Patrick Stewart often talks about his childhood and the torment his father put him and his mother through. However, how he answered this vulnerable and brave fan's question is one of the most eloquent, passionate responses about domestic violence I've ever seen. WARNING: At 2:40, he's going to break your heart a little.

Just watched this on yahoo, its easy to see how passionate he is about the subject.

He still isnt the best Captain, but he's defintely a very nice man.

Great speech. Thanks for posting that.

I thought it was really neat that, even though I'm sure he resented his dad for all these years due to what happened to his mom, he now supports an organization that would have helped his mother as well as an organization that would have helped his father.

I've always figured if I lived in the Trek verse I'd be a spot chaser.. Cold hands and Trill Symbiosis Commission be damned.

He was epic at trolling Beverly.

"And then her knickers fell off, and I could see everything!!"

Sorry if inappropriate, but I can't see the man without fondly recollecting that scene.

Planetman 05-31-2013 09:45 PM

That's SIR Patrick Stewart.

You can tell by Stewart's visceral reaction (arms folded tight, restless body posture) how much that affects him to this day. Great video.

Violence is never... EVER... a choice that a man should make. The line must be drawn HYEEAHH! This far! No further!

Fish 06-01-2013 09:49 AM

He should make her a Sexy Cake.....

As soon as the girl said that she had went through the same thing, his body language showed that he went into defense and closed himself off. It's probably a lingering reaction to what he had to do when his mother was abused, he just had to close himself to what was happening.

Excellent observation, BTW. I love reading body language.

That was one of the first things I recognized. Closed himself off, almost defensive.

And I, will make them pay, for what they have done!

Donger 06-01-2013 10:38 AM

I wonder what Sean Connery thinks about this.

Good on him.

Sure-Oz 06-01-2013 01:39 PM

That was great

OrtonsPiercedTaint 06-01-2013 01:44 PM

Unless he and Martha Stewart do a prison porn video, I don't much care about Patrick.

Micjones 06-01-2013 04:53 PM

I watched "X-Men: The Last Stand" for the first time and I could've sworn this guy died. In fact, it was a woman who killed him. Talk about irony.

Yeah, you pretty much nailed it with this observation. I half-noticed the first time I watched, but when I watched it again it really jumps out. What an amazing clip.
