Yup but it has a hard time surviving with grass and attacks weak areas of the lawn where the grass is gone or thin...

Gonna take the tiller and scrape off the top real good and sow some new grass there

Maybe it's the new "super" strand of clover? You might want to get that checked out.

Don't mess with that shit. You've got a very rare four leaf clover patch ! If you will cut out patchs and take them to lawn & Garden stores you can get over $100 per batch. You're a lucky man. You need to water and fertilize it immediately.

OrtonsPiercedTaint 05-13-2013 05:54 PM

I really don't give a **** about my yard. Weeds, grass, hell it's all the same to me. It's all a Hallmark level scam.

2-4-D will kill it if you work at it. Clover is tough however.

I'd suggest Trimec 2-4-D, it seems to work better than something cheaper like LV400. Trimec has two other salts combined with it, LV400 just has the one.

And don't buy the premixed crap. By a jug of the concentrate and mix it yourself, at a little stronger rate. Then hit it about once a week.

I tend to agree, but I'll get nasty looks from all my neighbors if I don't keep mine looking respectable. I honestly don't understand why we as a society waste so much water and put so many chemicals into the ground just for purdy grass.

Bwana 05-13-2013 06:50 PM

Yeah, after I've already invested so much into the house, I'm like "**** the grounds."

Where do you live?

Once grass won't come back you have to plant, or sod. Grasses are perennials, but they do have a life span if they aren't allowed to reseed themselves.

Can't really tell from that picture but if the grass is dead in spots bugs are a definite possibility. Up here grubs are our worst enemy. Hit it with some kind of pesticide granual.

You might want to take a picture and take it to your local Earl May or whatever local nursery you have down there.

ANSWER THE DAMN QUESTION!!!

Buehler445 05-13-2013 08:47 PM

R8ers, get a dicamba type product out there. If you can get some, get an ALS inhibitor. Be careful with 2-4D and dicamba. They can volitalize and smoke your trees.

First world problems.

These are probably the same folks who squawk "OH NOEZ FRANKENFOOD! GMOZ DEBIL". When half their pesticide ends up in the gutter.

Why wouldn't it? I've killed plenty of clover over the years using it.

edit: Read remainder of thread and realized it wasn't clover

You don't aerate then seed. The seed that falls in the holes will die out.

Thanks... after further review the 2 4 d is killing the stuff, it's just a small isolated weak are in the lawn that hasn't filled in yet... Its been a very cool spring in NC, we actually had a frost warning but it did not get that cold.

You don't spend much time outside in your yard then or you would probably understand why it is important other than to look so so.

If I'm going outside, I'm going to the mountains. So yes, I agree. :)
