I don't have to pay for it, problem is it's not a light surgery it's to reattach a tendon.

beach tribe 01-24-2014 01:00 PM

Did you tear it up banging your porn start GF?LMAO

Rain Man 01-24-2014 01:03 PM

This is really going to lower your draft stock. Terrible timing with the combine coming up.

Aside from that, good luck and I hope you have a quick and full recovery.

Phobia 01-24-2014 01:06 PM

Hopefully it tore the hair growing tendon. Hope you're feeling better and getting around quickly though. That's some tough luck. I don't even know how that happens. You must have humped unwilling poodles in a previous life or something.

Yea me too...it's even worse that the tendon isn't the one in my knee it's the one that's under my ass.

I've never had surgery before, anyone have any advice?

BossChief 01-27-2014 12:07 PM

How did you completely rip the muscle from the bone by just falling down on some ice?

You had to have fallen down some steps or something...

I have to wait till my workmans comp case is done before I can pursue that because homeowner insurance is a dollar for dollar payback so I don't want that settlement first it'd cost me money.

I think the iv is going to be the least of your problems. I mean, if it's the top of the hammy they're working on, won't the have to pretty much stabilize your leg at the hip joint? I'm just guessing...

That's possible, I know I'm not suppose to put any weight on it at all for 2 months. I at this point feel like just trying to sit is going to be a serious problem.

I got bit by a customers dog and they are paying my doctor bills, pain and discomfort, time lost from work and adding a dollar amount on top of all that for inconvenience.

You have to negotiate with the HO policy adjuster/claim rep.

BossChief 01-27-2014 02:25 PM

Don't sweat the surgery. That will be a piece of cake. The rehab will probably get old though. Good luck and I hope it heals fast.

Why do you think that his leg had fly into his face to cause a tear in one of the hamstring muscle group?

I'm asking because I've always been amazed at the level of medical knowledge displayed on this site.

If a muscle isn't constantly stretched, an immediate fast twitch reaction can easily pull a weakened muscle from the pelvis.

Elite athletes pull strings all the time. Regular folks not so much because we don't make the same movements most athletes make regularly.

Good luck to ya dude. Where in Lee's Summit are you having this done? St. Luke's East? Good place.

Who is your surgeon?

You're definitely going to be laid up for a spell. Probably a full leg brace that actually wraps around your pelvis.

It's not unusual for you to have this as an outpatient. They'll give you pain meds. Just use them wisely. And taking a dump? Get a high chair for the commode if you can. More than likely your leg will remain straight while having to sit on the can. If you have a low commode, that's going to be a problem for you.

I tore (micro tear) my gastrocnemius muscle in the calf. No surgery. Took 5 weeks to heal. Every step was an adventure.

Dayze 01-28-2014 08:42 AM

I pulled my hammy in the 40. Severely screwed up my time. I ended up running at 4.6. Fail.

Make sure you follow the instructions regarding rehab and at-home PT excercises. Most people discount those things, but they really help. Take it easy for exactly as long and in exactly the ways you are instructed. Do the PT exactly as often as they say you can. Make it your goal to amaze them with how fast you recover!

I usually heal fast, the PT isn't what I'm worried about, not being able to put any weight on my leg for 2 months is what I'm worried about.

Mecca 01-28-2014 11:31 AM

It'd be ironic if someone here had had my surgeon before.

RippedmyFlesh 01-28-2014 11:41 AM

Sorry to hear Mecca hope you get better soon.
Since you now have time on your hands I expect extensive scouting reports on our positions of need. j/k
Since you will be laid up for a while you may want to use the time to do something like learn a foreign language or something. Any thing to keep your mind active during this time. Again good luck and best wishes for a speedy recovery dude.

Mecca 01-28-2014 11:45 AM

I find him funny. I'm not that worried about PT I've always been a fast healer and I want to push to get healthy quickly. It's the first 2 months that have me most concerned.

Make sure you keep asking questions about your rehab regimen, especially after he's been in there and seen it. Ask what to do, how much you should do it, if there should be any limits on how much you do the exercises, under what circumstances to stop, what you should look out for and contact him again, etc. When/if you do imaging later on, make sure to re-ask those questions based on what they saw.

They will likely refer you for PT as well, depending on what's covered you may see an actual physical therapist and/or an extender after that. If no one suggests this, ask. Those are really helpful. If visits with a licensed therapist are available to you, don't pass them up. If you would have to pay out of pocket, you can call and ask for a cash discount.
