Egomania Tournament: Round 1, Heat 1.
 

We have 64 contestants. In each heat, I will present four major ego hounds. You will vote for the TWO biggest egos among them. The top two in each heat will advance to the next round, and they will smile smugly because they think they deserve it.

And off we go, delving deep into the dysfunctional human mind.

I went with Marino as #1, though admittedly an ego is somewhat justified when your release is that fast.

I went with Howie Long as #2. He believes that his feces emit no odor and always exudes a smug aura of superiority despite the fact that he cheated his way to success.

The other two are just thugs. They probably have ego issues, but they're mostly just criminals.

What is it with you and tournaments?

Taylor didn't even make the nominations. I strongly pondered putting him in, but wasn't sure if his situation was ego or just the mindset of crazed dogs.

Is ego a bad thing in the NFL?

That is a worthy question.

It probably gets you more attention, but I'm not sure it's positive attention. I doubt that it really converts to sponsorships or anything, so it may be bad for the player. However, it gives the league some attention, so they may not mind in the dark of night.

I liked it better when we voted on hot chicks. :(

I still have the movie scenes tournament on my list, but it's a time commitment. I've been debating a harem tournament that would be tasteless but great fun.

True. I'm more thinking it translates to confidence on the field of battle.

You absolutely have to have a certain level of cockiness to play the game. I do not know if the next step up into pure arrogance is an advantage or not. :shrug:

A lot of people, apparently.

Marino could back it up, no doubt about it. But his ego had to be hauled to the game by those trailers that move the space shuttle to the launch site. That's why he was drafted by a Florida team.

Yeah, some of these nominations really missed the point. Vick may have done some bad shit, but he's never been a loudmouth or a showboater or a diva or a drama queen. But the people of CP, incapable of complex thought as they are, just went ahead and nominated any and all mother****ers who aren't perfectly likable.

Oh well. I trust the proper nominees will win, as they did in this round.
