I think we all know that he needs the rest of the offense to play better. He isn't a guy who will carry a team, but on a good offense he can excel like he did in San Fran.

Reid got the defense running in year one, but I think we need to change over a lot more personnel on offense. If they can get the offense up to top-third of the league, we'd be an instant contender. We just need to change a lot of personnel over on the line and in the receiving corps first.

Alex Smith will be just fine if he can start to hit a few of these deep balls. It's not always been his fault, obviously, but defenses are overcompensating to stop the short game and that is giving us open looks downfield. There have been some drops, but Alex overthrows the medium and long range passes almost every time.

I'm cautiously optimistic that as he builds chemistry and trust with his receivers that be will start to hit some of those passes and the offense will open up.
