Let's kick this pig.

sedated 02-24-2014 09:23 AM

If Self pushes the "clinch a conference title" button too much for tonight's game, I wonder if they come out flat on Saturday

saphojunkie 02-24-2014 12:06 PM

Didn't see this thread. My apologies to the youngster.

In!

George Liquor 02-24-2014 12:08 PM

In for 10

Reerun_KC 02-24-2014 12:19 PM

In, so someday we can be considered title town like the state school out west.

BWillie 02-24-2014 12:24 PM

Certainly we all covet a National Championship above winning 10 straight, but winning 10 straight conference titles is much more difficult and impressive. Just an unbelievable streak. With AT LEAST Selden coming back next year, this team is going to be preseason #1 or #2. Ain't gonna be any easier for the Big 12 next year.

This probably belongs in the hypothetical questions thread, but IF Embiid and Wiggins come back, you'll hear a ton of "greatest ever" talk. The expectations would be astronomical. Hell, even if only Embiid comes back, KU should be unanimous preseason #1.

RockChalk 02-24-2014 12:33 PM

Anyone else going to be there? Just had a client drop off a pair of tickets tonight. First time I will have attended 2 games in a row since college

I'm feeling very confident that Selden will return and I really think Embiid will return as well. If This happens KU will have to be pre season #1 with Alexander and Oubre coming in. We will be even better next year!

I called several potential clients in the KC metro area and not one of them would take a free dinner or tickets to tonight's game.

I was stunned.

RustShack 02-24-2014 12:40 PM

You guys better win out or lose out. I'm assuming first isn't happening for us now, so I'm pulling for the two seed.. In both tournaments.

Monday "late" games can be difficult for some. I'm fortunate to live within a few miles of the Fieldhouse, so I can generally make most games when I have tickets.

If Embiid stays, I will buy tickets to the 2015 Final Four immediately. Because that shit is happening.

Back in the day, OU clinched the 1984 Big 8 title in Allen and cut down the nets to celebrate.

Following their hijinks at Kansas, Brown had said, “The world is round,” meaning that what goes around comes around.

Sure enough, less than three weeks later, KU and Oklahoma met again in the championship game of the Big Eight tournament at Kansas City’s Kemper Arena. Final score: Kansas 79, Oklahoma 78.

Then, four years later, Brown and the KU faithful enjoyed the ultimate atonement when the underdog Jayhawks shocked Tubbs’ Sooners, 83-79, in the NCAA championship game, also at Kemper Arena.

Only in Rusty's world would tISU ever be considered a 2 seed in the NCAAs.

The strange part is the assumption that ISU isn't winning out, yet they're still getting a 2 seed... or else they would have gotten a 1 seed, right? LMAO

I've read his post a few times, and still have no idea what the **** he's trying to say. Why the **** would we want to lose out?

Well we have more top 25 wins than anyone, including you. So no, a 2 seed isn't crazy. 3 might be most likely though.

RustShack 02-24-2014 06:32 PM

@ESPNU: Most Wins vs #Top25 Teams This Season:
Iowa State 7-2
Kansas 6-3
Syracuse 5-0
North Carolina 5-1
Wisconsin 5-1
Kansas State 5-2
Texas 5-3

If there's a "next year potential" ranking that goes into seeding, they're pretty much a lock for #1 overall.

Overall. If I was an ISU fan, and didn't get a #1 seed I would boo the crap out of the committee for not doing their due diligence.

1 seed isn't even happening for us in the Big12 unless you lose out and we win out. So like I said earlier, I hope you win out to help us get the 2 seed.

Like Bearcat said, the funny thing is that you think they are even remotely close to the discussion for 1 seeds. You should be thankful for a 3.

Mr. Plow 02-24-2014 07:08 PM

Also, Syracuse loses twice in a week including a horrible loss to BC and drops 3 spots in the AP & 4 in the coaches.

To be fair, they were their first losses of the entire year. It's a drop in the bucket, I say.

Oh, and sweeeeeeeep.

No. **** Syracuse. After that gay ass Melo championship, they can happily die in a fire.

That being said, they are really ****ing good.

Want to hear something great? I was at a bar in LA when KU won the championship. It was packed with KU fans. I mean, 99.9999% KU fans. Everybody drinking, partying. Shouting.

The 0.00001% that wasn't KU fan?

Carmelo Anthony.

And he left the bar to tremendous cheers after we won. And THAT, my friends, is how you conquer your demons.

Oh, and some producer's kid threw down his Amex Black card and bought drinks for the ENTIRE BAR. My friend tried to stop him, but he said, "I grew up in Bel Air. My family is stupid rich. But I went to KU and it changed my life forever. Rock chalk."

Still brings a tear to my eye.

Mr. Plow 02-24-2014 07:38 PM

Just saw your PM. I haven't quit smoking. I keep finding excuses to keep my bad habit going. Looking into some e-cigs in hopes that will help ween me off, or at least not be as bad as soking regular cigaretes. Thanks for your support though.

Okie Lite whoopin' up on TCU, they're dancing around like it's their ticket to the Final Four.

Anybody know anybody that has some Stillwater Oklahoma State & KU tickets?

I'm also planning to make a hilarious Marcus Smart video where I wear Marcus Smart jersey in Stillwater and repeatedly flop when Okie State fans breeze past me.
