Niners should think really hard about using their draft picks to move up for a real QB and trade away Kaepernick for some more picks. If they do that, they can still continue to win by depending on their great OL, running game, and Elite defense/special teams while developing the new QB. Kaepernick has been in the same system for 3 years now and has shown little to no improvements as a QB, I would cut my losses and move on if I were them.

Think the Niners still trade Smith if they had it to do all over again ?

It's all relative. If we make it to the AFC Championship next year and lose, people will be questioning Alex and Reid around here too. Not the majority, but some will.

Considering the crap that was the 49ers coaches in those years, only the ignorant fans would place the blame on him. When you look back at his tape, he was already showing vast improvements even before Harbaugh got there. Just look at his stats in the games before Harbaugh came along, with Singletary as his HC. His lack of production was always due to bad systems and an even worse supporting cast. If I'm not mistaken, at one point he had Josh Morgan as his #1 receiver. I'll look up the 49ers roster during those years really quickly, lol.

Depends what u define as "seasons" anyone can look at nfl.com and see smith only played one full season before 11 with that team. He didn't play another season hurt, and under singletary didn't he use a different qb like every 2 game? The 49ers were a coaching disaster in the mid 2000"s

He does not know how to read a defense and has a severe case of tunnel vision. One of the better articles I've read about him and his limitations.

It's trolling. No one wants Harbs gone. There is a lot of justified talk about Kaep. Which means he has work to do. Very, very, few fans want him gone. We're talking 1% or less.

They should replace Harbaugh with Sutton, who is a true leader of men.

That great defense must be a liability in the postseason. During their Super Bowl run, they gave up 31, 21, & 34 points in three postseason games.

Meanwhile, Kaep accounted for 7 TDs against 2 turnovers, averaged over 10 yards per attempt, threw for 800 yards, and ran for 264.

That liability in the postseason accounted for nearly 1,100 yards of offense and 7 touchdowns in three postseason games while carrying the team to the Super Bowl...but I guess 38 points per game scored just isn't enough.

Kaepernicks season high completions after 27 in week 1. 21, twice.

Week 2 on including the playoffs games His average completion total was 14.5 a game.
That's 3.6 per quarter

That's not 21st century football.

Smith in 2011 had an avg of 17 completions per game.
Smith in 2012 had an avg of 18 completions per game.
Wilson in 2013 had an avg of 16 completions per game.

49ers are supposed to be a balanced attack. With Kaep QBing like crap the teams are able to focus more on stopping the RB.

Yes, but I don't think they'd immediately achieve the same level of success here as they have in SF, because the talent over there is so good. Their GM has done a nice job. And I don't think it would be as huge an upgrade in totality as some might think. Reid is a real good coach, and I'm happy he's here.

That said, I wouldn't be shocked if someday Harbaugh ended up here, assuming the opportunity arose and he were available. His wife's family is from here, so there are local roots for him to want this job eventually, sort of like there were for John Dorsey...
