As soon as the girl said that she had went through the same thing, his body language showed that he went into defense and closed himself off. It's probably a lingering reaction to what he had to do when his mother was abused, he just had to close himself to what was happening.

I watched "X-Men: The Last Stand" for the first time and I could've sworn this guy died. In fact, it was a woman who killed him. Talk about irony.

Yeah, you pretty much nailed it with this observation. I half-noticed the first time I watched, but when I watched it again it really jumps out. What an amazing clip.
