A major winter storm is approaching KC, (and a big portion of the midwest). How are you preparing?

Looks like another one might be hitting next weekend, as well. Better get used to the ground being white.

I'm doing some work on my Subaru today. Preparing to play taxi for friends and family.

Was a bit surprised by the one we got yesterday. Woke up with 20% chance of snow, and finished the day with around 4 inches.. Drove 15 miles north to work this morning, and they just got a dusting. Crazy.

Got absolutely nothing in JoMo.

I ate a burrito for breakfast. Is that preparing?

I'm not - the big snow yesterday went south of where I live, and the one tomorrow is expected to stay north. Should be colder than a witches tit, though.

We're supposed to get 3-7". While that's not as much as you guys, I'm ****ing excited. Through the entire winter I calculate we've received .20" of actual moisture. If we can get close to that 1" range, and it happens to come on the level, I'll probably cum all over myself.

I'm also excited for the snow. Now that I'm an "adult" I find myself looking forward to snow less, but I'm still happy when schools are out, and can go out and play with my little cousins.

I bought a ps4 so I'm planning on not going into the office and pretending I'm a kid again and school's been cancelled.

I’ve already been working on my Jeep to get it ready for the Frost Bite Run at KROCKs so for this storm I guess I’ll put gas in it.

We got 4.5" yesterday, which, once again, shut down the entire city.

I had to get up and drive my wife to the airport this morning as well, which was a lot of fun. She's flying into NYC and is now stuck in Charlotte.

This has been the heaviest snow winter we've seen in recent memory. We've already missed 8 days of school (9 counting today), and another small storm is coming in tonight into tomorrow morning, expecting to bring freezing rain. I imagine we'll be out again tomorrow. Then another storm coming in Thursday evening. Crazy.

The cutoff of that snow was very sharp. Heavy precipitation around Branson and northern Arkansas, and we got nothing in the Springfield area.

I got my new (to me) tractor with a blade, and momma is at the store getting fixins for chicken and dumplings tonight.

I live in Charlotte and it'd 65 ****ing degrees out... I'd trade a little warm weather for a steady winter here. Eighteen years in the Midwest (St Joseph) and experiencing this shitty weather here is killing my sinuses. It was ten thirty degrees three days ago...

No. Not yet anyway. But I know that wind is mean. And we've lost power because the lines get to swaying in the wind and hit each other. It's all over for the transformer at that point.

Thank goodness. I was out the last hour getting the gas heaters set up.

Hey this time of year is our reward for what's coming in August...

The wife is stranded in Charlotte. All flights into NYC are now cancelled.

Anyone have any experience flying into a different airport and catching a train to NYC?

I will be working from home tomorrow. I love it. Nothing like gettting up at 8 am and getting to work at 8:01 am followed by several lost hours throughout the day.

People flip the **** out about any winter storm these days.

It's not a coincidence that as soon as the media started naming winter storms that we end up cancelling everything at the slightest hint of weather.

It used to require a once in a generation storm to close down a college. Now, Mizzou is cancelling classes for tomorrow without a flake of snow on the ground yet.

It's time we investigate these winter storms imo. Our government is behind it.

This could be used as a "Deal With It" picture

We've started to establish a pattern here in KC (4 of the last 5 years) where we're getting more than our annual average snowfall out of 2 or 3 big storms and next to nothing for the rest of the winter. Up until this point we've had only 5 or 6 inches of snow.

I wonder if this is going to be like last winter where we hardly had anything measurable until February and then got over 30". Hell, the Royals got snowed out in May....
