Meaningful scoreboard watching with just over 2 weeks to go in the regular season.....who woulda thunk it

mr. tegu 09-12-2013 11:59 AM

At one point last week we were 6 games back of the last wildcard spot. Today we are only 4.5 back of the first wild card spot. Awesome.

Out of curiosity, I typed this into bodog. This parlay would pay 5.675 to 1. (bet $10 to win $56.75)

The bet has been made, haha. $10 to win $56.75 for the win!

The first two aren't that unrealistic...it's that Sox/Tribe game I doubt. Interesting info, nevertheless.

Canofbier 09-12-2013 12:20 PM

Who do we root for in Baltimore vs. New York? I'm inclined to say Baltimore since they're further back than the Yankees, and rooting for the Yankees does bad things for one's soul.

Baltimore has a tougher schedule from now until the end

CaliforniaChief 09-12-2013 12:25 PM

Other than the Rays/Yankees/Orioles planes having a triple collision in the air, the best solution is probably to bring the Yankees back today. They finish their season with the 4 game set AT HOUSTON.

Yep, the Orioles schedule is brutal, their losses will come later. The Yankees still have games against the Giants and Astros, so we need them to lose today.

Ugh. Let's hope it doesn't come down to counting on the Astros to get us into the playoffs.

Have a Royal bday, dude.

I don't know what that means exactly because they're off, but I thought this was the appropriate time to inject a cheesy bday joke.

BlackHelicopters 09-12-2013 12:35 PM

Red Sox and ChiSox fans. Don't know what to do in Balt/NY tilt.

Balt has an insane schedule from here on out, so we should probably be cheering for them to win.

I'm up in the air about NY vs BAL game, general logic says you should probably want the team farthest away from you to lose, and since the Yankees also have the easier schedule I think I SHOULD be rooting for them to lose. At the same time though we've been sitting in the 4th runner up position for awhile now, need to start passing some of these teams.

This would suck for both teams

I approve of this outcome. Screw up both team's rotations, less rest, etc.

I'm rooting for rain. If you actually placed a 3-game parlay, don't worry, it would convert to a 2-game parlay bet with lower odds.

Toadkiller 09-12-2013 05:12 PM

I am in! Seems odd not to have a royals game on tonight. Been a long stretch with a game everyday.

alnorth 09-12-2013 05:19 PM

Red Sox threatening in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd 2 outs.

solo homer for Boston to cut TB's lead 2-1

alnorth 09-12-2013 06:20 PM

Fun Fact: Since June 5th, the Royals had the 3rd-best record (0.593) Behind only the Dodgers (0.682) and Red Sox (0.602).

Damn it, the month of May really killed us.

Yech. But not unexpected.

007 09-12-2013 06:26 PM

sucks that Baltimore is playing NY.

alnorth 09-12-2013 06:30 PM

Yankees and Orioles are now underway. The rain lost.

alnorth 09-12-2013 06:34 PM

I F'ing hate the White Sox.

I know old Royals fans hate the Yankees, some of them dislike the Phillies because of the 1980 World Series, etc.

If I had to pick a rival, it would be the Chicago White Sox. Screw those stupid south-sider white trash drunken fans, the fans suck, the team sucks, the Cell sucks, and believe it or not, their spring training stadium sucks too. I was there, Camelback Ranch felt like watching a game from the deepest pit of hell, it was ugly, looked like a rusted-out pile of garbage with no shade... but I digress.

You can't count on Chicago for anything. The Chicago White Sox should die in a fire, they certainly wouldn't lift a finger to hinder the Injuns if we would benefit.

suzzer99 09-12-2013 06:39 PM

You forgot the absolute worst thing about the White Sox. In the early days of mlb.tv/directv baseball you usually only got the Royals games with the other team's announcers. I still fly into an instant blind rage at the sound of Hawk Harrelson's voice.

I refuse to listen to that baseball announcer who shall not be named's voice. I'd rather miss the damned game entirely and read about it later than listen to that moron homer.

Of all the Central teams they are most certainly my most hated. Cleveland is just behind them.

But yeah, NY and StL by far are the teams I hate more than any other.

alnorth 09-12-2013 06:50 PM

F'ing Orioles. This may be the only time I'm rooting for them, and they are now losing to the damned we-end-our-season-against-Houston Yankees.

Shogun 09-12-2013 07:08 PM

Papi homerun. 3 to 2 rays

alnorth 09-12-2013 07:19 PM

Boston ties it up!

Woooooo!

AussieChiefsFan 09-12-2013 07:25 PM

Well at least BOS and TB are tied now, and the CWS/CLE game is still young.

Cleveland game game delayed. That would be great if they screwed Cleveland and cancelled the game just like they did to us early in the season when we were about to win. Wishful thinking, I know.

alnorth 09-12-2013 08:21 PM

Gomes grounds out to 2nd, Drew up

alnorth 09-12-2013 08:22 PM

Drew! Infield single!

Tying run at 1st

Great Expectations 09-12-2013 08:23 PM

First pitch I've seen thrown off the screen on mlb at bat was the 0-2 pitch to drew.

AussieChiefsFan 09-12-2013 08:24 PM

Even if TB win today, I still think they end up continuing their collapse and dont get the WC. The main problem today IMO is NYY and CLE winning.

Great Expectations 09-12-2013 08:24 PM

1st and 2nd with Pedroia up

alnorth 09-12-2013 08:25 PM
