Thoughts, brethren? Predictions?

Should be a quick week.

Strongside 09-01-2013 04:35 PM

I honestly think we win this game by at least 14.

"They pass a lot"
".........."

It'd be a lock if it was at Arrowhead. Either way I'll be disappointed if they lose, and I'm really curious to see what they're actually doing on offense and defense.

007 09-01-2013 04:46 PM

We damn well better win this game.

Pablo 09-01-2013 04:49 PM

They'd better win by 7. I don't care if it's on the road and they're working out the kinks and all that nonsense.

Jacksonville is hot garbage. And Alex Smith is supposed to be Reid's dream. The offense should perform. And perform well.

TEX 09-01-2013 04:53 PM

KC - 20

JAC - 17

I think the Special Teams wins it for the Chiefs.

Not to jump the gun or anything, but Charles should have an amazing day against the Cowboys. Their Dline is shit. Teams with even adequate Oline play should run all over them this year.

Sorry, back to the Jags.

Sweet Daddy Hate 09-01-2013 04:55 PM

If we don't win this game, just cancel the rest of the ****ing season, 'cause it's over.

Interesting match up is T Jax vs L Joeckel. T Jax should have his way with him if T Jax was any good. He never gets sacks so really this is a good game for him to get one.

Also I think Justin Houston shouldn't have any problems on his way to the quarterback. I'm predicting at least two sacks or more from Justin Houston.

BlackHelicopters 09-01-2013 05:03 PM

What kinda of shitball announcers are we getting?

Hog's Gone Fishin 09-01-2013 05:07 PM

I think our season goes as this game goes:

We lose, we go 7-9

We win marginally , we go 8-8,9-7

We smoke their ass , we go 10-6,11-2

mikey23545 09-01-2013 05:09 PM

Chiefs 27

I think we'll win. But I think it will be more painful than it should be. At most we win by 7.

I'm going to miss the game. I'll have to DVR it and watch it Sunday evening when get back.

The Chiefs should win handily, but have a history of struggling in the state of Florida.

We will lose because we cut our good special teams players

This will probably not happen.

It's hard for me to get too amped up for opening days after the last couple of seasons.

2011: WERE GONNA SMOKE BUFFALO! THEY SUCK!!!
Buffalo 41-7

2012: WE GOT A REAL SHOT AGAINST ATLANTA!!
Atlanta 40-24

That being said...WE'RE GONNA DESTROY THE SOULS OF JACKSONVILLE.

Yeah, if there's ever a time for a supposedly inferior team to take one by surprise, it's week one.

Hog's Gone Fishin 09-01-2013 06:19 PM

2-14 teams we are

And the Chiefs having 6 probowlers and recruiting one of the best HC's in the league makes us winners.

34-12

Rasputin 09-01-2013 06:19 PM

I think for the season Jamaal Charles can put up numbers 1400 to 1500 rushing and 500 to 800 receiving yards. High and low end.

Hog's Gone Fishin 09-01-2013 06:22 PM

Terrel Davis just said on NFL network that Charles will be the leading rusher in week 1 with 200 +

Lonewolf Ed 09-01-2013 06:25 PM

Missing the game for a 30 year to late rock concert? I hope you have some hot women all lined up ready to put out, if not , you should turn in your fan card.

crossbow 09-01-2013 07:26 PM

Chiefs will win. Their defense and special teams will give their offense field position all day. Chiefs will intercept at least 1 pass and cause at least 1 fumble.

Hammock Parties 09-01-2013 07:31 PM

We surrender at least 150 yards rushing, and lose late in the game.

People blame the defense instead of Alex Smith.

the Talking Can 09-01-2013 07:31 PM

now that we no longer have our ace gun specialists, I'm worried

RINGLEADER 09-01-2013 07:33 PM

Personally, I think it all comes down to defense. If Blaine Gabbart starts lighting it up then it could be a real problem. If we can bottle him up early I think it is a rout - really a rout. I'll be surprised if we give up a lot of rushing yards so I see a lot of 3rd and longs.

I feel about this game the way I did when we played the Dolphins when they were a hot mess a couple years ago. In that case Matt Moore came in and lit it up early and had us on our heels. If we avoid making Gabbart looking like a Pro Bowler then I think we absolutely crush the Jaguars in every phase of the game.

We score 26. They score 10.

If we lose, it will be Axl.

Saccopoo 09-01-2013 07:44 PM

Jags on offense:

No Blackmon (which is no big deal), Monroe is their best player if Drew isn't 100% which is most likely not coming off the lisfranc, and their QB situation is crap with Gabbert cleared for starting duties but he hasn't thrown due to a broken thumb. Rookie at RT. Maybe the worst offense in the NFL.

Jags on defense:

MOB Posluszny is the best player on this unit. They can't put any pressure on the QB and can't stop the run. They are starting a rookie at FS and CB. Maybe the worst defense in the NFL.

Jags coaching:

Bradley is a first year HC who is a former defensive coordinator. This is the first time he's ever been a head coach at any level (with the exception of four months of fill in time at Fort Lewis College).

The Jags are arguably the worst team in football all things considered. They are starting completely over and are missing most pieces with the exception of a decent OLT.

The Chiefs should absolutely steam roll the Jags.

34-10. And I think that's being generous.

20-16 Jags or some other form of hell.

We will actually outgain the Jags but bog down in the red zone due to Alex's ineptness.

Only Maurice Jones drew scares me. Human bowling ball. If we can shut down the run and get a lead, I think they will fall apart.

The only reason the concept vaguely entered my mind is that the only pre-season game I saw him play in he had a passer rating of 130.5. Reminded me of the Matt Moore game where he came in and lit up the Chiefs.

Provided KC doesn't have an epic collapse in the first half I think we will destroy them.

Typo in original post -- 36-10 is my prediction.

Chiefs were solid against the run in pre-season, not that it means much. Take away Frank Gore's broken play run for 54 and they gave up an average of just over 3 ypc -- the longest runs coming from QBs. I think they shut the guy down.

The line failed at run blocking during preseason. We all saw it. I just hope it doesn't carry over to the regular season.

Chiefaholic 09-01-2013 08:33 PM

I don't see this defense giving up many big plays and finishing at least +2 in the turnover ratio. I expect to see a lot of man to man defense and plenty of pressure in the backfield in third and long situations.

On special teams, I see the offense playing on a short field the majority of the game while being a top five in the league in return yards. Ryan Succop will hit at least 3 field goals this week as players adjust the new offense.

On offense I see the running game tearing it up averaging 5+ yards per carry, while Avery leads the team in receptions. I look for Alex to keep it simple and rely on short passes to limit turnovers and let the running game and defense win it for us.

Final score Chiefs-27 Jags-10
