Dontari Poe should just be called "Beast Mode"

I can't recall a DT with his skill set. There are only so many people in the world who weigh 340 lbs, and I dare say out of those select few (ok, in 'murica there are lots of them) he is without a doubt the fastest. Its not that he just disrupts the backfield; this guy plays sideline to sideline and can chase a runner down from behind. And he plays all three downs. He played 100% of the defensive snaps in the Dallas game. For a guy that size, that is unheard of. Any other person that size would of keeled over with a heart attack.

What is really scary about this guy is that everyone says it takes at least three years for a defensive lineman to learn his position in the NFL. This guy should have had a longer learning curve because by all accounts he didn't have any coaching in college to speak of. Give the kid a couple of years and he may well be one of the all time greats. I know it is early to say that, but I watch the guy and my jaw just drops at what he can do.

To put it in perspective, Haloti Ngata went to his first pro bowl in his fourth year when he recorded 36 tackles (26 unassisted) and 1.5 sacks. In two games in his second year, Poe went total Beast Mode and has recorded 10 tackles (9 unassisted) and 3.5 sacks.

The guy is inhuman--he is Beast Mode.

I always appreciate original nicknames not already in use in the league. Perhaps we could also call him skittles.

Gotcha, did not know Marshawn Lynch was called that....

Mav 09-16-2013 10:48 PM

The only one I can think of at all is Haloti Ngata. he really is freakish.....

Start calling him the POE-TRUCK for the way he drags bitches left and right.

Fat Elvis 09-16-2013 10:49 PM

Never mind the OP.....

L.A. Chieffan 09-16-2013 10:49 PM

I know he's a big dude and can lift like a million pounds or whatever but he doesn't look like your typical 340 pounder. He looks a lot smaller

Titty Meat 09-16-2013 10:49 PM

How about "Belcher". Dude is killin it!

That play Lynch had in the playoffs was pretty crazy. I would say he earned that nickname. Poe is certainly on his way to earning one of equal quality though. He still has to prove it out over time, but this is pretty impressive and convincing stuff right now.

How ****ing long?

Before TC in summer I'd always see him out. I talked to him a few times. One time I went up to him and said "do you even lift" he just smiled and his gf laughed.

Hammock Parties 09-16-2013 11:34 PM

His last name is Poe.

His addition makes our defense potentially as good as Baltimore's.

This guy is so big and so fast.

One of these days he is going to hit a QB just right and kill him.

Romo barely had time to adjust to the freight train that was bearing down on him.

CaliforniaChief 09-16-2013 11:54 PM

He is just stunning to watch.

I recall another play where he damned near ran down De Marco Murray from behind on a screen pass.

On the .gif that Clay posted, the center didn't even realize he was beaten until he turned and saw the Romo Sandwich that had just happened.

He is rapidly becoming my favorite player on this team.

Fritz88 09-16-2013 11:58 PM

He doesn't give up on the play. He almost outran Murry at one point and I literally braced for a "click" noise when Poe smashes him.

HEY! How'd I get left of this list?

Did you know that Alan Parson's was the engineer for Pink Floyd on Dark Side of the Moon? Did you know he also was engineer on a bunch of Hollies albums... including the one with one of their best tracks...

Although to be honest, let's give some credit to Albert Hammond who wrote it.. (and also wrote the classic... It Never Rains in Southern California) But Alan Parson's engineering is what made the Hollies version kick ass.

The last interior D lineman that the Chiefs drafted and went to the Pro-Bowl is Bill Maas---as far as I can remember.
