Justin Upton: the Hank Aaron of our Era

What's up with this guy? He just launched his 10th homer today, which puts him on pace for what? 60? 65?

It's refreshing to see a five tool player like Upton doing so well in that department.

Let's put on the breaks there, bud, this season still has a lot left in the tank.

Jenson71 04-23-2013 01:30 PM

The Hank Aaron reference had to be done because of the Braves connection. I agree it's an overstatement.

Al Bundy 04-23-2013 01:31 PM

It will take the entire season for Moos and Hosmer to hit 10 home runs. They might have 10 home runs combined by the time July rolls around.

Frown all you want... Hosmer is turning into Ross Gload right before our eyes and Moose is popping everything up.

Demonpenz 04-23-2013 02:42 PM

it's just passed mid april.

Setsuna 04-23-2013 02:44 PM

I approve of this fail comparison.

Strongside 04-23-2013 02:46 PM

I'm just happy to see an African-American baseball player doing well. I know that there are several, but there aren't many superstars. The black baseball player is disappearing, and it's kind of sad.

Skyy God 04-23-2013 02:50 PM

LOL at Upton not being a good fit for the D-back's clubhouse.

Jerm 04-23-2013 02:51 PM

Yeah he doesn't "grind" enough...Braves absolutely fleeced them...he'll be a serious MVP candidate this year.

'Hamas' Jenkins 04-23-2013 02:55 PM

**** Upton. I had him for four straight years on my fantasy team, only to see him continually disappoint. Now, as soon as I let go of him he turns into Ken Griffy Jr.

chefsos 04-23-2013 03:09 PM

Even before the Roid Era, it seemed someone would have 10-12 bombs in April every year...and end up with 23. It's early.

Chief Roundup 04-23-2013 03:15 PM

It is early for all that talk and we will just find out that he is using PED just like the rest of them are.

He's not disappearing. He's actually Russel Wilson and Colin Kaepernick. It's not like they aren't offering these guys contracts, they just choose, in their minds, the more popular sport.

lol, h'es hot, but give him time he will come back down, it happens every year. Matt Kemp last year and the year before went offf, he hurt his shoulder and shit happens. He's started slow. 2 years ago Andre Either started off insanely hit and cooled down.

Give it time to even out.

Makes you wonder how reeruned people in front offices really are, let's trade this great talent for a "grinder" seriously?

Us Royals fans have seen this all before. "Can't miss prospects." Flaming out, and if you watch Hosmer he has turned into a slap hitter, with no pop to his bat. For a calendar year he has looked abysmal. So, for me to say he won't have 10 home runs all year isn't "April baseball fan" stuff, he will have to learn how to drive the ball again, and from the looks of his swing it will have to be done either in AAA or next off season.

Pasta Little Brioni 04-23-2013 06:19 PM

Waving the white flag already eh?

As a Royals fan, baseball usually wraps up around the end of April.

Not on the season, no way. Our starting pitching is too good, but if the batters don't get on the ball this will be a long season.

Pasta Little Brioni 04-23-2013 06:29 PM

They'll heat up. I think KC can stick around for awhile this season. They'll be tough.
