Charles Woodson agrees to one year deal with Raiders.

Oakland: where players go to die.

Concussion?

CoMoChief 05-21-2013 08:45 PM

hey remember when we signed Routt last season? lol

Bump 05-21-2013 08:52 PM

I think I woulda liked to grab him and let him play safety. He can still ball a little. Surprised he went back to Oakland though.

Word is he has a winery nearby and wants to work on it, seriously. He's retiring but not. Or something like that.

alpha_omega 05-21-2013 08:56 PM

Great player... Too bad I will have to begin hating him again.

Pathetic ROFL

I guess personal history mattered to Woodson. Maybe his wine business. But unless Denver made a horsedung offer, it's a strange decision.

If I were him, I'd rather just retire than waste a year of my life with that shithole of a team.

It really is a strange choice. Why not go somewhere and try to win? Unfortunately Denver should be pretty good.

Thig Lyfe 05-21-2013 11:58 PM

And Woodson would be "ring chasing" why, exactly? It's not like he hasn't won one yet. I'm sure it's purely a homecoming in anticipation of retirement either before or after the season.

Hopefully a good teacher and future coach for our young defensive backfield

But he went to the Raiders. "Where players go, to never actually make it to the playoffs."

He went and won 3 years in a row with the Raiders.... When was the last time the Chiefs won a playoff game and how old were you Cobber?

ChiefGator 05-22-2013 04:24 AM

I think it was supposed to say a one day contract with the Raiders.

Mother****erJones 05-22-2013 05:57 AM

Ya back in like 2001. The Raiders haven't been back to the playoffs in like 10 years. At least we've had some teams lately that's made it. Nothing to brag about but it's better than a decade of 2-14 and 5-11 that is the Oakland Raiders

Mother****erJones 05-22-2013 06:47 AM

@AdamSchefter: Earlier today on ESPN radio in Denver, Broncos CB Champ Bailey said there was "no friggin way" Charles Woodson would pick OAK. Well...

Donks made an offer that after figuring in taxes and cost of living that was actually worth more than what Woodson took with Oakland.

I doubt Woodson will be all that effective as a player on the field, but he'll be invaluable teaching Harden the ropes of playing CB in the NFL.

As bad as Oakland has been over the last five years, we've still managed to take the Chiefs to the woodshed more often than not, 7-3 Raiders.

Just for your viewing displeasure:

Not a big difference nor is it a stinging loss for Denver. He would have been a nice to have, not a need to have player.

Either way, going out to pasture to rot in the Black Butthole is a certainly a strange decision to make.

Huh? Elway put a one year deal on the table at cap friendly terms. Woodson choose to go by his winery. Denver has been doing well in FA the last couple years.

I'm going laugh my ass off this year @ Chump Bailey tripping over his feet in order to keep from looking like he is getting beat all the time. He won't be able to keep up this year and D Bowe is going shove him to the dirt.

I'm looking forward to seeing how those two games play out this year. Denver definitely needs to, and is trying to, get younger at Champ's position. With the Bronco offense this year a lot of teams may have to throw early and often to keep up.

Faiders train in Napa, he has a winery in Napa, they originally drafted him, he's in his last year and can set up for retirement there. I can see where that would be more important than winning this year. Sort of.

Yep we're pretty cheap. They just did $30M in stadium renovations, including adding the 4th largest scoreboard in professional sports, installed two HEATED fields at Dove Valley and are working on building an indoor practice facility. We so cheep
