Jason Cole expects Chiefs to trade Albert for pick in '14
Branden Albert - T - Chiefs
Yahoo Sports' Jason Cole expects the Chiefs to end up trading Branden Albert for a second-round pick in 2014. Cole mentions the Lions, Chargers, and Cardinals as teams that remain left tackle-needy after the draft and might be interested in Albert. The Lions would make a lot of sense because internally they have major questions about Riley Reiff's viability at tackle and prefer him at guard. The Dolphins could also jump back into the bidding. Although the Albert-to-Miami draft-week trade fell through, the sides had agreed to parameters of a long-term contract. Related: Lions, Dolphins, Chargers, Cardinals |
Seriously? No... seriously?
|
Wouldn't be surprised that this happens. Don't see Albert staying put
|
told you they werent going to put up with him sitting out all training camp and showing up right before week 1
and having Fisher take all the reps at LT in training camp only to have Albert expect to play when he shows up or hog up 9 million on the bench. He's wasting cap space at this point |
At this point, unless it's something crazy like a 1st or multiple early picks, just keep him.
|
Make the trade with detroit. They will be picking top 5 again.....
|
Oh well. Do it soon. 9 mil is a lot of cheddar to free up.
|
I hope IF we trade him, the Dolphins guy gets hurt so Ireland is an idiot and gives up next years first.

He's not going to ride the pine. JFC, he's gonna get near 10 million dollars. He's gonna play wherever they tell him.
We heard he was ready to report to recent workouts but was told not to as a trade was being worked out. |
he wants a fat payday at LT
LG, C, RG, RT where ever else he loses A LOT of money so yes, he will put up a fight/become a cancer if he doesnt get his way at LT. Havent you heard this guy in interviews or on twitter the last couple months? because that's what all the signs point to. He just wants his. |

And Hosmer runs into an out....
Oh sorry, wrong thread. I'll be leaving now... |
Albert lost leverage by signing. He'll get fined now if he doesn't report.

He is under contract for the upcoming season, and if the Chiefs don't work a trade, he will be in for all the mandatory team activities, TC and preseason. And the rumor is that the Chiefs asked to pass on the voluntary workouts recently. |
If this recent trade no trade drama contractual stuff hasn't changed his mind, nothing will and he's a lost cause.

Dorsey said after day 1 that if no Albert trade was in play with the dolphins that the trade talks would end after the conclusion of the draft.
Also Reid said it looks as if Albert will not be traded. |

jesus...these guys don't work at kinkos |
Why cant we keep him this year then do it
|
It's never bad to have a kickass Oline, esp when you have the money to do it.
This year was a horrible top half of a 1st rd...if we spent #1 on a RT, then so be it. Having 2 top bookends is huge for any offense. |
With the contracts top guards have gotten, maybe he could be convinced to go in there for a year.
Doubtful but who knows. |
and we better trade his ass, we need the pick for that absurd Smith trade
and it keeps us from the being the first team in history to draft a RT with the #1 pick in the draft... |

so therein is the problem here. |
Arizona or Detroit would be ideal. They're almost certainly going to pick high again.
|
That pick would just go to SF. We won't get a 1st for him.

We better rape in the trade.

There might be a good free agent shake loose from somewhere with a late cut, it would be nice to have money. However, if he is an upgrade at a spot, just cut someone else or something.

did Dorsey chisel his response in stone and deliver his response from the top of a mountain? |

Basically we just give him to the Fins. |

If we are trading him for a nex years pick it should be a 1st.... thats how value works... if we wait till after this year then a second

we'll get whatever someone is willing to give which isn't going to be a first |

@JasonLaCanfora: With Miami not drafting a tackle high or dealing for Branden Albert from KC, keep in mind they've maintained contact with T Eric Winston
|
Next year draft picks are always notched up a round to equal the value of a current year draft pick.
A team should have to give us a 1st rounder in 2014 and get a 3rd back or something like that. Otherwise **** it. Let Albert walk after the tag. |

For example, when Brandon Carr restructured, they converted $13,250,000 of his 14 mil base salary into a bonus giving them only a cap hit of 750,000. |

If this whole situation didn't humble Alberts demands, he's truly a dumb shit and can walk.

Yeah, I think you spread a bonus, but take the hit on the cash cap, which IIRC, we are already close to.
|
There is a mandatory mini camp coming up in a couple of weeks.
We will see if Albert shows than. |
If they weren't prepared to play him on the tag, they shouldn't have tagged him.
I think he's probably here for the long haul. |
Houston is up pretty soon, right? Doesn't hurt to extend him before it becomes an issue.
|

Also Rapoport says Dorsey loves Albert the football player. |
When is the rookies mini camp and the entire team mini camp?
|
Quote:
|
Yeah, either Alberts agent is ****ing him over, or Albert is a dipshit.
|
If Dorsey trades him now it will be one more nail in the coffin. He's losing credibilty fast.
