So, what are our chances of winning the division?

Did you see that juggernaut out there?

That Denver team is way better than last year's version. Manning is better. Their receivers are better. Without three of their most important defenders from last season, the Donkey defense turned Joe Flacco into a shit-eating rape monkey.

That team is a serious Super Bowl contender.

What are we?

I enjoy watching HOF QBs have amazing games.

The fact that it confirmed what I've known all offseason was no surprise.

In what dimension can this team, with our dinky QB and subpar WR corps, compete with that football giant we just witnessed?

You're living in a dream world.

tk13 09-05-2013 11:15 PM

Yeah, the Broncos are probably going to have a better record than the Chiefs, unless Peyton Manning is injured. Real newsflash there.

Simply Red 09-05-2013 11:16 PM

we MAY win seven games - but I'd still say 6 is where we'll land.

kcjayhawks5 09-05-2013 11:17 PM

Of course this stupid ****ing thread would be started after they just piss pounded Balitmore. Baltimore isn't the same team as last year and it is early. Peyton won't have the game if his life every single game and they will struggle against good offenses. We'll see what happens...

I saw a defense that wasn't that good until Baltimore had to chuck and gun. I saw Manning get hit quite a few times.

Again, let's watch one Chief's game. I might be right there with you next week, but I'm willing to see the product on the field.
Did Nick Athan text you your take?

ThaVirus 09-05-2013 11:17 PM

They faced a Ravens team with a lot of changes, question marks, and a supremely overpaid, shit-ass QB. Not to mention you know they wanted blood, they lucked into getting this game at home, and the Ravens were likely to experience a bit of a Superbowl hangover anyway.

The good news is: their defense doesn't look very good and the running game looks like it will suck yet again. Bad news is: they still have Peyton and he has a shit ton of weapons to throw to.

DaFace 09-05-2013 11:17 PM

I've never thought there was any chance in hell that we'd beat Peyton this year. I think the chances of making the playoffs are much higher (but still obviously low).

Bambi 09-05-2013 11:19 PM

Is this a Royals thread?

ThaVirus 09-05-2013 11:20 PM

They also appear to have a marshmallowy schedule. Unless the NFC East turns into the NFC Beast, they'll likely take home 12-14 wins this season.

.. But that was the expectation before tonight's game anyway. I expect the Chiefs to win anywhere from 6-10 so this literally changes nothing.

He's just trolling you. That is what he does. Somehow it is accepted as good football discussion. The AFC is still terrible until proven otherwise. It may be even worse this year. The Ravens and Steelers have question marks, the Patriots shouldn't regress but they've lost a lot of weapons. The rest of the AFC East is a train wreck. The rest of the AFC West may be a train wreck depending on whether Rivers is done and if the Chiefs offense shows anything. Texans and Bengals should be good but still have to prove they can win when it matters. It may take a few weeks to even figure out who the good teams in the AFC are.

Brando 09-05-2013 11:29 PM

There's still room on that Broncos bandwagon. You're obviously into fellating them.
You and KnowMo bring a handkerchief and go enjoy yourselves.

CaliforniaChief 09-05-2013 11:32 PM

I'd say 10%. The Broncos are the overwhelming favorite, and seem to be ready to roll...but it's a long season, and lots of things can happen.

What's funny is that in the big picture, a Baltimore loss may help the Chiefs more than a Denver loss, considering the Wild Card stuff.

Then again, we might need to win a game or 10 before that is worthy of discussion.

Really, and Denver's defense didn't have the same or bigger changes and question marks? Doom, Miller and Champ all gone.... That seems to be a much bigger loss than what the Ravens suffered.

Funny how before the game everybody was saying Ravens defense was going to be better and faster than last year. Than of course all of a sudden they missed those old, slow ****ers.

If they had Von right now and had resigned Dumervil somehow, that would be fierce. And yes, Bailey is older, but he still makes their DB rotation better. If we can somehow skim off a wildcard, it would be cool. Chiefs won't win this division though, zero chance unless even more Denver guys get arrested, or hurt.

Funny that we posted about the same thing within a minute, but it's reality. You can't adjust sliders, scam a trade for Calvin Johnson, or whatever like Madden.

I still think we will do ok, but Manning just set himself for the TD record tonight given it was the first game.

Hit the nail on the head right here, not to mention the huge momentum swing Denver got on the horrible missed call they got a first down on that they quick snapped before Baltimore could challenge. Ravens were up at that point in the 3rd and Broncos should have been punting, instead they got a TD, next drive blocked punt and Ravens were done from there. Also there was the easy ass dropped TD to end the half, Baltimore should've been up 7 at half and Baltimore is pretty average despite their run last year.

This game showed a lot of Denvers weaknesses and I believe we have a coaching staff that can exploit those weaknesses and a young and hungry team that can execute against them. Chiefs 13-3 win the division. Broncos 11-5.

True. I can see us actually winning one game against them if things go right. They are still pretty bad ass though.

I thought they were screwed after the first half, then bang, it's on after the adjustments at the half.

It's a long story. But the short version, is an old version of Madden NFL. Started playing as the Chiefs, looked into them, etc. My fandom just kept growing from there.

Fun facts.

Last year, we threw our 7th passing touchdown I think around game 14.
Our total number of passing TDs for the season was 8.
Alex Smith threw for his 7th touchdown last year in game 5

10 - 40%

We have a chance but, it's slim. Denver is good but, Baltimore lacks chemistry and depth. They are going to lose some games.

Monolith 09-06-2013 06:10 AM

50%

jaa1025 09-06-2013 06:16 AM

I don't think the Raven's are going to be that good this year. 8-8 or 9-7. They lost their two HoF defensive players and their best WR.

Not to take anything away from Denver as that was as impressive of an offensive performance that i've ever seen in the NFL. We don't play them until later in the season and who knows how they will hold up.

YayMike 09-06-2013 06:20 AM

Denver is one manning injury away from being a subpar team. Every team suffers big time when they lose their starting QB. But...they would hurt a shit ton more than say..we would. Manning looked amazing last night. Hate to say it but Goddamn was that fun to watch.

Stupid poll. It is 50%. either we will or we won't There is nothing else really. Last year we were far crappier and still almost beat Denver once. No reason why we couldn't split with them this year.

jspchief 09-06-2013 07:12 AM

KC was the worst team in the entire league last year. Do people really think winning the division is anything other than long odds?

And does it matter how good Denver is? What, people were wanting to become a playoff team based on a weak schedule? So KC can get another 1st round ass kicking? I hope KC has to beat the best on the way to a playoff berth. At least then I would know they would belong.

You act surprised. The plan from the beginning was Super Bowl run year 2 with Manning. Last year was a tune-up year and it just worked out that the Donx were a benefactor of other teams losing down the streatch. The ONLY chance the Chiefs have is if Manning goes down and the Chiefs play flawless football. Take Manning out of the equation, and the Donx are just another team. He is THAT good.

The Broncos were definitely missing some pieces in this game, but everyone expected their defense to suck this game- and it didnt disappoint. In case you missed it, they gave up 30 points, in Denver, to a Flacco-led offense that only gave Ray Rice 12 carries.

.. And, no. The Broncos missing pieces and changes are NO WHERE NEAR what the Ravens were dealing with. They lost two Hall of Famers and 4 more starters ON THE DEFENSE ALONE (Lewis, Reed, Ellerbe, Kruger, Pollard and Cary Williams- 6 is right, right?).
