Jon Baldwin has been traded to the 49ers
Per Petro right now. Very sketchy info at this time
|
Cool.
|
Harbaugh liked what he saw? Was he paying attention?
|
Time for the ol' well... bye
Good riddance, slacker |
I hope we got our 2nd rounder back but I am guessing no chance.
|
compensation being?
|
Umm...wow. Even if it's a 6th rounder, I think we may have won that trade.

If this is true, im pretty sure the Chiefs got bent over in this deal.

Swap for Jenkins?
|
Wow! I can't believe we got anything for him. Even if it's a 7th or a scrub, it's a good deal.
|
ugh.
it's not that im sad to see him go, i'm sad to see the wasted pick...AGAIN |

Cements his place as an all time terrible trezelle like bad pick.

I'd JIMP. Granted, it may be garbage in/garbage out - but new garbage is new garbage. Baldwin may succeed somewhere, but it won't be here. |

@TomPelissero: Filed to @USATODAYSports: Barring a last-minute snag in negotiations, the #49ers are going to trade A.J. Jenkins to the #Chiefs.
|
dang it. one less weapon for Smith.

"The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Monday that the club has acquired wide receiver A.J. Jenkins via trade with the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for wide receiver Jon Baldwin.
“We felt like this trade was beneficial for all parties involved,” Chiefs General Manager John Dorsey said. “A.J. is a talented individual with a skillset that we feel can add value to our football team. Jon Baldwin is a hardworking player and a professional. We wish him nothing but the best moving forward.” Jenkins (6-0, 200) saw action in three NFL games with the 49ers in 2012. He originally entered the NFL as a first-round draft pick (30th overall) with San Francisco in the 2012 NFL Draft. The Jacksonville, Fla., native played collegiately at Illinois where he was a first-team All-Big Ten wide receiver. He caught 167 passes for 2,432 yards (14.6 avg.) and 19 touchdowns for the Fighting Illini. Baldwin (6-4, 230) has played in 26 games (10 starts) in two NFL seasons with the Chiefs (2011-12). He’s caught 41 passes for 579 yards (14.1 avg.) and two touchdowns. Baldwin originally entered the NFL as a first-round draft pick (26th overall) of the Chiefs in the 2011 NFL Draft. The Aliquippa, Pa., native played collegiately at Pittsburgh and prepped at Aliquippa High School. " kcchiefs.com |

Damn thats a let down. One bust for another. They probably talked and were like hey we are both cutting these guys lets swap and see if a change in scenery helps either one of them.
No risk. |

Jenkins has, by all accounts, been awful this TC and likely wouldn't have even made the team, but whatever - maybe this can be a jump start for him. I still like Baldwin's talent and I still think some day the light may go on and he could amount to something. All that said, he's not going to amount to anything here. I remain convinced that Thomas Jones absolutely altered the course of Baldwin's career by being a dipshit thug. |
Good trade.
|
On the bright side, Jenkins has only one year of fail compared to two for Baldwin.
|
****ing LOL
|
It'll be curious to see if either of these guys end up getting cut before the regular season starts.
|
trey wingo @wingoz 1m
Baldwin for Jenkins? Sounds like let's see if this bust is less of a bust at your place. |
A former first rounder? thats kinda cool... if he's any faster this is a win.
|
@KCChiefs_Reid: It's official, the @KCChiefs have traded WR Jon Baldwin to the San Francisco 49ers for WR A.J. Jenkins, the team announced today.
|
Solid trade for both parties. Jenkins fits the Andy Reid's West Coast style, Baldwin fits the 49ers' MartyBall style.

AJ may turn out to suck in the end but it can't be any worse than Bigfoot Baldwin. Maybe reuniting him with a couple former teammates will do him well. I know he showed flashes of being great in college.
|
"Chiefs traded Baldwin, and next year's 1st for the 49er's A.J. Jenkins"
|
Man, our offense is really, really bad.

So what kind of receiver is Jenkins? 6'0 and 200 looks kind of small - so is he a speed burner guy?

Baldwin will probably explode with the 49ers. mean while, Aj Jenkins will be the same sack of shit he was with the 49ers. All the talent in the world. They could of drafted Coby Fleener, or Stephen Hill, but no, they drafted that trash bag, and now the Chiefs have traded for him......WOW.
|
Yep, confirmed on kcchiefs.com (Wow, would have taken 3 months to confirm under peehole.)

This shows Jenkins at 6'1" 190lbs and ran a 4.37 40.
http://nflcombineresults.com/playerpage.php?i=9802 Definitely faster than Baldwin. |

That was a response about him getting cut you stupid mother ****er. |
Hard to comprehend
|
So....how many times did Alex target Jenkins last year?

Just initially - I think the #chiefs win - AJ is a better athlete, much faster, w/ more upside. Andy will get him going |
|
Quote:
Sometimes the realization that your team thinks you suck and followed by a change of scenery is enough to wake a guy up. We'll see, atleast he's got some quicks. |
So we trade for a speed WR and have a QB that won't pass the ball further than 4 yards downfield?
|
Stanzi, you're next.
|
AJ is younger and may or may not look like ass considering he's played in only 3 games. So, Chiefs win?
|
Quote:
Baldwin's a big, 'vertical' WR that thrives on those jump balls and downfield passes where he can just use his body and size to take the ball away from guys. Granted, he's not done it here, but if he makes it, that will be how. He's doomed in a WCO - he's not quick enough in and out of his cuts to succeed in this offense. He has little chance to really realize his potential anywhere, but he had no chance at all to realize it here. This move can only help him. As for Jenkins; he's more of a cut and run guy. And to whoever asked if he has any speed - yup, lots and lots of it. Perhaps Andy sees some DeSean Jackson in him. This is a smart deal by (I hope) two very smart organizations. Like I said, it's very likely to be garbage in, garbage out, but both of the principals to the trade are significantly more likely to succeed where they're going than where they've been. |
Peter King's sources say that Jon Baldwin has everything it takes to be a Pro Bowl receiver.

49ers reached to draft Jenkins last year. He was a late 3rd/4th round talent IMO. I think he projects out to a fringe #2 or a solid #3.

Bad players are just bad players. We're in dire need of a WR. |
worst case, he sucks and is as bad as Baldwin
best case, he can actually get open and catch. |

Solid logic. |
would of rather had them cancel the Smith compensation pick next year
