L.A. Chieffan 04-30-2013 01:00 PM

a good set of knives are worth every penny

ChiefGator 04-30-2013 01:02 PM

Those are the knives I take with me when I'm hiking. WHen you only have room for one knife, but really need five.

loochy 04-30-2013 01:03 PM

You don't need to be rich to have a good set of knives. They are an investment that will last pretty much forever.

However, I don't know if those particular knives are quality. They have a cool space saving design though.

Scorp 04-30-2013 01:04 PM

Is that an assault knife?????? Ban em!

frankotank 04-30-2013 01:12 PM

a square tipped knife can't be good. :D

Better have a good sharpener handy. I'm guessing with the steel always touching other steel, and the constant taking them in and out of each other would wear them out badly. I do just about everything with one badass chef knife and one boning knife

That has to end up in the next Ninja fight in a movie. One throw, four maimed.

Actually, as far as knives go, there are much more expensive ones out there.

HonestChieffan 04-30-2013 03:03 PM

Im going to Italy in September and will pick up a nice set from Berti in Florence. Traditional, not some goofy thing like that deal in OP

I've got a set of Wustof knives that were about that much. My mom bought them for me for my wedding, but I still have them :D.

I've become disappointed with my Henckels. Recommendations?

Wustof.

I saw at one time you could purchase the knives individually. If you could pick up a chef's knife and a paring knife, that'd be a great place to start.

Thanks. I really only use my two chef's knives, so that will work fine.

Donger 04-30-2013 05:21 PM

Yes?

Not hard to make the decision there...

really? I love my 4 stars. I need to sharpen them again, but they've been great knives for over 10 years.

Yep. They simply don't keep an edge. I'm not really surprised though. I think I paid $300 or so for a whole block a few years ago.
