...

of the MLB subscription service if you can only see out of market games.

I don't get Fox Sports so I can never watch a Royals game. I was going to look into MLB TV but every Royals game isn't available to me. What a crock.

Might wanna check it out still. I can watch every game that is "blacked out" for me through my laptop, but not on my phone.

I bet you're brutal to waiters and waitresses, Guru. o:-)

C3HIEF3S 04-21-2013 08:55 PM

If you're willing to pay a little you can look into a VPN. I use Hide My Ass and i'm able to get any game that is blacked out whether it's nationally or locally.

How many are actually blacked out though? I might as well just find a stream and run with that. I am so sick of antiquated blackout rules.

can't use that on a phone or table though.

Hootie 04-21-2013 08:56 PM

it's because those networks shell out HUGE $$$ for those baseball rights and they aren't going to let MLB.TV play local games

same reason you can't get local games on Sunday Ticket

ChiefsCountry 04-21-2013 08:56 PM

Its called protecting local broadcast rights. Those stations pony up money for the rights and want you to watch them on their channel.

bullshit. I always tip a minimum of 15. If they deserve it, they get 20%.

I would feel different if local network stations were carrying the games. The only place I can see the Royals play is on Fox Sports and I'm not paying inflated cable rates to get that.

Hootie 04-21-2013 08:58 PM

and MLB.TV is commercial free

so if you're watching the games on MLB.TV in your local market you are robbing those networks of the advertising dollars they projected to receive to make those contracts logical purchases

Great Expectations 04-21-2013 08:58 PM

I'd just sign up for Fox sports, cheaper than extra innings.

No it isn't. Cable here is murder.

None other than the ones that are on during ESPN's Sunday Night games and Fox's Saturday games. Can't get around that unfortunately.

well then

I don't know what to tell you.

I have a hard time believing you can't find a cable/internet package with FSKC for $100 a month or even less

I would never even consider paying $100 for TV JFC.

Cable and internet.

...and that seems to be the going rate.

Not to be a dick, but you're just cheap. Can't really complain you don't get a channel and then complain you can't use a loophole with MLB.TV to rob the network of advertising revenue because you won't pay for a cable package.

Then make it available on Network TV like it used to be. I shouldn't have to pay $70 or more a month to get one ****ing channel I want.

TribalElder 04-21-2013 09:11 PM

I pull tv over the air for free, was looking at mlbtv and was excited about royals redsox being the free game of the day. Fail cause of blackout restrictions. lol, radio it is then. Glad I found out before buying a month of service

Jewish Rabbi 04-21-2013 09:12 PM

Yeah, I'm with Hootie on this one. If you don't want to pay for cable, why would you shell out $140 for mlb.tv?

$140 for MLB.TV is a hell of a lot cheaper than $70 per month.

Hootie 04-21-2013 09:13 PM

yeah but they can allow that because you can't get out of market games

and they do it without showing commercials

I don't watch anything but network TV so ZERO. I would pay up to $30 per month for a sports only package though.

Most cable companies offer a basic entry package for like $30 a month. Basically local channels and a few other channels. You might be able to add a sports package onto that, depends on the company.

Not here. You either get the absolute basic or you have to go full in. Nothing in between.

Bugeater 04-21-2013 09:19 PM

Buy one of those Slingbox thingies and give it to someone with cable and have them sling you the games.

I wouldn't want to ask someone to waste their bandwidth on me.

Bugeater 04-21-2013 09:27 PM

Well I'm fresh out of ideas then. Maybe just wait until the Royals go into the tank and then you won't want to watch them.

LMAO

Well, hopefully that won't happen. They actually have me interested for the first time in YEARS. Hell, I was interested enough to even spend money which is HUGE for me.
