Bringing alcohol on a plane as your carry on?
By now a lot of people know you can bring your own alcohol on an airplane as a carry on as long as it adheres to the 3oz rule and 1 quart baggie rule.
It is illegal to pour your own drink on board, but has anybody thought about asking the flight attendant to pour the little drink for you? I'm heading out to Vegas in a couple days and plan to do it the right way, and I'm not paying the $7 per drink on the plane. |
That's a great idea. Let me know if you can! I was unaware of the bring your own drink on board concept too, so nice to know. Last time I flew they didn't trust you with anything so had to throw away liquids before getting on the plane.
|
I bought 5 of those little whiskey bottles from the liquor store for about $2-$3 each.
Getting them on the plane as carry on is perfectly legal, just the mixing your own drink thing is what raises my curiosity. Even if they won't pour it for me, I'll say **** em and pour it in my coke when they aren't looking! |
cool -- let us know when you are done bailing outta jail

Meh, if you do it and are smart about it, no Issue. What they don't know, won't hurt them.

Do not let Bogey in this thread please.

You NEED to drink that bad?

I remember when I used to come back from Europe w/2 cases of beer and 2 cases of wine. I still managed to bring back about 6 bottles this time. But not in my carry on.
Damn terrorists are still winning. |

Have you ever been on 15 hour flights before? There's pretty much nothing to do other than read, eat, watch an in-flight movie and drink. Or, if you're heading to party in Vegas or Cabo, there's nothing like a little Pre-arrival drinking to get the party started. |

I'm going to a bachelor party, and it'll be my first Vegas experience, so yeah, plenty of drinking will be happening all week.
|
How the **** would that be a 15 hour flight?
|
ya first class is great. I'm looking at a trip to africa -- looked at standard seating -- $6k RT... then looked at first class -- $18k RT.. I like to travel first class, but maybe not that much.

We had an 15 hour flight when we went to Italy, it was awful. Thankfully, they had some good scotch.

I remember coming back from Mexico a few years ago. Sat at the outdoor bar and drank until the shuttle came. I probably pushed it to about the limit of them even letting me on the plane. Had never really thought about this carry on liquor thing, but I can't see them liking it much.

some airlines will serve it to you (JetBlue for one has that policy) others will not.

Awesome.
I've never stayed at NY NY. Stayed at Ceasars, the Belagio, and Planet. Vegas is great. Watch it though, shit can get outta hand fast. |

Honestly coming back alive and with all my limbs is my main goal here. I plan on getting pretty crazy otherwise. |

Vegas is it's own kind of animal. I love it there actually. But I have a bit of a giambiling problem when I get a bit to inebriated. I like strippers too and well.....there are a ****load of stunning strippers in Vegas. Actually, **** man, take me with you. Things are more fun when they get out of hand anyway. |

Yeah, really, all you really need is on the strip.
Best time I've had in Vegas was being at Mandalay during the NCAA tourney first weekend. And I'd love to come out, but with the wife going into labor any second now, I'd be hard to go unnoticed. |
On a recent flight from PR to Boston I just snuck a pint of Don Q on and we just poured our own drinks. The flight had free juice or soda. Just be low-key and you should be fine!
|
Well I plan to do my first sports bet while I'm out there. Hoping to put something down towards the NFL season. And no, it won't be on the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl.
|
you could also purchase a drink in the gate area, drink some, and mix your cocktail discreetly in the gate.

The wife and I bought a bottle of tequila in the airport on our way back from the honeymoon, had some drinks on the plane.
Like mentioned, if you keep it low key, it's not really a big deal. |

:D If you find yourself exceeding your daily limit and hitting up your credit card for a cash advance, it's time to head home. |

Yeah, leave the credit card in the room. No cash for advance.
|
I plan on spending cash everywhere I go rather than card. That way I kind of have a limit.

I always bring some on. Pour my jack into my coke. Never a problem.

So......when are ya headed back to Vegas again Dane? I'll be your wingman. :D |

Yes. You can do this. Im sure the airline doesnt like it but what are they gonna do when u are up there? Kick you out?
|
Sneak pour you own smugglers. Don't ask for assistance - **** that.

I don't fly sober.

I sit first class and drink up

Don't steal Mike Tyson's tiger. That pisses him off.
As for the drink thing... yeah, asking the stewardess to pour it is pretty dumb. It's akin to sneaking food into a movie theater and then asking the usher if they can take your Ziploc full of popcorn out to the stand and put some butter on it for you. If you're gonna bring the liquor on board, just sneak it into the drink yourself. |
