I call on the power of the Chiefsplanet Interwebz!!

This is one of those stuff the ballot box requests, I entered a picture in the National Geographic Photo Contest. I think its pretty cool, take a look and if you agree I'd love to have you like it.

Thats all no spam, no salesperson will call, no rules to learn. If you don't like the picture just pass and its all good. Any way here is the link to the contest:

Contest Link

http://travel.nationalgeographic.com...s/216607/view/

The picture is also listed in the CP Photo thread if you want to see a much much bigger version.

Would appreciate anyone that helps out with some rep and if I win anything I'll give a framed 36" x 12" copy of the print to someone that liked it. Fair enough?

Thanks and let me know if you did like it for your rep present.

Chiefsplanet link:

The large pic is about 3/4 of the way down the page at 50 posts per page.

Thanks!

yeah that's what I did and what I told my fb friends to do. I think you can also RATE each pic but it appears that LIKES will have as much impact as anything.

Neither could I. They did not do a coherent job of putting this together! Owell, we should at least try to LIKE the shit out of it so he gets the judges' attention!

I think it cuts off the "like" option after you do it once.

Buehler445 06-20-2013 09:48 PM

Done.

lewdog 06-20-2013 09:48 PM

Done and done. That is a glorious shot. Reminds me of why I love living in the Southwest and desert landscape.

It does. I actually used to program a whole set of backend tools to create and manage FB contests like this. The only way to "cheat" is to make a ton of FB profiles.. which is way more hassle than it is worth. Best thing to do for votes is to share it on FB.. which is exactly what Nat Geo wants to happen.

Yeah, I'm also confused on how to "vote" for it, but I'd did "like" it, and I HATE liking things so consider your ****ING RAD shot decent. Thanks for pointing out the Summer Triangle in the other thread. That field is so dense I never would have noticed it even though the ST is one of the things I always notice here when I star gaze.

Somewhere between 6,000 years and 13.8 billion years, depending.

My first though is...that is an incredible photo you should be proud of.

My second though is it sucks when big magazines have this because it is basically a rights grab to be able to use a bunch of photos and use them however they see fit under the guise of a contest.

A lot of companies in the outdoor industry do the same with thing.

Video contest guys! Best footage using our product in the field wins xxx. A couple hundred guys jump at the opportunity to give them free use of their work while trying to win a $100 dollar prize and the company collects enough free footage to make most of next years new commercials without all the work.

Amazing shot, Dave!

crazycoffey 06-21-2013 03:42 AM

It's fairly difficult to do, when you need an account to vote, in this case, a Facebook account.

I wish the naked eye could take in that much light and process that much detail and scale.

The "ring" of he galaxy along with the "ring" of the Delicate Arch is a nice touch.
