Bringing alcohol on a plane as your carry on?

By now a lot of people know you can bring your own alcohol on an airplane as a carry on as long as it adheres to the 3oz rule and 1 quart baggie rule.

It is illegal to pour your own drink on board, but has anybody thought about asking the flight attendant to pour the little drink for you?

I'm heading out to Vegas in a couple days and plan to do it the right way, and I'm not paying the $7 per drink on the plane.

Jarni 07-19-2013 08:09 PM

That's a great idea. Let me know if you can! I was unaware of the bring your own drink on board concept too, so nice to know. Last time I flew they didn't trust you with anything so had to throw away liquids before getting on the plane.

KCrockaholic 07-19-2013 08:12 PM

I bought 5 of those little whiskey bottles from the liquor store for about $2-$3 each.

Getting them on the plane as carry on is perfectly legal, just the mixing your own drink thing is what raises my curiosity.

Even if they won't pour it for me, I'll say **** em and pour it in my coke when they aren't looking!

Meh, if you do it and are smart about it, no Issue. What they don't know, won't hurt them.

Yeah it's not that hard to slip something in a cup of soda, especially if you have a window seat, but if the attendants do have an issue with it, I wonder if they would pour it for me. I believe the only reason they won't let you pour your own is because they want to moderate your alcohol intake. Don't want people acting like idiots on the plane.

You NEED to drink that bad?

MahiMike 07-19-2013 08:21 PM

I remember when I used to come back from Europe w/2 cases of beer and 2 cases of wine. I still managed to bring back about 6 bottles this time. But not in my carry on.

Damn terrorists are still winning.

My thoughts as well. Just wait till you get off the plane. I've never understood why people get toasted while flying???

Some people fear it. Some people need to sleep.

Have you ever been on 15 hour flights before? There's pretty much nothing to do other than read, eat, watch an in-flight movie and drink.

Or, if you're heading to party in Vegas or Cabo, there's nothing like a little Pre-arrival drinking to get the party started.

I'm going to a bachelor party, and it'll be my first Vegas experience, so yeah, plenty of drinking will be happening all week.

Sassy Squatch 07-19-2013 08:35 PM

How the **** would that be a 15 hour flight?

Ace Gunner 07-19-2013 08:37 PM

ya first class is great. I'm looking at a trip to africa -- looked at standard seating -- $6k RT... then looked at first class -- $18k RT.. I like to travel first class, but maybe not that much.

I remember coming back from Mexico a few years ago. Sat at the outdoor bar and drank until the shuttle came. I probably pushed it to about the limit of them even letting me on the plane. Had never really thought about this carry on liquor thing, but I can't see them liking it much.

I flew to Kinshasa this year. 8 hrs to Paris, 5 hour layover, 8 more to The Congo. The flight back was way worse, and Air France doesn't stock bourbon.

New York, New York. It's a group of 8 of us total. 3 of us are staying at NYNY, and the other guys are splitting between a couple other hotels because they had free rooms. My group will kind of be all over the strip.

Stay on the strip after midnight. It gets kinda sketchy on Fremont late at night.

Vegas is it's own kind of animal. I love it there actually. But I have a bit of a giambiling problem when I get a bit to inebriated.

I like strippers too and well.....there are a ****load of stunning strippers in Vegas.

O.city 07-19-2013 09:45 PM

Yeah, really, all you really need is on the strip.

Best time I've had in Vegas was being at Mandalay during the NCAA tourney first weekend.

And I'd love to come out, but with the wife going into labor any second now, I'd be hard to go unnoticed.

Eureka 07-19-2013 09:46 PM

On a recent flight from PR to Boston I just snuck a pint of Don Q on and we just poured our own drinks. The flight had free juice or soda. Just be low-key and you should be fine!

KCrockaholic 07-19-2013 09:46 PM

Well I plan to do my first sports bet while I'm out there. Hoping to put something down towards the NFL season. And no, it won't be on the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl.

mikeyis4dcats. 07-19-2013 09:46 PM

you could also purchase a drink in the gate area, drink some, and mix your cocktail discreetly in the gate.

That's what I'm thinkin man. I won't be talking on the plane much to bug other passengers. I'll be reading my fantasy football magazine for 2 hours, and a couple of drinks would go well with that.

Strippers, hookers, drinking, gambling, all you can eat food, no clocks - what could possibly go wrong?

:D

If you find yourself exceeding your daily limit and hitting up your credit card for a cash advance, it's time to head home.

The chick to my right had had a D cup boob job and kept telling me how sensitive her nipples were since the surgery. Do yourself a favor! Mixed drinks like absolute&vodka or gin&tonic usually have one shot per drink so if you have one every half hour you can be buzzed all day and maintain while enjoying Vegas! The key is to start in the morning and last through the night then laugh at your buddies while their throwing up.

Don't steal Mike Tyson's tiger. That pisses him off.

As for the drink thing... yeah, asking the stewardess to pour it is pretty dumb. It's akin to sneaking food into a movie theater and then asking the usher if they can take your Ziploc full of popcorn out to the stand and put some butter on it for you. If you're gonna bring the liquor on board, just sneak it into the drink yourself.
