Crush 03-07-2014 06:49 PM

When did Razor Ramon start posting here?

The Bad Guy 03-07-2014 08:02 PM

Flattered. I really am.

Heard today they are continuing to push for Reid Bryant.

Jackson is obviously hitting free agency. He's asked for a raise over what he made last year and the Chiefs aren't doing that. They'll let him shop his services and if Bryant signs elsewhere, they will re-engage if the price goes well below what he made last year.

Finley would need to take a huge prove it deal, but with 5 teams interested as Boston Globe said today, he's going to get something decent. Finley was scared to go over the middle prior to this injury, don't see how it gets better post injury.

Hope I get some info tomorrow. We are going nursey furniture shopping tomorrow and it'll probably be the death of me.

Agreed on Finley, he was a finesse pussy scared of the big hit BEFORE the neck... after this, forget it, any "interest" we're showing is pure smoke.

Makes sense for him to go check in with his old coach, he has his ring... now its just a matter of finding where he fits for the right money.

Wouldn't be surprised at all if Jax overpaid a bit to get him, in fact, they'd be smart to do just that.

Yes...they should.

Question is ....can they afford him?

Byrd and Talib would officially get me back on board with this Factory of Sadness. Still can't believe we lost that playoff game. Oh wait yes I can...we're Chiefs fans, we should expect these kind of results.

I haven't heard one thing or another about Albert lately, but the chances of him back here are about less than 1%

Terez Paylor thinks the Chiefs might target Mike Mitchell

BossChief 03-08-2014 11:37 AM

BossChief 03-08-2014 11:38 AM

Hey Frank, I remember your posts about Sproles being in KC right before the tag deadline when SD tagged him at the last minute.

Any chance this regime has plans to try to sign him to replace McCluster?

I don't have any info on Sproles, but yes back before he was tagged, the Chiefs were going to offer him a long-term deal and it was thought he was very open it.

I'd hope they'd try, but I think Sproles right now is on the decline.

He'd be a great addition. Really great.

Byrd is out of the price range, but Mitchell is really ascending. He's good in coverage, good tackler and would be a huge upgrade over Lewis.

unless the market flops i dont see how the Chiefs can lock up a guy like this.

all the dudes from the slow market last year that played on 1 year prove it deals are about to cash in (The Geoff Schwartz, Mike Mitchells, Brent Grimes, etc)

Fat Scott quietly threw his hat in the ring on a ton of big time free agents at the start of free agency.

Haynesworth, at the time, was a top target and if Washington didn't offer him a brinks truck, we would have been in that bidding until the end.

He dodged a bullet there.

Yeah, but Mitchell still isnt' going to get big money - neither is Schwartz.

Grimes was a stud corner coming off a big injury. Same idea, but different circumstances with him. Prior to that injury, he was going to get this kind of payday.

i thought there was a lot of teams like us out there with shitty safety play last season looking to make an upgrade (Eagles and Colts come to mind, Falcons and Saints have departures as well)

I think Byrd will end up in Philly.

Colts invested a lot in Landry and have to pay Davis. I'd be shocked if they went the expensive FS route.

Saints will have nothing to spend.

RustShack 03-08-2014 11:57 AM

Replace McCluster with Hester. Unless someone overpays which is possible.

I saw a report the other day on Clemons that said he'd likely get around 3-4 mill a year on a short term deal.

I think Mitchell will probably get around 4 for 16 so about 4 million a year.

Chiefs could easily afford that.

They have money to work with and can easily obtain more.

What should be noted is that they have to be under the cap at the start of the league year, they can technically go over that cap to sign someone and then restructure someone after.

The last part is a big risk unless you have an ace in your back pocket.

Hali, Bowe and Berry need to help things if this team is gonna push it with this window we have.

I don't understand their math.

We have 122 in salary commitments and he cap is 133 and we have a 2.45 rollover to account for.

We should have 13.5 million in cap space, not 9.?

That may not be accounting for what needs to be set aside to sign our rookies.

I've seen it at about 9.6 mil. I'm hoping to see extensions to Berry, Smith and Houston.

At the onset of free agency I'd like to see us sign a FS, and WR and/or DE

The Bad Guy 03-09-2014 04:32 PM

Haven't been able to get an ounce of information. Sent 2 emails, heard nothing back.

I really couldn't get a gauge whether to expect some early activity in FA or not.
