There was a time I thought Hali tore his Achilles and Houston would need season-ending surgery on his elbow.

Things are considerably brighter now, and THAT is something we can all be thankful for.

That's only because someone in the game thread threw out the phrase "career ending" for Hali. In fact, I'm gonna go find that post and neg-rep the person. I'll quote them here if anyone else wants to join me.

If it was his achilles and thankfully it wasn't but due to his age that injury is career threatening.

Yeah, it was a reasonable conclusion to come to, considering how he went down and then couldn't put any weight at all on it.

It looked very bad.

I recall one of the announcer's saying "Oh, that looks like an Achilles".

Good to hear for Houston. That looked painful.

The Bad Guy 11-27-2013 07:33 PM

This is best case scenario. I thought Houston looked wiped out tired the last 2 weeks so hopefully he can recharge his batteries too.

Sucks for Sunday, but I expect some blitzes to mix things up.

Rausch 11-27-2013 07:34 PM

Ive been expecting blitzes since the game after the Raider game. Our pass rush absolutely vanished after that game. We hung 10 sacks on a mobile guy in Terrelle Pryor, forced a mind bending 3rd and 48 (a distance the ****ing punt didn't even cover), and then poof. Nothing.

Against Case Keenum, we did nothing until right at the very end, where a couple sacks sealed the game.

We've been playing some really conservative schemes since then. I think it was calculated that we blitzed Manning only 6 times in Denver.

Hopefully Sutton has an actual gameplan to disrupt Manning this time, because just sending the linemen and trying to cover isn't going to get it done.

mschiefs1984 11-27-2013 08:09 PM

Better then the worst at least he will be back at some point this season

I think Sutton is worried about the secondary getting torched. But they're getting torched either way so why not go down swinging?

cdcox 11-27-2013 08:18 PM

Sutton's saving our best stuff for the playoffs so we can turn that into a trap game for the Broncos! Brilliant!

Hopefully he won't have further elbow/arm issues in the future, because everyone heals differently. This type of injury shit bothers the **** out of me, because of the possibility of it could be a recurrent problem.

It wont dislocate 'recurrently' but will be achy, swollen and painful if he tries to play on it before all the soft tissue heals. This really sucks we need both of them 100% if we want any chance the rest of the season.

I'm talking about career wise, since his elbow is structurally weakened now. Houston maybe perfectly fine after this injury or it's going to be big issue in the future. Which is why hate this type of shit because of the uncertainty of how structurally sound his elbow is from here on out.

I don't get this "partial separation" thing.

I completely dislocated a shoulder, they popped it back in (that hurt SOOOOO much worse,) they taped my arm to my stomach, I finished the match.

I was in 8th grade.

I wrestled the next week (no, I didn't do well.)

If there is no tendon/ligament strains why can't they shoot him up and send him out?...

We are basically in the playoffs. Worst case scenario, we take it slow and let them heal up. In fact, unless we win out, our wins and losses from here on out don't matter much.

Our defense was solid against Denver. Was excellent in the first half of the chargers game.

I don't have any concerns about our defense at full strength being a playoff defense. Nor do I have illusions about how good a defense should be expected to be against Peyton manning.

Ace Gunner 11-28-2013 06:49 PM

this team played like bambi last game. if they come out and play like that in arrowhead, they will be met with the loudest stadium of boos they have ever heard.

this is where your veteran leadership needs to show up. let's review the first drive at Denver;

1st play veteran Albert; false start
2nd play veteran Jamaal; 3 yd run play
3rd play veteran Bowe; dropped pass
4th play veteran Jamaal; dropped pass

punt

If that's all these vets have, they are toast. again.

Every injury that a Chiefs player suffers bothers you. You haven't been right about one. Take heart in that.

Phobia 11-28-2013 09:10 PM

Achilles injuries are unmistakable. There is so much immediate pain that the victim flops to the ground looking like they got shot and they don't get up. They don't even try. They lay there writhing in pain, sometimes clutching their lower leg in shock. I never thought for a moment that Hali popped an Achilles.

The way he went down while having his foot planted and twisting without contact from the opposing linemen made me fear a lis franc.
