Jeremy Maclin tears ACL

Eagles confirm reports that Jeremy Maclin tore ACL in right knee during today's practice. Brutal.
Please, football gods...spare us shit like that this season.

OnTheWarpath15 07-27-2013 03:37 PM

Was going to post, decided against it. I read somewhere that they fear a complete blowout - ACL and MCL.

SAUTO 07-27-2013 03:37 PM

Yeah its in the tc thread. Along with a rumor of a browns player dying on the field

DeezNutz 07-27-2013 03:38 PM

Shit. Good dude and good player. I don't give a shit about the Eagles, but I hate when this shit happens to anyone and any team.

Chiefs Pantalones 07-27-2013 03:39 PM

Dennis Pitta dislocated his hip, will likely miss opener against the Donkeys.

Calling it right now. Ed Dickson will have a break out year. All he needed was more time to get his timing down with Flacco and this should do it.

@RavensInsider: According to medical journals, high-performance athletes typically regain full function in three to four months following hip dislocation

BlackHelicopters 07-27-2013 03:49 PM

Brutal for Maclin

FD 07-27-2013 03:51 PM

That's awful. This was his contract year, too.

Yes but now Dickson gets the entirety of training camp and preseason and a few games to get the timing down. At that point it will be hard for Pitta to totally unseat him. Dickson has a bigger upside but just hasn't put it all together... yet.

Season at least half over

It really depends on the person, the severity of the hip dislocation and how the recovery and rehabilitation goes. He may come back sooner or later. But as AustinChief mentioned, they have a guy in Dickson that is just as good but hasn't really put it all together yet. They should be fine.

DJ's left nut 07-27-2013 04:06 PM

Brutal break for a good kid.

Well hey, maybe it will make him cheaper in the offseason...

I feel like a terrible person when I am bummed that it may or may not effect my fantasy football leagues.

But, regardless it sucks - seems like a good kid and he's a pretty good ballplayer.

Trevo_410 07-27-2013 04:22 PM

welp, there goes the value on all 80 or so card collection I have on maclin.

Was never really going to sell them anyways, will always be a fan.

Suck. Kelly has to be thinking life is awful.

GordonGekko 07-27-2013 05:50 PM

Horrible to hear, especially this being a Mizzou kid whose star was on the rise.

This would be like Bowe going down, absolutely devastating for the Eagles.

AussieChiefsFan 07-27-2013 06:16 PM

Shit, sounds like there's no coming back from that one this year. Good luck to him, but it doesn't sound good.

Chiefs Pantalones 07-27-2013 06:18 PM

Pitta is now out for the year.

Yea, I just saw Jason Cole's tweet. I was like holy crap. We go from missing the opener to the entire season. Guess he had to go in for surgery and that was that.

So from last season Flacco has lost Boldin and Pitta.

Brady has lost well, about everybody.

Damn, somebody better stop the damn Orange Manning's.

This does look good for my prediction of the Bungals winning the North however.

Rain Man 07-27-2013 07:19 PM

That's too bad.

DTLB58 07-27-2013 07:44 PM

Interesting factoid:

@ESPNStatsInfo: Dennis Pitta's 3 dropped passes are tied for 2nd-fewest by any tight end targeted 100+ times since start of 2012

Fewest: Anthony Fasano, 1

houstonwhodat 07-27-2013 08:19 PM

Eagles will be snakebit until they get rid of Michael Vick.

Not to worry. Elway has already started that ball rolling making sure there are no controversies/distractions going into 2013:D Contrary to popular belief across the NFL media/fan base, I have a strong feeling that this season will not be kind to Elway Manning:D

Elway is being exposed for all his covering up that has eventually blown up in his face and his trust with donkey fans is not good right now.
Elway hides Tom Heckert's DUI he received back in May until a drunk Russell ran into a cop car that couldn't be hidden because of the severity of the DUI or else IMO Elway would have hidden Russell's DUI as well. Once the press out here realized that Elway hid Heckert's DUI they got to thinking what else is Elway and crew hiding ? Lo and behold Von Miller ! Elway has been hiding Von Miller's issues of failing 3 drug tests that involve 'weed and amphetamines' that actually started in Von's rookie year that have recently come out in the open now. And this last failed 3rd test happened weeks ago and is already in the appeal stage with Goodell which means Elway has been keeping this 'mums the word' until we have to reveal it. But looking back it was Russell's boner in Breckenridge that started the domino effect of exposing all this coverup crap.

Granted Elway can't totally control his staff or players "off the field crap" but it needs to be exposed immediately when it happens so as to not come off Nixoniesh to the public. The coverup is what always gets you. Somebody needs to give Elway some PR lessons on "when sh** hits the fan" for your company.

But it is enjoyable listening to all these pissed off and highly worried donkey fans begin to actually worry that their season may not get off to a fast start:D

Damn. How bad does a player have to be for no one to be sure whether he's dead?

69 Rec, 857 yards and 7 TD's. With their QB situation and as a #2 that's about where you would expect that to be IMO. If we could get that opposite Bowe, let's say outta Baldwin, we would all be pretty freaking happy.

ChiefAshhole20 07-27-2013 11:41 PM

He has KC 2014 written all over him... Coming off a knee injury, he's going to want to have a bounce back season with a system he's familiar with, and KC will be able to get him for cheap since he's coming off major knee injury, but he would absolutely fill the #2 WR spot if healthy.
