36 cheapestbeers

http://deadspin.com/36-cheap-america...nked-638820035http://deadspin.com/36-cheap-america...nked-638820035

sorta of a spin off thing of the 50 beers
I have drank 24 of them

an they missed the cheapness and horror of hammer 30 and big faults( the walgreen brand 3.33 a six)

Rasputin 07-27-2013 09:43 PM

It doesn't get any cheaper than OPB beer.

Fat Elvis 07-27-2013 09:50 PM

No Hudy's Delight? That shit was like $.25 a beer back in the day.

CrazyPhuD 07-27-2013 09:50 PM

I think there's 5 on there I've never had...but I'd still drink Beast over most low range beers because it's what I got used to in college.

CrazyPhuD 07-27-2013 09:52 PM

BTW where would these fit in?

Consistent1 07-27-2013 10:04 PM

How about Steel Reserve? That shit is beyond nasty.

stonedstooge 07-27-2013 10:10 PM

Back in the day, BuckHorn was the beer of choice in my small Missouri town for those who only had a buck fifty.

AndChiefs 07-27-2013 10:19 PM

No Shiner? Maybe he didn't want to rank anything lower than all the others.

Bugeater 07-27-2013 10:42 PM

Grain Belt is his best cheap beer? Are you ****ing kidding me? I made the mistake of buying a 6 pack of that nasty swill one time and it was without question the absolute worst beer I ever drank. I couldn't even finish one bottle of it...and I threw the rest away. It was THAT bad.

blaise 07-27-2013 10:42 PM

He seems like an idiot. Cream Ale and Yuengling aren't bad.

Miles 07-27-2013 10:57 PM

I have drank 23 of them and many of the other I had not heard of. Agree with his ranking of Coors. Yellow buddy is probably the best cheap domestic.

May not have it up in Boston? I used to like Shiner a lot more than I do now. Maybe the quality has changed but it could also be my preference.

Bugeater 07-27-2013 11:00 PM

People actually drink regular Coors? I've never had it and I don't even recall ever seeing anyone drinking it ever.

pr_capone 07-27-2013 11:04 PM

11. Medalla Light. Puerto Rican beer is American beer, buster. I drank a hundred million of these on my honeymoon and I suggest you do the same.

This is actually really good beer as far as non craft beer goes.

Grain Belt tastes like pennies.

:Lin: What's up with TX people linking Yuengling....I lived in Pittsburgh and couldn't stand that swill. It always tasted like someone took shit beer and let it sit out in the hot sun for a week to ferment.....Hell I'd rather drink Rolling Rock than Yuengling.

I actually can't find it here in Texas. I drink it when I'm in Florida.

Well if you can only find it in FL that should tell you something!!!!:Poke:

Deberg_1990 07-27-2013 11:33 PM

Name Tag...hmmm...might have to try that.

That's....pretty much what I do.

KCUnited 07-28-2013 07:18 AM

Name Tag isn't bad. I buy the hell out of it at TJ's if I'm having any sort of party at my place. It's a bit of a placebo, since many haven't heard of it, they don't know it's cheap.

There was a Safeway brand called Brown Derby that would go on sale for 75 cents a six pack in the 80's. It was almost free, but it tasted like skunk wizz. Brown Derby is to beer what Old Crow is to whiskey.

I don't drink it in TX. I lived in Central PA for 3 years and drank it when I lived there.

I don't care for regular Yuengling, but their black and tan is good on tap.

Name tag has a funky sweet aftertaste to it for me. My buddy drinks it with some regularity but I skip it.

Narragansett is pretty solid cheap beer, I could only find it in Wisco though.

It does have a distinct aftertaste, reminds me of High Life. I certainly don't drink it with any regularity, but I'll fill an aluminum water trough with it if I'm having people over.

Predarat 07-28-2013 08:09 AM

Cant believe they left out Old Style.

If I am not mistaken, regular Coors is the banquet beer. You can only get it at banquets I am guessing.

I had old style at wrigley field. It wasn't bad

beach tribe 07-28-2013 09:02 AM

In HS we used to get Red Dawg and SouthPaw for 3 bucks a spack.
Both thoroughly horrible, but we would put away cases of it.

scho63 07-28-2013 09:03 AM

I drank very few of these beers and only because some cheap prick pulled out 3 or 4 cases at their shitty picnic and there was nothing else.

I worked with a guy 25 years ago that loved Genny Cream Ale and to this day, he is the only person I have ever seen drink that.

Here is real cheap garbage I drank once in high school before I discovered Heinekens....

QFT

I had a banquet at my house just so I could drink some with Sam Elliot.
We got ripped and start acting out Road House scenes.
I grabbed a tiki torch, twirled as I spun, pointed and said "You, old man"
It didnt end well.

Buns 07-28-2013 09:19 AM

I think Name Tag is pretty gross the one time I had it and I'll drink Genny Cream everyday of the week and thrice on Sundays. YMMV

beach tribe 07-28-2013 09:19 AM

When it was over I was like "I like your style, dude"

mikeyis4dcats. 07-28-2013 09:46 AM

I don't mind Genny Cream Ale from time to time. There's a pizza place here that sells it for $1.50 a bottle, and I'll have one sometimes.

It's premium beer so it shouldn't be that bad..

blaise 07-28-2013 11:57 AM

Cream Ale is brewed in Rochester, NY. In Western NY a lot of people call them, "Genny Screamers." The reason why, I guess, is that they would supposedly make you have to take a painful dump the next day.

This. This is the worst thing I've ever put in my body.

I had a friend in KC request that I bring some back over a holiday. Apparently he had some while visiting Marquette and had fond memories of it. It was $1.75 for a 4 pack of tall boys. In the clearance section. All these things should have thrown up red flags. But being young I thought, what the heck, and I bought the store out.

Terrible, terrible swill. And the worst hangover I have ever had in my entire life. Praying for the sweet release of death bad.

notorious 07-28-2013 12:04 PM

Coors should be #1

The Beast should be #11tybillion

There's a regional liquor store called Dirt Cheap Liquors. It's their brand of beer. I've never tried it, but if you're ever in St Louis, they have several locations
