Mike Devito

I saw him on Thursday night, didn't realize he went to the Chiefs. I really liked him when he was on the Jets.

So how has he been playing so far after 3 games? and is he starting?

Fat Elvis 09-22-2013 08:00 AM

Hardworking blue collar guy. Really compliments our D.

Pasta Little Brioni 09-22-2013 08:01 AM

He has been a very good signing despite alot of CP bitching about it.

He is strong like Bull also. always pushed the O Lineman backwards on running plays. that was a nice pickup for the Chiefs. Im pissed the Jets let him go.

That's typical here at the home of the Armchair GM

Really? he grows on you after you watch him play a little bit.

Direckshun 09-22-2013 08:03 AM

He's playing about 50% of the snaps, basically starting in our base D on obvious run downs. He's been outstanding in that role.

Don't ask him to chase down Michael Vick, though.

He has been an improvement over Glenn Dorsey.

Yup. The crying about it and the Sean Smith signing were ridiculous.

Yeah, this place is ridiculous most of the time. I knew what we were getting.

And Glen Dorsey has started to look like the guy that the Chiefs drafted with thev 5th overall pick.

DeVito is a solid versatile player, but I would love to see how Dorsey performed in this scheme, with this sraff.

I personally feel he would be killing it now.

threebag 09-22-2013 08:10 AM

He seems solid if he gets his dick beaters on ya you ain't going nowhere but backwards. Looks strong as a ****ing ox

mdchiefsfan 09-22-2013 08:10 AM

Very underrated signing for us.

nychief 09-22-2013 08:16 AM

He is no Geno Smith, because alex smith sucks Eric Fisher's talentless dick etc....

BlackHelicopters 09-22-2013 08:19 AM

He no Glenn Dorsey

Glenn Dorsey is the invisible man on passing downs. I do see he got a sack for SF filling in for an injured player.

How's he doing with the 9ers?

Has Bob Sutton been aggressive? are the Chiefs implementing an attacking defense? when he was with the Jets he was a big zone guy and no blitz while he had the best one on one corner back in the league. I could not stand him when he was the dc of the Jets. shitty qb's would eat them alive because he would only rush 3 d lineman.

They are mainly rushing 4 guys, but it's been an aggresive man to man bump and run with one deep safety on most plays. 15 sacks and 9 TO's forced in 3 games is pretty impressive.

Sutton ran Mangini's defense whe he was the Jets DC.

It's an outdated passive philosophy.

Given the freedom to run the defense he wants to run, he's attacking like mad man.

LOL I had a feeling it was Mangini, not Sutton.

When you play the likes of Seneca wallace and the lower riff raff qb's in the league you have to blitz the shit outta them and attack and put the pressure on them to make the plays. 9 times out of 10its a positive result for the attacking defense. the Jets under Mangini rushed 3 guys against Wallace and he ate them alive.

mcaj22 09-22-2013 09:53 AM

they are rushing 5 guys more times than not

its usually 5 on 5 man on the outside

last guy is Kendrick Lewis in centerfield

The Sutton defense looks very, very similar to the Rex Ryan defense. It is definitely not even close to the same as Mangini's/Romeo's classic 2-gap defense.

This was true for the Philly game. I didn't see the others. Usually the other team is holding someone back to block so that leaves us with an extra man that has been used to try to cut off routes. Its a man with a twist. I'm sure we'll see different looks in other games, especially if they're known for sending multiple people deep.

You know how I feel about that topic.

Mr. Laz 09-22-2013 12:21 PM

brings a toughness and strength to the trenches

good guy to add into the mix

O.city 09-22-2013 12:29 PM

Dorsey is looking like the 5th overall pick? I haven't watched enough 9er games, but based on what I have watched, I haven't noticed him.

nychief 09-22-2013 12:35 PM

Dorsey had the one sack on his first series, now he's the starting NT.... He should not be noticed in the 3-4.

I remember when people said that about NTs. Then Poe.

Mr. Laz 09-23-2013 10:58 AM

I believe Dorsey got the starting nod because of injury.

Never had to grow on me. The thing that I always pay attention to when a team loses a free agent.

When the team that loses that player, seems truly pissed, then I realize what they got.

DeVito is exactly what you need in a successful defense. Unselfish guy, constant motor, tough as nails.

Hes this teams Justin Smith. J. Smith Lite if you will.
